Chapter 1: A New Boss Prospect
Reborn, the boss has called for you, it seems like you have another long assignment" a stern man dressed in a suit stated
"Hmm, it hasn't been too long since the last one, oh well, better go see what he wants" a high pitched voice exclaims as a baby dressed in a suit with a Black fedora with a large Orange stripe and a chameleon on his shoulder enters the boss's office
"I guess you're asking why I called you here, Reborn, it seems like another Midoriya has been born" an old man with bushy gray eyebrows and pure gray hair dressed in a suit stated
"Hmm, do you think this one might have…the potential" Reborn asked his superior
"Well, considering how legendary the boy's father is in Italy, it's not out of the realm of possibility, your assignment is to watch over this kid from a distance until you're completely sure he doesn't have the potential, and if he does, your job is to train him to eventually replace me, I'm getting on in years, and after what happened with my son all those years ago, I want to retire" the boss sighed as he pinched his sinuses, "Anyway, his name is Izuku, he lives at this address with his mother" The old boss stated as he handed Reborn a slip of paper
"I accept this assignment, Young Timmy" Reborn smirked as the chameleon on his shoulder transformed into a parachute and Reborn jumped from the window
"Good luck, Reborn-sensei" the boss stated as he pulled a cigar out of the draw in his desk and smoked it
"Mom it's computer time" a young boy with shaggy green hair exclaimed excitedly as he tugged on his mom's dress
"Really? Is it that time already, alright then" a woman with brown hair wearing an apron with a green dress underneath said as she unlocked the computer, "you know, you've probably added 10,000 views to this video yourself Izuku" she stated as she opened up a video of a hero saving people
"Hmm, so that's who you've become after all these years, good job, Idiot Toshi" Reborn whispered with a smirk as for the family to not hear him
"HE'S THE COOLEST IN THE UNIVERSE!" Izuku yelled in excitement as he held up his All Might plush, "I hope one day, I can be a hero just as great as him"
"Sorry kid, it's not gonna happen" a doctor with black sunglasses, a bald head and a big bushy mustache said
Izuku froze up, shocked by this fact
"You have 2 joints in your pinky toe, most people have evolved past the need for that extra joint and thus only have one, those people all have quirks, meaning if you have 2 joints, You can't have a quirk, sorry kid" the doctor frowned
"Hmm, just like him, maybe Young Timmy was right after all" Reborn smirked, "Alright, let's get this show on the road
"HOPE HAS ARRIVED" a voice yelled from the computer screen, "BECAUSE I AM HERE" it said as it panned to a blonde man with wrinkles, massive muscles and a smile carrying 4 people, however, the one watching the video from the computer had no such expression on his face, just sadness and a feeling that his dreams had been crushed
His mother saw this and ran over to him, "I'm Sorry, Izuku" she cried into his arms
"That was not what I needed to hear, mom" Izuku thought as he just sat there
"You'll find your flame" a high pitched voice, that Izuku could swear he heard said
"Huh, what was that mom?" Izuku asked
"I didn't say anything" Izuku's mom sniffled
"Hey, did you know that Izuku can be read as "Deku" a young boy with white spiky hair teased "that means someone who can't do anything"
"Hey, that's mean, Kaachan" Izuku pouted
"Wow, you can read Kanji, Kaachan" one of Bakugo's friends exclaimed
"What, you can't?" Bakugo teased
"Wow Kaachan, You're so smart" another one of Bakugo's friends exclaimed
"This Bakugo kid is kind of an egotist, still, he does seem quite good" Reborn stated
"Ooh, another impressive quirk" an elementary school teacher exclaimed at her student, "you could really be an impressive hero with that"
"Hmm, I agree, he would make a great hero, but for that, he needs to be in check, you can't have him running wild with a massive Ego" Reborn thought
"Makes sense, I am amazing, the one destined to be the next all might, the greatest hero of all time" Bakugo exclaimed
"Hmm, just as I thought, Ego" Reborn frowned
"Forward March, Bakugo agency" Bakugo chanted
"It seems like that Bakugo is in charge of the group, maybe Young Timmy should have considered him instead, i could train him right" Reborn smirked
The "Bakugo agency" consisting of Bakugo as the leader, the two friends who were with him before and Izuku marched forward, until they got to a tree trunk and Bakugo fell off, down into the river below
"Woah, Kaachan are you okay?" One of his friends asked
"Don't worry, Kaachan is strong, he'll be fine" another friend responded
"Kaachan, are you hurt?" Izuku asked, now in the river that Bakugo fell in after running after him, offering his hand to help him up, "Hope you didn't hit your head"
Bakugo just looked at him, feeling like he was so far beneath him
"A good boss always cares for his subordinates, no matter how scared he is, this kid has sky ring written all over him" Reborn thought with a smirk
Today started as just another day in the Midoriya household, Izuku woke up late as usual, but still managed to get to school on time thanks to his mother's rushing efforts, and as usual, Reborn was watching him from a tree, just like he usually does
"Hey, I hear that Deku doesn't even have a quirk" One of Bakugo's goons teased as every laughed
"What a loser" another one said as Izuku sat, shocked and still
"Alright, that's enough" One of the teachers shouted, "even if Izuku doesn't have a quirk, he's still special"
"Not as special as me" Bakugo boasted
"Enough, Katsuki, or I'll move your name" Another teacher said, sternly
"Alright, alright" Bakugo said smugly
"Hrn, little prick" Reborn grimaced, "I'm gonna make his life hell"
And so, the school day passed like usual, with the kids all bullying Izuku for being weak
"NEWS FLASH, HOME TUTOR HERO, REBORN HAS BEEN SPOTTED AROUND THE CITY" A news anchor on the TV shouted
"No Way, Reborn! He's one of my favorite heroes" Izuku shouted, "It's rumored that he even trained All Might"
"Too bad you're just a quirkless loser, Deku, maybe he would teach you, although I doubt it, even if you had a quirk, why would he want to teach you when he could train someone like me" Bakugo boasted
"Yeah, why would he see you when he could train Kaachan" one of Bakugo's cronies teased
"Oh shit, I've been spotted, I should make myself more scarce" Reborn grimaced as he hid deeper into the tree
After school that day
"Enough, Kaachan" Izuku exclaimed, protecting a weak boy who Bakugo was beating on
"So Deku, the Quirkless Wonder thinks he can play hero, huh, I guess it's time I teach you a lesson" Bakugo stated as he punched his hand with an explosion, "DIE" he yelled before rushing towards Izuku and knocking him out with an explosion
"You know, I probably could have helped this kid out, if I knew it was gonna die" Izuku thought, as he fell back, unresponsive
"Oh damn, Kaachan, what are we gonna do, you killed him" One of Bakugo's cronies panicked
"B…but, I didn't even hit him that hard, he's gotta just be playing, right" Bakugo panicked" "Get up, Deku" Bakugo poked him, "GET UP YOU STUPID NERD" Bakugo screamed in fear as a tear came down his cheek
"It's time" Reborn smirked as he watched with anticipation
Suddenly, Izuku's body started to glow, and a flame appeared on his head, his eyes turned white and he rose
"REBORN! I'LL PROTECT THIS KID, EVEN IF IT COSTS ME MY LIFE" Izuku yelled as he ran to attack the off guard Bakugo, he landed one punch and before he could react, he was sent flying into a brick wall, knocked unconscious himself
"W…what the heck" one of Bakugo's cronies said in a state of shock
"Come on, let's get out of here" the other said as he pulled the first crony away as Izuku started to chase after them, however, before he could catch them, the flame on his head disappeared and his eyes had pupils again
"Huh? What happened?" Izuku questioned, rubbing his nape and looking around as he spots Bakugo
"AH, KAACHAN, WHAT HAPPENED" Izuku screamed seeing the bloodied state Bakugo was in after being hit into a wall with the force of 100 Deku's, "I'LL GO GET A TEACHER"
And so Izuku rushed off to go find one of his teachers
"OH MY GOD, IZUKU, WHAT HAPPENED" The teacher exclaimed in shock
"I don't know, Bakugo was beating up a kid, then he hit me with one of his attacks, then I woke up and saw this" Izuku sniffled, starting to cry
"Don't worry, I'm not mad at you, I'm just concerned, I know it was an accident, but maybe you should get another Appointment with the quirk doctor to see how this happened" The Teacher explained, now more level headed
"Mm-hm" Izuku nodded, sniffling
"Now I'm going to have to call an ambulance and get him to hospital, I'd suggest you get home as soon as possible, Izuku" the teacher suggested as Izuku ran off home
"Welp, I guess it's time I got to Plan B, I've already got a few ideas on how I can maximize his progress" Reborn states, looking at Bakugo, "I'm gonna make good on my promise, little brat"
"MOM, MOM, WE HAVE TO GO TO THE QUIRK DOCTORS RIGHT AWAY, SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED AT SCHOOL" Izuku yelled to his mother before explaining the events of the day to her
"Oh that is very serious, I'll get an emergency appointment today" Inko stated before dialing the Doctor's office
"Doctor, My Son, Izuku Midoriya seems to have manifested his quirk" Inko stated over the phone
"Izuku Midoriya? That's impossible, he was deemed quirkless, You should bring him in right away" The doctor told Inko
"Right, we'll come right now, thank you doctor" Inko said as she hung up
"Now, Izuku, tell me exactly what happened" The doctor asked the small green haired child
"Well, this bully, Bakugo was beating up a kid, then when I tried to protect him, he attacked me, I was out for a while, then I woke up and saw that he was punched into a wall"
"Hmm, interesting, and you believe you were the one behind it?" The doctor asked
"Mm-hm" Izuku nodded
"Ok, this quirk might be very dangerous, so we're gonna have to do some tests on him to help you control it, is that ok?" The doctor asked Inko
"Well, if this quirk is as dangerous as you think it is, then I guess we'll have to get a hold of it" Inko responded
"Alright, so we're going to start by administering some Knock out gas, the idea behind this is that we believe that this quirk is activated by Izuku being knocked out, is that alright?
"If it means i don't accidentally hurt anyone again, i guess i'll have to" Izuku stated as he climbed on to the doctor's bed and the doctor put the mask on him
"Now Izuku, count back from 100 for me" the doctor asked
"Alright,one hundred, ninety-nine… ninety-eight… ninety-seven… ninety-six ..ninety…zzzzzzzzz" Izuku said as he drifted off to sleep
"Alright, no changes so far, i think it's safe to say that this wasn't the cause of Izuku's quirk awakening, wake him up" another doctor said as the doctor woke up Izuku
"Anything?" Izuku asked
"Nope" the doctor shook his head, "Now, we may have to administer some more tests, and they may hurt a little, as long as thats ok with you two" the doctor stated
"If that's the way it has to be, i just want to be one hundred percent sure he won't hurt people on accident, i know how serious of trouble he could be in if that happens, do as you must, Doctor" Inko responded
"Alright, we're good to go" the doctor said before being interrupted
"Ciao-su" A High-pitched voice said in what looks like a fancy dress doctor's costume with black hair
"Well, if it isn't the famous Dr. Borin, i'm glad you came when you did, we have this kid here who claims to have awakened a quirk even though he was deemed quirkless, your expertise is necessary here" the doctor informed the tiny doctor
"NO WAY, IS THAT REBORN!? THE HOME TUTOR HERO?" Izuku questioned in excitement
"No, he is my brother, we have similar quirks, so it makes sense why you would be confused" Borin informed Izuku, "Anyway, i think i might know how to draw that quirk of yours out" Borin said, as the chameleon on his shoulder transformed into a handgun, "Now, just die for me, once" Borin whispered as he jumped up and shot Izuku right in the nape
"You know, i probably could have discovered my quirk, if i knew it was gonna cost me my life" Izuku thought as he fell unconscious
"HE'S UNRESPONSIVE, BORIN, WHAT DID YOU DO" The doctor asked as the doctors rushed in to help Izuku
"I know this looks bad, but just trust me on this" Borin asked as the doctors stopped
"REBORN! I'LL DISCOVER MY POWER, EVEN IF IT COSTS ME MY LIFE" Izuku yelled as a flame appeared on his forehead and his pupils went white and he rose up and started causing havoc around the doctor's office, before running out of the office and on to the streets
"WAIT, IZUKU, COME BACK" Inko yelled at her son
"Don't worry Maman, i'll go after him" Borin reassured her as he left the office
Izuku was rampaging around the town, running through the streets and bumping into cars, getting sent flying in the process, unhurt it seems, even running into some of Bakugo's cronies in the process who remember Izuku's look from earlier and promptly cower in fear, all before his power runs out, in a field far away from the office
"Wha?...Where am I, where's my mom? Did it happen again?" Izuku asked
"In a field halfway across town, back at the Doctor's office and yup, it did" A high pitched voice in a suit and black fedora with an orange stripe through it and a chameleon on his shoulder answered as Izuku looked to see who said that, "Ciao-su, Izuku"
"AH! NO WAY, IT REALLY IS YOU, THE HOME TUTOR HERO, REBORN!" Izuku yelled in excitement, "I'VE BEEN A FAN OF YOURS FOREVER, I'VE EVEN PRAYED TO GOD THAT YOU WOULD TEACH ME HOW TO BE A TRUE HERO, IS IT TRUE YOU TRAINED ALL MIGHT?" Izuku fanboyed out
"You'll find out in due time, anyway, i'm here to tell you about that power of yours, it's a very rare and strong power, one that only one other man in the history has ever been able to use, his name was The First Hero: Giotto Midoriya" Reborn explained
"First Hero? Midoriya?" Izuku questioned, "WAIT, THAT'S MY LAST NAME!" Izuku figured out
"That's right, he was your ancestor, but anyway, that's enough about that, your power is called "The Dying Will Flame" or just "Dying Will" this is a power that may seem weak at first, and may be difficult to temper, but eventually, with my help, you can temper this power and learn to use it in the same way he did, now, will you accept my tutelage, Izuku Midoriya"
Izuku felt like he was the happiest person in the world, that finally, after all of the hard times he had suffered at the hands of Bakugo and his cronies, God had finally answered his prayers and sent him an angel without wings, or is that a bit too far, regardless
"OF COURSE I ACCEPT" Izuku yelled as he cheered
"Alright, now that that's over with, your mother must be worried sick about you, Come on, lets go" Reborn instructed
"Right!" Izuku followed with glee as Reborn put the Doctor's outfit back on
"Oh, so there was no Borin" Izuku asked
"Yup, i'm one of a kind, nobody else has this power" Reborn smirked as the two made their way back to the Doctor's Office
OH IZUKU" Inko shrieked "I WAS WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU, WHERE DID YOU GET OFF TO"
"Sorry, mom" Izuku cried
"Oh well, I guess it's not your fault your quirk went out of control" Inko responded, calming down a bit
"Anyway, so now that we've established that you have a mutated quirk, let's discuss how to address it and I'll create a description. What do you want to call your quirk, Izuku Midoriya?" The Doctor questioned the boy
"My quirk is called, Dying Will" Izuku said with confidence
"Ah, Dying Will it is, a great name" the doctor responds, "Dying Will: When Izuku is knocked out, a Flame Will sprout on his head and he will lose control, but he will also get 100x stronger than an average human, this only works if he is knocked out by physical means and cannot be induced by things like knock out gas and will only last for 5 minutes, after this, Midoriya will have little to no memory of what happened over this time" the doctor told Izuku and his mother
"Alright, thank you, doctor, and you too, Dr. Borin" Inko thanked the pair.
"Wait, before you go, I'll see if I can get my brother to tutor Young Izuku here, he seems like he has great potential if he can learn to control his power" Borin said to the mother, looking at Izuku with a knowing smile
"Why, thank you, that would be incredibly helpful" Inko responded with a smile, "Bye now"
And off they went home
The next day
Izuku overslept after a long day last night, and his mother heard a knock on the door.
"Ciao-su, I am the Home Tutor Hero, Reborn!" Reborn introduced himself to Inko, "I was brought here by my brother to teach your son how to be a hero, and of course in Math, English, Japanese, Science, etc"
"Oh, that's right, Dr. Borin said something about that, Let me just go and get Izuku" Inko responded, "IZU-KUN, WAKE UP" Inko screamed at Izuku
"Wha-huh?" Izuku said, half asleep, "coming, mom" Izuku said sleepily, "WAAAAAAH" Izuku shrieked as he fell down the stairs, he looked up at the tiny, well dressed figure somehow looking down on him wearing a black fedora with an Orange stripe, a black and white suit, with a chameleon on his shoulder
"Ciao-su" Reborn said, greeting Izuku
"Wah, Reborn! What are you doing here!" Izuku questioned
"I'm your Home Tutor, that is my moniker after all" Reborn responded
"Wow, this is awesome, I'm actually gonna be a hero just like All Might, being trained by one of the best around" Izuku yelled excitedly
"Now, with that all said, and done, Quirk training starts…Now" Reborn tells the boy
