There was a collective sigh of relief throughout the first year students of Beacon Academy as initiation drew to a close. They had fought, struggled, and survived the first test of their new year, and for many of them, that was a cause for rest for the next week. Even the teachers were breathing easy now that they didn't have to make sure any idiotic kids died under their supervision. Everyone was taking a moment to themselves, introducing themselves to their teams, putting their feet up, and generally resting. Everyone, except for one.

Glynda Goodwitch stalked through the halls, her glare chasing away even the most adventurous of souls. She had just got through putting all the records for the students away into their teams files when she had come across an anomaly. One student's file didn't have any of the records that the rest did. She had expected Ruby Rose's to be short, since she had two less years of schooling, but she wasn't anticipating this.

Jaune Arc.

While she had her reservations at first, seeing his lack of any real combat ability in initiation, the way he had commanded his team had given credence to why he was here. His own ability to fight could grow over the years, but a natural born leader and tactician? She could see him being admitted just for that. But Jaune Arc had no records whatsoever. He was in the system, sure. But there was no paper record at all, and when she called Patch, Taiyang said he had never heard of a Jaune Arc. She was certain that Taiyang wasn't lying, and she knew only one man reckless enough to throw an untrained civilian into the Emerald Forest on the basis of "potential".

"Ozpin!" Glynda roared, slamming the door to his office aside. She stormed up to his desk, slamming her hands down on the center of it, noting the guest in the room, but not yet processing them, such was her rage. "You allowed a civilian, one with no aura at all, with no training, into Beacon? What were you thinking? Nicholas will come and lambast us all for the danger we put his son into! What were you thinking, throwing Arc into the forest like that?"

Glynda stood there, heaving for breath, staring straight into Ozpin's eyes, willing an answer though sheer force of will. She'd take any reasonable answer he had, anything that would save them from a lawsuit the likes Beacon hadn't seen before.

Ozpin, who had leaned back at her slamming his desk, leaned forward in his chair once more, sighing and putting his hands on the desk as well. He knew this was coming, but he was hoping for at least another week or two, when he had more time to observe the Arc boy and decide what to do with him as well. Well, he thought, wishes were never for me anyway. I should have known this was coming.

Ozpin cleared his throat and pushed himself up from his desk and chair, then gestured to his ignored guest. "Glynda, may I introduce you to my guest? He was just about to introduce himself when you, ah, let yourself in."

Glynda snorted, calming down just a bit, and stood up straight. She looked over her shoulder at the figure sitting in one of the guest chairs. Whoever it was, they had a long dark blue cloak wrapped all over his body, obscuring even his face. His hands, resting on his lap, were fair skinned, and clenching the robe itself. Perhaps in fear? Anxiety? A small amount of regret wormed its way through her rage. She hadn't meant to scare anyone. Aside from Ozpin, of course.

Glynda sighed. "My apologies," She sighed. She turned towards them, back straight and face stern. She nodded towards them slightly as an apology. "I had no notion that we had a guest, and I apologize again for my outburst, and interrupting your meeting with the Headmaster."

The figure stood still for a second, then its shoulders started to shake a bit. A snicker escaped it, and then a small chuckle and then deep gasping laughs as their shoulders started shaking more and more. Ozpin and Glynda shared a quick look, neither of them sure what was so funny in what had happened, but at least they now knew something of their guest. Going by the voice, they were male, and might be on the younger side as well.

The figure's shoulders slowly stopped as his laughs subsided, a couple of hiccups following as he caught his breath. He straightened in his seat, small chuckles still escaping him.

"That was honestly a riot," came the voice once more. It was deep, rough, and most definitely a mans. "I know that neither of you know why I'm laughing, and I do apologize for that. It does coincide with why I'm here, though."

Both Ozpin and Glynda were confused now. This figure was implying that he was here for either Jaune Arc, or for Ozpin and throwing untrained civilians into dangerous situations. Neither of these were potentially good, as they knew all of the Arcs, and none of them sounded like this man, so him having an interest in Jaune Arc made no sense. And he wasn't one of the council. They both knew all of the members of that particular body, and none of them had this voice.

"Excuse me," Ozpin cautiously put forth. "We don't quite understand what you mean by that. May we have your name first?

The man's robe tilted to the side, as he cocked his head. "I suppose I could introduce myself to you two first," he hummed. "But I do so hate repeating myself. I'd rather do it all at once."

Alarm bells were going off in Glynda's head. Something about this man was setting something in her off. His assumption he would be talking to more people first, his unwillingness to just introduce himself, the lack of a face to him so far. She gripped her crop more tightly as she tensed, just in case she needed to move for something.

The strangers head shot towards Glynda's direction as she tensed, as if knowing exactly what she was thinking. He shook his head slightly, a small chuckle escaping him once more.

"Ah, the anxiety of you young people! It never ceases to amaze me!" He sighed slightly standing up from his chair. Both Glynda and Ozpin tensed up, both getting ready for something, anything that may need to happen. He merely raised one hand to the side, in a snapping position.

"I will see you both soon, I expect. Try and keep the peace, as you won't be able to do much anyway." Both Glynda and Ozpin tried to jump back, but they both saw and heard it, as if it echoed.

Snap!

The last thing they saw was a flash of bright light, like a flashbang was set off all around them, and then they disappeared from the office. The stranger stood there for a second more, and turned away and seemed to walk into nothingness. One moment he was taking a step, and the next, he was just gone.

Well, this is my first story, so please leave any constructive comments you can. We'll be reacting to a fair few different stories, and I will credit each one as it comes up in the chapters they do.
