I Wouldn't Do That If I Were You

Gray took the bag containing the bentos that Mirajane had cooked. He also took the bag she handed to Juvia. The water mage protested, telling him she could carry it, but he refused to let her. He could at least do that for her, he told himself, after the six months he had put her through.

They headed towards the guild that the members were rebuilding. Juvia had offered to fetch the lunches and Gray had come with her to help. It reminded him of the time when they lived together and he accompanied her when she went shopping in the village.

Ever since they returned to Magnolia, Gray had been trying to spend as much time with Juvia as possible, as if he was trying to make up for the time he spent away from her. Some members of the guild had noticed his change in behavior towards Juvia and they did not hesitate to tease him about it. But he did not care. All he wanted was to be with her. A year ago, he would not have thought it possible, but within the space of six months, she had managed to have a place in his heart. He finally realized that he was in love with her. He came out of his thoughts when Juvia spoke.

"Gray-sama, look! A cat !"

She pointed to a big gray stray cat sitting in the middle of the path.

"He is so cute !"

Juvia approached the cat, who watched her every move, distrustful.

"Juvia, don't go near him," Gray said.

She had a huge smile on her lips at Gray's reaction.

"Gray-sama is worried about Juvia. But don't worry."

Gray rolled his eyes. He suspected how things would end, but Juvia was too stubborn to listen to him. She leaned slightly towards the cat and held out her hand.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Gray said.

Juvia did not answered, her attention was focused on the cat. He brought his head closer and sniffed the water mage's hand. But when she wanted to stroke his head, he suddenly moved away and scratched her hand. He ran away. Juvia winced in pain. Gray rushed towards her and took her hand to look at her wound.

"I told you so," Gray said.

"Juvia is sorry."

Gray looked at the scratch on the back of her hand. It was bleeding, but it was not very deep.

"Does it hurt ?" He asked.

Juvia shook her head.

"There's a first aid kit at the guild. We will disinfect your hand."

She nodded and they continued on their way to the guild. She could not help smiling. She glanced at the blushing ice mage. All the way, Gray had not let go of her hand. She squeezed his hand a little tighter in hers and she hoped they would not arrive at the guild right away.
