Character Guide:

Seymour: Sol

The chorus: Midnight

Ronette: Firekit

Crystal: Stormkit

Chiffon: Harrykit

Sol tells Leafstar's kits the story of how he met Midnight the badger and realized that she was no ordinary badger, remembering too late while telling the story that he doesn't come off as the coolest guy ever in it.

Part 1

Da-doo

I was walkin' in the wholesale flower district that day

Shoop da-doo

and I passed by this place where this old Chinese man

Chang da-doo

Sol confidently struts forward with Harrykit, Firekit, and Stormkit following him adoringly. At his second line, they come across a noticeably younger and somehow even cockier version of Sol who is about half his size. They follow him for a few seconds without breaking their stride.

Part 2

he sometimes sells me weird and exotic cuttings

Snip da-doo

'cause he knows, you see, that strange plants are my hobby

Da da da da da da-doo

The group comes across Midnight, who is serenely sleeping half in and half out of a lake, with the water lapping at her side. The younger version of Sol confidently and rudely prods at her shoulder with a front paw, his claws unsheathed, and quickly gains a look of terror as she immediately responds by grabbing his arm with a front paw without opening her eyes. The younger version of Sol is unceremoniously thrown into the lake, seemingly with ease, and the kits are extremely amused by this. The older version of Sol is not.

Part 3

He didn't have anything unusual there that day

Nope, da-doo

So I was just about to, you know, walk on by

Good for you

The kits start playfully attempting to imitate Midnight's feat on each other and the older version of Sol's tail, and he swishes it out of the way angrily, his confidence broken. Meanwhile, the younger version of Sol ashamedly stands up and attempts to retain any scrap of dignity that he can while getting out of the water, ashamedly looking away from Midnight, who sits up and looks at him smugly. The younger version of Sol stops in his tracks and looks at Midnight in amazement as she sings with multiple voices, and the kits stop to stare at her in amazement as well.

Part 4

When suddenly, and without warning, there was this

Total eclipse of the sun

It got very dark,

And there was this strange humming sound

Like something from another world

The older version of Sol looks towards the sky expectantly, his confidence slowly returning, and he flicks his tail towards it to get the kits to pay attention to it. During the second line, the shot shows the sun being covered by the moon in an eclipse. The shot switches back to the group. The older version of Sol is using his tail to cast a shadow over the kits' eyes, mitigating the brightness of the eclipse, and they and the younger version of him are staring at it in amazement while Midnight puffs out her chest proudly. The younger version of Sol looks downwards as his collar starts vibrating before looking at Midnight in confusion and amazement.

Part 5

Da-doo

And when the light came back this weird plant was just sitting there

Oop-see-doo

just, you know, stuck in, among the zinnias

Audrey 2

The younger version of Sol's collar keeps vibrating before cracking and falling to the ground in front of him for a few seconds. Its bell bounces off of the ground, and Midnight catches it with surprising agility. She holds it up for a few seconds before skipping it across the lake several times to the kits' and the younger version of Sol's amazement. The bell appears to disappear into the eclipse, and the older version of Sol appears to be begrudgingly impressed.

Part 6

I coulda sworn it hadn't been there before,

But the old Chinese man sold it to me anyway,

For a dolla' ninety-five!

The younger version of Sol stares amazedly at Midnight before sitting next to her and bowing his head respectfully, and the older version of him dips his head slightly in embarrassment. The kits and the younger version of Sol watch intently as Midnight, proud and smug, scratches a few mysterious symbols into the dirt with a front claw, appearing to be holding the water back by a few inches in order to keep it out of her way. The younger version of Sol points to one of the symbols with a front paw with sheathed claws and tilts his head questioningly at her.

Part 7

Sha la la, la la la, la la la loo!

The kits enthusiastically attempt to run towards Midnight, and the older version of Sol barely manages to stop them with his tail after catching up to them. They stare up at him disappointedly, and he shakes his head slightly before grinning at them smirkingly, picking up Harrykit, and walking back in the direction they came from with Firekit and Stormkit following after him disappointedly and casting glances over their shoulder at Midnight, who is now conversing with the younger version of Sol and explaining the symbols to him.
