"I swear I thought she was a zombie! Look, she's covered in dried blood, and she was stumbling. I shot on instinct! How was I supposed to know that you two knew each other?"

"How do you know a snake anyways Harry?" Ron asked and Harry rolled his eyes at the disgusted in his friend's tone. Even though Hogwarts no longer existed Ron still carried an unusual prejudice against people from Slytherin. It was all a little ridiculous to him but with the state of the world, he just didn't have the energy to deal with the redhead's prejudices from years ago.

"Leave it alone. I'll deal with this." Harry snapped.

Hermione rolled her eyes and pulled Ron out of the healing tent and left Harry alone with just the injured brunette.

Harry's eyes ran up and down the woman's body checking over her injuries. She looked different than the last time he saw her which since it had been a year wasn't that surprising. That brown leather jacket looked new and if he was being honest looked very good on her.

"Okay, they're gone now. You can stop pretending now."

His statement was greeted with silence and Harry felt like he could see her brain running over each scenario and he wondered if she would give in and admit she was awake.

"Who said I was pretending?"

Harry rolled his eyes, sat in the chair at her bedside, and reached out a hand to cup her cheek. His thumb gently ran across her cheek, and he whispered, "Can you open your eyes for me? It's been too long since I've seen your gorgeous brown eyes."

Her eyes fluttered open and Harry felt like the weight on his chest finally lifted. It had been over a year since they had seen each other and ever since she hadn't shown up at their standard meeting area, he had worried that she had died. That the zombies had finally breached the safe zone and she no longer walked the earth.

"Hey," Harry whispered.

"Hey."

"I missed you. What happened, Trace? Why weren't you there? I didn't get the date wrong, did I? I thought we agreed on February, at Godric's Hollow. It had been a couple of years since we'd been back there so figured it would be safe. And it's far enough away that normally the dead don't bother us the…"

Harry was interrupted from continuing his ramble when Tracey grabbed his neck and pulled him forward into a forceful kiss.

"Merlin, I've missed you, Potter," Tracey sighed out once the pair separated, "I'm sorry about not missing our meet-up. Our camp was decimated. We thought we were pretty safe but unfortunately, security got a little lax and a zombie got in during the night. And you know what happens when even just one of those fuckers gets in and nobody knows."

"Yeah," Harry sighed with a nod. They too had recently moved camp for the same reason, "Are you finally ready to join our little community?" Harry asked hopefully. He wanted her close. It was hard enough during school to hide their relationship and then when the world ended in their sixth year, they had to deal with just meet-ups three or four times a year and Harry was done. He wanted his girlfriend by his side as they faced the end of the world.

"Yeah. I'm ready. I told Daphne and she is gathering up what is left of her family, and we'll need to go get her so that she can come too."

"Anything you want," Harry whispered and pulled her into a tight hug.
