Chapter 1
Naruto knew things weren't going to be the same after the war, but he never imagined how difficult it would be to pick up the pieces. Many minor villages, and towns were either damaged beyond repair or completely annihilated by the God Tree's roots. The death toll was in the millions, and from what they'd been able to figure out about 93% of their total population was dead. Now, a year later they were still trying to get a foothold on some sense of normalcy. Even if it was difficult.
"We're not asking the Daimyo about our budget since the last thing we want is for him to decrease it, again." Kakashi said. "We're struggling enough as it is."
"Does he not realize that we need funds in order to not only rebuild the village, but help the Land of Fire as a whole?" Shikamaru asked.
He was representing the Nara clan in this meeting.
"He does which is why we aren't asking, he wants to keep power over us even now, and he can do that by exploiting our financial needs." He responded.
"And by hoarding a percentage of food that was supposed to go to us—oh did I say hoarding?" Naruto frowned. "I meant to say stealing, and saying that it's compensation for the extra money he gives us."
A few months back Naruto had been asked to attend council meetings as the head of the Uzumaki Clan, and as a prominent figure with political pull. He had made use of what connections Jiraiya had left while making a few of his own in order to find out what was going on. Needless to say he didn't approve of the Daimyo.
"Two of the merchants that were supposed to come here were robbed, they're alive, but their cargo is with the parasite" Naruto stated. "Getting an official message to the other villages is a bit difficult, but my contact in what was the Land of Rivers was able to get replies from the other Kage."
"That took them faster than I thought it would." Shikamaru said. "Three days in times like this."
"Yeah well the replies were basically all the same."
"The same?" Kakashi inquired.
"Yeah, it looks like our Daimyo isn't the only one acting like this, it's all of them with Kumo having it worse since the Raikage said some not nice words to the Daimyo before he died in the war." Naruto explained. "It's a good thing I had the Tailed Beasts go into hiding, the water Daimyo wants to find, and use Isobu."
"Is he insane?!"
"We had an agreement!"
"If he breaks it then-"
"He won't find Isobu, none of them will be found; the only ones whose location are known is myself, and Uncle B." Naruto said. 'Plus they're safe inside their revived Jinchūriki.'
"Good for them, but we still have other problems that effect normal citizens." Someone said.
"The lack of building materials is mostly due to the fact that we can barely afford them, he's stealing a percentage of our food as Naruto has said, and any sort of alliance we have with certain minor villages is kept secret so the Daimyo doesn't find out." Shikamaru said. "He can't keep this up, especially if the rest of the Land of Fire were to start speaking up."
Start rumors that would be found to truthful, and make them doubt the Daimyo's sanity. They had to secretly undermine the man whenever possible while trying to safely gather what they needed. Even so they were still panicking as it wouldn't solve the problem instantly.
Naruto's mind went back to the fight with Madara. The man had brought down a meteor bigger than anything they'd seen. The Uchiha had planned to end the fight, but something had stirred inside of him before they could all be killed. Something that had mixed with all the chakra in his body, and the natural energy he was drawing in.
"I need more!" the blonde exclaimed as the meteor pushed him down. "This power isn't enough, I need more natural energy!"
The amount in this area was diminished so he would go farther, deeper, and draw in even more even if it meant destroying his body. As long as Madara was destroyed then everything would be alright. This would all be worth it!
"I need more!" he exclaimed as he reached deeper into the planet. "Not just from here, but from there as well!"
His voice was heard, and natural energy from the planet and sun flowed into him as well.
He succeeded and hadn't died much to everyone's shock. Even killing Madara with the power boost was a surprise, somehow he was still alive.
"On a lighter note, Naruto, how are your studies in magic going?" Kakashi asked.
"The scrolls that my clan left behind have helped immensely." Naruto stated. "Magic isn't that hard to understand once you memorize certain sigils, it's like fuijutsu which is way harder." He explained. 'They made so many spells that can mix with chakra, it's like they saw this coming.' - "But that aside, I believe we should possibly consider the possibility of seeking aid from the Land of Spring."
This surprised them quite a bit as the Land of Waves hadn't been brought up before.
"Koyuki, and I have been talking via the toads." He stated. "Their situation is better than ours, and as allies they're willing to help us get back on our feet." – "Thing is they can't be seen publicly helping us or the Fire Daimyo will interfere."
"So our only capable ally is unable to assist us." Hisashi Hyuga sighed.
"I have an idea that would work if we're careful enough."
"Let's hear it, any idea is better than no idea."
"I can use the portal spell to travel between here and the Land of Spring, we could secretly transport supplies from there to here without anyone knowing." The blonde explained. "I can probably make something that'll activate them on command, but it'll take some time."
"That's a good idea and all, but why didn't you suggest this sooner?"
"I couldn't properly cast the spell on command before, it wouldn't have been safe, but now it is." He explained. "I'm not going to suggest a plan that's unnecessarily dangerous, I've matured."
'The fact that you have to actually say it…' Hisashi sighed. 'Well she did love you when she was alive.'
"Kakashi-sensei as long as this is kept completely secret then we can recover."
"But to what end?" Shikamaru asked. "The Daimyo will take what he wants when he sees that we're doing better."
There was true as the man was a full blown tyrant.
"I can only think of one permanent solution to this problem, we need to end the Daimyo's reign for good along with his chokehold on the Land of Fire." Naruto said. "Towns and smaller villages are suffering just like us with some coming here out of desperation."
"Does he mean…"
"We just got out of a war."
"But, with the way things are going…"
"He had a capital built on the backs of civilians, and shinobi who he claimed to 'rescue'."
"Slaves."
"Naruto you realize what you're suggesting, right?" Kakashi asked, his voice now stern wanting the blonde to know that he needed to be very careful with his words.
"Yes, and we need this." He said. "We won't survive with him alive, and I know the people are sick of him; they have been ever since dad died."
This was true. The man was so shameless that he took advantage of Minato's death, and seized back what power the man had begun to take from him. Naruto has the same idea his father did back then; end the era of the Daimyo.
"Perhaps we should focus on recovering before we talk about rebelling." Hana Inuzuka said as the head of the Inuzuka Clan. "Let's do that, and focus on the latter later down the line." – "The idea is solid so let's go with it."
It was a good plan. Everyone else thought so as well, and since magic was Naruto's specialty it would be unexpected. Nobody would suspect that a portal was how they were getting supplies. Hell very few people knew that Naruto could use magic, and even fewer knew about the change his body had gone through because of his absorbing so much natural energy.
They would discuss the plan for a good while before ending the meeting. They would let Naruto handle the preparations in the Land of Spring. Yet something bothered them, how long had he and Koyuki been talking to each other. What had he told her, and how much?
Konoha – Naruto's Apartment
It was advanced technology which is why it was both crucial, and exciting. Ever since he was young he was interested in technological development, but the Third told him that such things were beyond him. Despite this his interest never died, instead he wrote down his thoughts, and sketched in a journal over the years. It allowed his mind to calm down, and helped him focus. Of course very few people knew about this.
Naruto stared up at the night sky, it was full of stars. They were beautiful. Next to him was Sakura, she'd seen him come out to the Training Ground.
"There's no telling what the future holds so we're going to make sure we're prepared to face it; no matter what or who it is." - "Hell we'll be able to take on enemies from the stars!"
"The stars?" The pinkette asked now confused.
"Yeah." He let out a sigh. "This is going to sound insane, and pretty stupid, but ever since I was a child I had this aching desire to see it." He reached for the sky, his eyes full of longing. "I want to see what's out there among the stars, there's something more than this fucked up world." - "I want to be free!"
"Naruto you…" she could see that his desire was real as was his belief that there was more out there.
"As I said it sounds insane, honestly I-"
"It's not insane, just a bit surprising." She said.
Naruto couldn't help but smile at the memory. It was the day that part of him, that desire was once more accepted by someone. The first person to do so was Jiraiya.
"If that's what you really believe then you should actually try to see it all before you become Hokage." Jiraiya said. "Besides you aren't the only one who craves more than what this world has to offer, we should go together don't you think?" he smiled.
Wherever the old man was, Naruto hoped that he was able to see beyond this planet. To see what he to desired more than the title of Hokage. He had the recognition he desired, but he needed to see it; he needed to see what was among the stars.
"I wonder if those engineers in the Land of Spring finished building what I sent them?" Naruto mused out loud. "No, I told them that those airships are more important so they shouldn't focus on my experiment yet."
'It would be a lot easier if you had the materials to build it yourself.' Kurama said. 'It's certainly advanced that, wait what did you call it?'
"Space shuttle that's what I named it since it's not a ship, a space ship would need to be a lot bigger plus have the capacity to hold hundreds maybe thousands of people." He said only to smile. "One day we'll get there, but for now let's focus on getting a single person to say the moon."
'Be careful that ambition could spell your doom if you're not careful.' The tailed beast said. 'So how do you plan on making this portal plan work?'
"Simple, I'll make a magical core similar to the chakra core that was made in order to solve the village's electricity problem, then I'll construct a physical gate, inscribe the sigils and runes, and make it so that only certain people can activate it." Naruto explained. "That's the simple way of putting it, it should only take me a couple days."
He would use the toads to send a message to Koyuki telling her to get everything ready, and that he would create a physical gate in the Land of Spring for the plan. He would simply need time to create the one in Konoha.
The Next Day – Konoha
Magic clones were much more resilient than normal shadow clones, but the drawback was that they couldn't get to far away from him. Thankfully he didn't need them to go far, just do some heavy lifting while he worked. There were a few others helping out as well, with building the physical gate while he worked on the magic core. It was a delicate process that he had to be careful with, and if he wasn't careful then the condensed magic would leave the core.
If he didn't understand magic so well then this wouldn't be possible. The blonde had used the spell create greater item to make a casing made from prismatic ore, specifically celestial uranium. It was a sort of artificial ore made using magic, and chakra.
'This was used to create those weapons.' Kurama said. 'How many do you have again?'
"Let's see I found 46 in the vault, fixed 12 of them, and nearly got myself killed making 7 so 65 in total." Naruto answered. "Why didn't Uzushiogakure use them to save themselves?"
'Azurah was sealed away because of how dangerous it was, and Tyrant was so powerful that nobody could use it without it going out of control.' Kurama explained. 'Remember the Land of Whirlpools wasn't always an island, so both are last resorts.' – 'A lot of those are last resorts.'
Kurama knew how dangerous they truly were, and that some of them shouldn't even exist.
'The Uzumaki were really amazing when it came to seals, magic, information gathering and weapons of mass destruction.'
This was true, and it's one of the reasons Uzushiogakure had been so prosperous. It also brought about their doom at the hands of forces they hadn't seen coming. Naruto wouldn't suffer the same fate, and neither would the rest of the Elemental Nations. Uzushiogakure had been peace loving, and preferred the diplomatic approach rather than resorting to violence first. Yet they were destroyed anyway, and it infuriated Naruto to no end.
He still had yet to find out who these unseen forces were.
"Got to calm down." He said. "Focus on work, and not the tragic past." He sighed.
The blonde continued to work, his gaze on the core and nothing else. When he needed more hands he would create chakra hands to work simultaneously, it was a marvel to those who saw how graceful he was while creating something that could power Konoha for years to come. It was genius, he was a genius, and they needed that more than ever. But why was this only coming out now?
Twelve hours passed, and the sun began to go down, but the blonde hadn't noticed. Nor had he noticed when Kurama's head came out, and told everyone they could head home for the day. He was to engrossed in the core which was the size of his head, spherical in shape, white in color with complex runes going across the surface for extra stabilization and safety. It was complete, the most advanced power source in the Elemental Nations maybe the world was done in the span of 14 hours, it was insane by all means.
What took hours was the secret component inside that only Naruto could create, without it the core wouldn't work, and at worst it might explode.
"You know it's scary how easily I made this." Naruto said. "I guess this was the easy part." – "The physical gate is the tricky part considering how I'll have to combine it all together in order to link two portal spells together while making sure it doesn't link up to the Astral Sea."
The blonde groaned as this was going to get a bit more complicated, and that was putting it nicely. Even so as long as he could succeed once he could succeed with this one then the second one should be easy enough to make and program. For now however he would go home, eat, and sleep. Though he wouldn't get much of that last one.
