Ginny walked through the ruins of the entrance hall, heading for the massive hole where the great doors once stood. Soon, wizards and witches would come through and set things to right. She forced herself to walk past the rubble and out onto the grounds. She pointed her wand at the window to her common room, summoning her broomstick down and to her hand. Mounting, she glided across the lawn as she made for her favorite spot at Hogwarts. She had not been able to find Harry Potter, the Boy Whom Lived, anywhere in the castle. She suspected he was waiting for her in their little nook by the lake, where they had so many loving moments.

As she approached, she saw a mass of unkempt raven hair by the tree, his face pointed to the lake. She landed and dismounted her broom, setting it down on the other side of the tree, and approached the man she loved. He was free of blood and grime now, wearing a fresh set of clothing. He turned to face her and she could see his bright emerald eyes trained upon her, a wonderful smile playing at his lips, just for her.

She put her hands on her hips, forcing her voice to carry over to him. "Well, well. What do we have here? An intruder in my sanctuary?"

Harry winked and opened his arms. "Yeah, I couldn't help it, this spot is too pretty and calm. I know I'm in for a storm of fuss back at the castle."

She happily slid into those arms that had always kept her so safe and laid her head on his chest. She felt him wrap her up nicely and snugly. "Can I fuss over you, at least?" She teased, he knew that she would do it anyways.

"You're the only one I want to fuss over me, except maybe your mum." He gently stroked her back.

"I see." She purred from her favorite spot. "Well, what will the savior of the wizarding world be doing first, I wonder. Now that he is finally free from Tom Riddle."

He kissed the top of her head, and she knew he was inhaling the extra strong dose of the intoxicating flowery aroma from her shampoo. "First thing, I am going to beg my favorite witch to take me back, if she'll have me. There's so much to do as well, but I figure that should be my first priority."

"Good answer," Ginny sternly. "Honestly, I was going to be angry at you and hex you a bit before taking you back… but after seeing you so still in Hagrid's arms and hearing that man tell us you were dead I get it. You didn't want me to end up like that. It was like I had my own dementor, right where my heart should be. There would never be happiness again. Until you came out of your cloak and saved my mum from Tom. So I get it, you're forgiven. Just swear to me, that you'll never break up with me again, no matter what. We'll work out our differences together, but we have each other's backs from now on."

Harry nodded and smiled down at her. "I, Harry James Potter, swear to never leave you again, Gin. Not by my own choice."

She nodded. "Then we will pretend that 'breakup' at the end of last May was for show only. Which means you owe me an anniversary present as well as a birthday present, mister."

He chuckled. "Actually, your birthday and Christmas presents were hidden in Ron's closet the whole time. I guess with everything going on, your dad forget to bring them down."

She huffed. "Typical, do you ever forget any important day?"

He shook his head. "Not after living with the Dursleys.I know too well what it's like to be forgotten on the big days."

She felt the usual dislike for those dumb muggles surface.

"So, want to tell me about your year? We can swap."

"Alright, I'll go first."

And as the summer morning dragged on, they caught each other up on the moments that had been missed in each other's lives in the ten months they had been apart. Once they were done, Ginny sat up and gently slapped him across the back of his head.

"What was that for, Gin?"

"For doing something so dangerous and reckless. But I am flattered your last thoughts were of me when you thought you had to die." She leaned in and kissed him. "So, what are you going to do next, that you have your fair lady love back in your corner."

"First thing tomorrow, I am going to see if Bill will go with me to Gringrotts and make amends with the goblins. I won't be able to function in wizarding society until that's done."

"Good luck, Harry. Bill's told me things about the goblins." She shuddered as she lay back down on his chest again.

"After that, I'd like to return to the Borrow to rest between the memorial services. Then, I am going to offer my services to Kingsly as the new Minister of Magic."

She nodded her approval. "I do have one selfish request to make."

"Anything, Gin. Honestly, you're being so understanding of all this."

"I'd like to keep our relationship secret for a while. Just until everything is settled again. I feel some troubled times are coming, and having this will be a great source of comfort. I just don't want my family to interfere right now. Or mum to ask when she's getting green-eyed grandkids."

Harry laughed but kissed her in response. "Of course love. I suspect Hermonie will know fairly quickly."

Ginny arched an eyebrow. "Oh, Potter? Wanting to make a bet on who figures us out first?"

"You're on, Weasley."

The two continued laughing into the afternoon before returning to the castle. Ginny was beaming as they walked back, knowing that nothing would take him away from her again.
