Humanity is as we know it a flawed existence, they commit the most heinous crime that the Gods cannot even imagine doing; they as a collective destroy everything they see... Even their friend, family, home, and most importantly... Their planet.
But even so! Despite their flaws, a special case a appears, a special type of humanity that trancends what it means to have flaws. Yes, they have flaws on their own, but they don't use it as a something to weight thwm down bht instead use it as an advantage.
These so called special cases are know as Heroes; some heroes are humans; some are half-blood; some are the Gods itself!
Though some of them are not humans, they still achieved great deeds to the world.
Some Heroes experienced the cruelty of humanity, and some doesn't, yet it doean't changed the fact that they have experienced what it means to function as a human, but they used this humanity in them to make the world a better and lively place.
Yet... With the current situation of the world, these so-called Heroes are now experiencing the hidden face of humanity.
"Kaito! Hina!" The woman, with blood all around her started waking up hed two children.
"Mom?! What happened to you?!" Kaito seeing her mother's injuries was shocked at the sight.
"That doesn't matter, take your younger sister on the hidden vault at the basement now!"
"But! What about you?!"
She hugged Kaito and smiled at him. "As long as the two of you are safe then it's gonna be okay, don't worrg about me and protect yourself and your younger sister.."
"Okay... I promise I will..." Kaito immediately carried the half-asleep Hina on his arms as he started running toward the basement.
Their mother let out her tears as she sees her two children finally being in a safe place. With a smile of sorrow and her place she whispered. "May our ancestors, guide the two of you..."
Their house started shaking and as she finally say her blessing to her children, their entire house collapsed on her.
Kaito finally locked the secret vault in their basement, this vault that they were in was built for him and his younger sister safety once another catastrophe happens.
It is a giant vault meant to hide the two, it is complete with things they need to survive. Not only that but it also has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a storage room. The storage room contains a lot of things they need, and it also has a generator to ensure they have electricity, when it comes with water their parent constructed it to ensure that it has supply of water via having connection from groundwater that they use in the well on their backyard.
Kaito after concluding that there their supply is not lacking, decided to check on her younger sister's room.
Hef younger sister— Hina was sitting on her bedroom with a blanket around her, she was sniffing signalling that she finally finished crying.
"Hina..." Kaito went toward Hina and hugged her tightly.
"Big brother... We will be okay, right?"
"Of course, I promise that I will keep you safe. You're big brother will do anything to keep you safe..." Kaito hugged her sister until she fell asleep, he layed her on her bed and covered her with her blanket.
He left his sister's bedroom and went to the bathroom, he washed his face with cold water and looked at the mirror.
There he saw in a mirror was a young teen. 16 years of age this year, has a well-built body from being trained by his father. He has black hair and blood-red eyes, at the sight he was just a normal teen but deep within he is different from the rest.
He opened the cabinet near the bathtub, and from the look of it, it's just a normal cabinet storing soaps and shampoos, but when Kaito rummage behind the cabinet and clicked the button, a secret storage came out the wall near the cabinet.
On the storage where 8 items, the seven were covered in a black blanket, and the eighth was a book.
He took the book and opened it, on the first page was a picture of him, his sister, mother, and father smiling happily. He could only look at the picture in agony, but he immediately remobed any unneeded emotioms and began flipping the pages.
"10 years ago, humanity experienced an event that changed the world forever. The world experienced a war that is hidden in eyes of the public, that war was named as the Holy Grail War." Kaito read that text and clenched his fist from anger as he was reading it.
The Holy Grail War... Father told me all about the war and what its about, from what he said the Holy Grail is a war to fight for the ownership or to get a wish from a wish-granting ancient artifact called the Holy Grail.
Kaito turned to the next page and written there was the details of the start of the evilness of mankind. "During the very final of the war, the two masters who were left suddenly made a mistake. As the two started battling, they used their command spell on their servants. It was normal to use a command spell, but they used that command spell to make the servant use their full-power. Thus when the servant released all their power, they destroyed their entire surroundings. Being careless of what they did, the public soom knew about the secret war between Magus.
I remember this like yesterday, the government of Japan managed to reprimand the two magus and the holy grail. The servants kf the magus tragically died at the battle thus they weren't reprimanded.
The Japanese Government gained information about the secret world of magic... It was kept hidden at first, but a man working in the government named Kenzo Miyamura sold the information to other countries, because of this World War 3 happened... And even to this day, the war has not ended.
Kaito flipped another page and began reading. "Somehow, other countries managed to get access to their own Holy Grail and began using it to summon servants for military uses. It is still unknown how they managed to get their own grails."
Kaito flipped to the next page and there he saw a medalion on it. He took the medalion knowung what it was and read the page that contained the medalion.
"4 years after the event, the grails that other countries used suddenly began breaking apart from reasons unknown and the servants , but after this happened every ocean glowed into a gold light. When the light disappeared, the magus at the clocktower decided to investigate and there they concluded that a strong counterpart of the grails appeared deep within an unknown part of the ocean... Because of this countries all around the world started looking for it, but it was futile... The next day, it happened..."
We called this event as the "Calling" at this day every president on Earth were teleported to a place known as the "Reverse Side of the World" , there they met the mage named Merlin.
Kaito flipped to the last page of the book. "The mage Merlin is the mage in the Legends of King Arthur. Merlin announced that a new Holy Grail War would start with a new set of rules. He would then announce that in the 6 years he would announce the rules and goal of the Holy Grail War, but before then he expected humanity to prepare once the war started. The hints he gave us was the word "Continent" and "Humanity's Mask" before he left."
He closed of the book and returned it to the cabinet, he looked at the other seven things on the closet before he closed it. "The meaning of Humanity's Mask is still unknown, but the word Continent was easy... It means that 1 continent would unite and fight another. But because of this other continents starts attacking the other immediately to ensure that the other is weaken, and that's how my family got into this situation..."
Kaito left the bathroom and went to lay down on bis bed, he looked at the ceiling and raised hiis hand as if trying to reach it.
On his right hand was a command spell, signifying that he was chosen as the representative of his contunent– Asia. "Tomorrow, is going to be a busy day... After all the Holy Grail War will begin tomorrow."
