So I recently started watching BMW and GMW again. Maya just gets me.

"Why isn't anything happening Maya?" Riley sighed, leaning up against the lockers. Her books clutched close to her chest.

"Is something supposed to happen?" The older girl threw a book she didn't need into the bottom of her locker with a clang.

Riley sighed again, turning her body to look directly at her best friend. "I've been sixteen for over a month and nothing has happened. When you were sixteen everything you could ever want would come true."

"That's only in the movies Riles."

Maya closed her locker and the two headed to their shared class, history with Mr. Matthews.

"Lucas still hasn't officially asked me to be his girlfriend, I don't have any new friends, and my dad still drives me to school." She pouted.

"I didn't get any of that when I turned sixteen."

Crossing the threshold, they took their usual seats. Maya braced her one leg against her desk, cracking the gum in her mouth.

Riley turned around, "But you got what you wished for which was for Shawn to be your dad and adopt you."

Maya pointed a finger gun, "True but you can't control any of that except getting a car."

"Which again I may ask, what good is having a permit if you have no car to drive!" Riley lamented.

"Woah, is there a stormcloud in Rileytown?" Zay asked coming to sit behind Maya.

"Riley thought her life was gonna change when she turned sixteen." Maya leaned an elbow back on his desk.

"You know the phenomenon that is a female's sweet sixteen is factually inaccurate and while there are some added responsibilities, a female's life does not drastically change on average about 98.73% of the time. It is shown mostly in fictional media."

Maya gestured to Smackle across from her, "See told ya."

"You know Lucas just got a truck. He was telling me about it last night." Zay twirled one of his braids that fell on his forehead.

Maya snorted, trying to keep a straight face. Lucas stopped in the aisle, his fingers tightening on the strap of his bag across his chest. His eyes flitted between his friends.

"Oh no, did you tell her?"

Maya turned herself around, a smirk on her lips. "So Ranger Rick got himself a big ole truck with the big tires and the smoke stack in the back. Turn and burn Huckleberry yee yee!"

The others chuckled at the usual dig. "You betrayed me, man," Lucas said, a defeated look in his eyes.

Zay held his hands up in innocence. "You would've had to tell them sometime."

Riley folded her hands on her lap as she turned to him in his seat. "Can we ride to school together?"

"Sorry Princess, but I already called dibs," Zay stated.

Lucas nodded, "Sorry Riley, my parents are only letting me drive with one passenger and Zay already asked since we live near each other."

Riley stuck out her bottom lip and her eyes widened.

Zay exclaimed, "No, no! She's using her baby seal face! Everyone cover your eyes!" He stretched over in his seat to cover Lucas's eyes with his hand. "Don't fall for it, man!"

Mr. Matthews chose at that moment to walk in his class. "She's got the baby seal face." He pointed to his daughter. "Why does she have the baby seal face?"

She whips back around to face the front. "Daddy, I want a car."

"How about nooo."

She spun around to face her best friend, "Peaches, have Shawn buy you a car please."

Before she could even answer, Cory interjected. "Even if Shawnie would buy Maya a car and I know he wouldn't, you're not allowed to ride with Maya ever. Her behind the wheel would be nothin but trouble!"

Maya grinned showing all of her teeth.

"If you want a car so badly, you're going to have to earn it."

The bell rang and they were dismissed from class. The group walked together, each stopping at their lockers to pack up for the day.

"I'm sure we can find a cheap enough car for you, Riley," Farkle said. "How much do you have saved?"

"Maybe a couple hundred dollars?"

The others grimaced.

"What? Is that not enough?" Riley asked.

Maya wrapped an arm around her, "Oh Honey, you can't even afford a wheel."

Lucas came to her other side. "Let's just keep our eyes open. Who knows maybe someone is selling a car that cheap."

Maya and Zay share a look.

They walked outside into the parking lot. Seniors and Juniors drove, of course, they hung around their cars talking to friends. Cory was a few paces behind them, digging into his pockets for his car keys.

Riley longingly looked at the older kids.

"Who needs a car? We have the subway. It'll just be you and me Riles."

Sitting in the lot next to Cory's car was a motorcycle. The rider was still straddled on it. He was on his phone even though his matte black helmet concealed his identity. He finally noticed the group coming towards him and he flicked up his black visor.

"My brotha!"

They all halted dead. "Josh?" Cory said in disbelief.

Josh unbuckled his helmet, taking it off and setting it on his lap.

"My brotha! When did you get this?"

Josh laughed, "Shawn and I got it yesterday. I wanted it to be a surprise."

Cory groaned, "I can't believe Shawn got you hooked on motorcycles. They're dangerous you know."

The younger Matthews rolled his eyes. "Yea Dad, I already got a lecture from the parents."

"Besides," He reached behind him to dig out something in the bottom of the seat trunk. "If anyone wanted to ride, now would be the perfect time."

In his hands was another black helmet, more round shaped than the one he wore. "Whaddya say Gorgeous?"

Farkle had to elbow Maya, her mouth hung partially open. "You want me to ride with you Boing?"

He held out the helmet. "If there was anyone who wanted to ride, it was gonna be you."

"Peaches what happened to taking the subway? Peaches?"

Maya accepted the helmet.

Josh unvelcroed one of his gloves with his teeth and held it in his mouth as he went to strap Maya's helmet.

Maya lifted up her smokey visor to see Riley properly. "Relax it's just one ride, nothings gonna change." She smoothly got on the back, her hands tentatively resting on his abdomen.

Josh readied himself, turning the key and kick-starting the engine. They peeled out of their faster than what Cory was comfortable with.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we never hear from her again," Smackle said.

"No, I trust Maya. She said it was just one ride and then it's back using the subway."

The group sat on the stairs in front of the school, waiting for one blonde-haired rebel to show up.

"I knew it."

"Smackle!" Riley shot up from her slumped-over position.

A roar of an engine ceased any talking from the students milling around. It was uncommon for a motorcycle to be pulling into the school parking lot.

The driver pulled into an empty spot in front. Both riders sporting black leather jackets. He leaned back, taking his hands off the handlebars. His gloved hands squeezed his passenger's thigh so they could let go of his middle. The person backpacking looked around noticing all the attention drawn to them. She took off her helmet, letting her hair cascade down her back as she ran her fingers through it.

"She's enjoying this," Lucas stated.

Farkle glanced at his watch. "Come on guys, the bell is about to ring. We don't want to be late."

Zay nodded them along, "I got her. You guys go ahead."

Each of them made it to Mr. Matthews's homeroom before the late bell except Maya and Zay.

"What up losers?" Maya announced making her entrance with Zay trailing behind her. In her hands was her helmet.

"You're late Ms. Hunter and why are you carrying around a helmet?"

Maya rolled the helmet between her hands. "This is my helmet now but it needs that Maya Hunter flair so I'm taking it art."

"What happened to just one ride?" Lucas asked.

She strolled over to her seat, her chin resting on top of the helmet. "Blame Boing and his bike. I ain't going back to the subway and y'all can't make me. I'm a changed woman." She spread her arms, "This is me now."

"Daddy," Riley whined.

Cory threw his hands up, "I can't fix this."

"I already have an answer to your problems Honey. I saw a car that's just perfect for you when I was riding around."

Riley smiled and clapped her hands together. "What's the name of the car salesman? Where's it at? How much is it?"

"Ah, ah, ah, I'm gonna need Zay and Smackle first."

Smackle furrowed her eyebrows, "Why us?" She asked.

"You'll see later."

"I fail to see the reasoning for going to this place at dusk. Surely the business is closed by this time of night." Smackle stated.

The three of them were a little ways away near Harlem.

"There isn't a place is there Babygirl?" Zay asked.

Maya shook her head, "Nope."

Past another alley, there was a dirt lot off in the corner. It housed a majority of junker items and a huge trash compactor. Sitting near the front of the entrance in almost pristine condition other than the dust caked on it was an older Volkswagen Beetle in a powdered blue.

Maya checked to make sure no one was around before entering the lot. "Ok Smackle I need you to check under the hood and tell us what's wrong with it."

Smackle did as she was told. "Hmm...looks like almost all original parts issue 1994. There are some valves that are loose. Did you bring supplies to fix this?"

She dropped a tool pouch by the genius's feet.

Maya had the driver's side door open fiddling with the wheel column.

Zay kept his head on a swivel, surveying around the area.

"I'm sensing nervousness and paranoia. Smackle said, "What seems to be the problem?"

"Uh, don't worry about it Sugar. I'm fine."

Smackle shrugged and continued her work. Zay settled alongside Maya.

"Smackle doesn't even know you brought her here to boost a car."

Maya had the plastic cover off. She twisted some wires together. "We're not boosting." She scoffed, "This car is sitting in a junker pile which means finders keepers."

The hood was closed with a thunk. Maya smirked, as she stripped two wires. "Now are you gonna help me move this thing or what?"

"You're crazy." He sighed. She stopped what she was doing and raised an eyebrow.

"I didn't say I wasn't gonna help."

Maya giggled, sparking the last two wires together and the lights and engine came to life. Zay fist-bumped her.

"Smackle! Come steer this thing."

Maya and Zay got out and to the back to push the car toward the entrance. The air was still beside the panting of their breaths it was interrupted by the barking of dogs.

"Shit." She cursed.

"Take the wheel off Smackle."

She ran up to move Smackle over to the passenger side. Zay tried to pick up the pace. The barking got louder the closer they came.

"Zay! Let's go!"

Smackle had opened the back door for him and he jumped inside by the time Maya was able to pull out of the dirt lot.

Zay sprawled out on the back bench seats, not bothering to keep his head up. Everyone was breathing heavily.

"Is everybody good? Sugar?"

"I am good."

"Babygirl?"

"Yep."

It was silent except for the pounding of their hearts that Maya was sure she could hear come through her chest. Maya giggled, it was low at first but transformed into a full-blown laugh. Zay finally decided to sit up. His arms stretched across the headrests of both front seats. Her laugh was contagious and soon he was laughing as well.

Smackle's head shifted to look between Maya and Zay. "What's so hilarious?"

Maya skipped into the Matthews home. The other two were behind her. She halted abruptly at seeing the large gathering.

"Peaches! You're alright!" Riley cried, running to hug her best friend.

Maya hugged her back hesitantly. "Uh, yeah? What's up with the welcome party?"

In the living room were Cory, Topanga, Auggie, Shawn, Lucas, and Farkle.

"Where the hell were you kid?" Shawn asked, his hands on his hips doing his best impression of a scolding dad.

"We tried to call you all evening," Riley said.

Maya reached into her pocket to pull out her phone. She had it silent and noticed the numerous texts and calls.

"Sorry, I was busy getting Riley's car."

"No way! How?"

"I have my ways."

"They made me do it!" Smackle pointed at Maya and Zay.

Maya covered Smackle's mouth. "She doesn't know what she's talking about."

Farkle pulled his girlfriend away from Maya. "What did you guys do?"

"We stole a car."

The adults in the room gasped.

"You forced Smackle and Zay to steal a car?" Topanga said.

"We didn't steal a car. It was in a junker lot. Nobody's gonna miss it." Maya explained.

"I had fun." Zay pointed out.

Cory sighed, "You don't know that Maya."

Lucas half-heartedly raised his hand, "Question: How did you get it here?"

Maya shrugged a shoulder, "I know how to hotwire a car."

Shawn sighed heavily through his nose as he pinched the bridge of it. "Jesus, you really are my kid."

"Look it's late," Cory said his hands out to calm everyone down. "Tomorrow we're taking the car back to where you found it."

Maya crossed her arms, "Ah boooo."

Shawn wrapped a heavy arm around Maya's shoulders, forcing her head into his body. "Come on klepto, we're going home and telling your mom about this."

Maya groaned and had no choice but to let Shawn guide her out.

"Do we really have to take it back?" Riley whined to her parents. "I mean look how pretty it is."

They all stood on the street next to the car.

Shawn examined the driver's side. "A little careless in your stripping but you did a good job kid."

"Shawn! Don't encourage her." Topanga reprimanded.

He cleared his throat. "Right. I mean bad Maya no more."

Cory ushered them into the car and Maya led them to the correct lot. Cory carefully pulled in minding the dogs running around.

An older gentleman stepped out of the small workers' station on the side. He was wiping grease from his fingers. "What can I do for you folks?"

"Hi, sorry to bother you." Cory shook his hand. "We wanted to return this car back to you." He pushed Maya and Riley in front of him. "You see my daughter wanted a car and her best friend saw this car in this lot." Riley hugged Maya around her head. Both girls try to use their charming smiles. "And well my daughter's best friend is a street urchin so she thought she could just take it without permission."

The old man scratched his head underneath his cap. "Well, to tell ya the truth, that car was just going to be used for scrap. It certainly isn't a loss for me." He held up a finger, "Hold on one second." He goes back inside and comes out with a set of keys. "These should be the keys. You can have it. Honestly, I never seen a best friend go to such lengths for another."

Cory takes the set of keys from him. "Are you sure? I was trying to teach them a lesson here." He half whispered.

The old man chuckled, "I remember getting my first car. I have no problem in gifting someone else that great feeling."

"Thank you so much," Riley told him.

He smiled, "I'm sure you will have a lot of adventures in it."

"What did we learn today?" Cory asked the girls once he opened the door to their apartment.

"When in doubt have your best friend boost a car." Riley marched in.

"Stealing is okay sometimes," Auggie added.

Maya followed, "I'm always right."

Cory huffed.

"Not a good time for a lesson Core." Shawn patted him on the chest.

"I give up."
