A/N: Hey everyone! I decided to write this short one-shot of Seto Kaiba and Téa Gardner. I'm more of a Blueshipper but I wanted to give Azureshipping a chance. I think they are very cute.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! and its characters. They are all owned by Kazuki Takahashi.
Happy October 25th and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Seto Kaiba!
Maybe we*
Could be

"Miss Gardner, this has been the third time I caught you daydreaming. Is there something you want to share with the rest of the class?"
Professor Richards could be an ass for the silliest situations. Her intention was not to ignore the "fun" History lecture. That old man had problems ordering every classmate to turn in a five-page essay on what was discussed this week. That man was ridiculous, and she knew every student would agree with her. She was a bright student but lately her mind had been trailing somewhere else – or rather someone else.
"Um, yeah… I mean no, sorry Professor Richards. It won't happen again," she apologized, and the instructor did not push the subject anymore.
"As I was saying class, you have until Monday to finish this assignment. Failure to turn it in on time, your grade will be affected tremendously," he said in a strict tone. "Any questions before I let you guys leave?"
A young blonde man raised his hand. "Prof, why did it have to be five pages. It could have been only a paragraph."
The older man gave him a serious look. "It shouldn't be a problem to write five pages if you have paid attention throughout the entire lecture, Joseph. I suggest you do this assignment; it can help your grade immensely."
Joey wanted to whine but since he already had a bad reputation in that class – mainly because of his not so good grades, he wanted to keep an exemplary behavior. There have been times he has wanted to slap Mr. Richards but he contained himself. He promised himself he was going to get a good grade in this class. Or at least tried to get a passing score. "What's up with that old geezer, guys? Seems like he hasn't enjoyed his life. It's like every week he tortures us with something new. Last week was an exam and now a long ass essay."
Another male figure laughed at his friend. "Or you are just dumb, Joey. Bro, better start paying attention, or you will fail this class."
Joey glared at his friend. "Says the one who has a lower grade than me. Maybe you should be studying more, Tristan."
Téa rolled her eyes and sighed. "Alright you two, stop making a fool out of yourselves. This senile man is going to be a pain in the ass during the school year. I don't want to fail, so I am going to get my assignments done," she stated, and Yugi smiled since he knew his friend was an overachiever.
An overachiever just like him. Seto Kaiba. The young man who sat alone at the back of the classroom, not bothering to talk to anyone. Most of the time he would be reading a book or typing on his computer. A bright young man for his age and let's not forget, the owner and CEO of Kaiba Corp. So, he had a tight schedule on his hands. He barely had time for anything. That was life and he had learned to accept this fate years ago when he was still a child.
"Oh, hey Kaiba, I hope you are doing well," Yugi said, and the other individual did not care to turn.
"While I appreciate the good wishes, I don't need them, Yugi," he scoffed, trying his best to get out of there before the Geek Squad continued babbling about their day and stuff he did not care for.
Joey never liked Kaiba so when he made those type of comments, especially to his friends, it infuriated him. "Hold it right there, rich boy! My boy Yuge was nice to you and of course you make your cold remarks. Have some compassion, pal."
Kaiba stopped walking towards the door and looked at Joey with an icy stare. "First of all, I am not your pal. We are not friends. Second, I have no time for your crap, Wheeler. And lastly, I do not care. So, I have no need to stay here to listen to your friendship tirade."
Joey was about to get up before someone else grabbed his arm. "Joey, stop it! Let it go," Téa said, making sure Joey did not do anything stupid to get suspended. Yeah, Kaiba was someone that deserved a slap but how could she slap him. Even though he was a jerk and a cold guy, she still couldn't help but think nicely of him. "Have a good evening, Kaiba," she said as she saw him depart the classroom.
He smiled a bit after hearing those words from her. Once he reached the outside of the campus, he waited for his limo to arrive. "What's taking Roland so long?" he looked at his watch since his driver was always on time.
Yugi and his friends gathered their stuff and walked towards the exit. They were relieved to be free from school for the next three days. "So, guys, want to grab a snack?" Joey asked, hoping his friends will be available.
Yugi nodded, especially because he was getting hungry and what better way to spend the rest of his Friday with the gang. "Sure Joey, I am famished!"
Yugi and the gang kept walking towards the exit, deciding to head to their usual restaurant of choice "Brunch Heaven". It was close to Yugi's place, so it wouldn't take him a long time to get home. But their eyes went to the figure standing by the exit lost in thought. "Oh, looks like Johnny Sunshine doesn't have a ride home," Joey commented, and Tristan laughed. "Or maybe his car broke down, who knows. That's rich boy territory."
Kaiba turned around and sighed as he felt Yugi and his band of geeks approaching his way. "Great, the peanut gallery is here…"
An enthusiastic girl greeted him and once he realized it was her, his demeanor softened a bit but still kept his usual cold expression. "Hey Gardner, let me guess… you geeks finally decided to head home," he said and she shook her head no. "Actually, we are heading to get some dinner and if you weren't a jerk, you happily joined us."
Seto Kaiba laughed at her statement because that wouldn't happen in a million years. That was the most ridiculous thing he had heard. Him? Part of the Geek Patrol? Absolutely never. He would have considered himself delusional if that ever happened. "Oh please, don't make me laugh further, Gardner. I wouldn't dream of hanging out with your pathetic friends and besides I have a business to run, and I am not going to waste it on playing charades with you dorks," he crossed his arms but his eyes seemed to be lost in hers. Azure eyes, just like his. Hers seemed to be full of life and they sparkled when she spoke. But he was not the only one staring; she was staring at him for some time.
The stares were not left unnoticed by Joey. He wanted to say something, but he did not want to put Téa in an embarrassing situation. Perhaps it was time to do something about it. As much as he disliked Kaiba, he wanted the best for his friend Téa. Or maybe his eyes were deceiving him and there was no such thing as Téa and Kaiba having the hots for each other. He could not imagine Kaiba dating someone, especially his good friend Téa. She was too good for him, and he couldn't imagine that jerk putting someone over his company. Well, Mokuba seemed to be the exception to that rule. Wait, Mokuba could be a key to all this. Joey thought he was a genius and besides Mokuba owed Yugi and him a favor after they saved him from getting in trouble with Kaiba. While he was thinking about that, the gang continued watching as Téa and Kaiba exchanged words.
"If you didn't have such an inflated ego, probably you would have friends!" Téa continued speaking her mind and Kaiba did not stop his comebacks.
"I don't need friends, Gardner."
Yugi scratched his head, thinking it was time to break the tension between the two, but Joey beat him to it. "Alright you two, get a room," he stated, immediately stopping the exchange between Kaiba and Téa.
That comment made both turn around and glare at Joey. Téa couldn't help but blush but she held her composure since she did not want to make her stupid crush obvious. Her heart longed for that billionaire jerk. It was something she could not help but Kaiba seemed to catch her interest in a while. Everyone assumed she liked Yugi, and it was true for some time. After he let her know that he only saw her as a friend, she put her feelings for Yugi to rest. They were only best friends so that meant to her a lot. She knew Yugi was infatuated with the new girl Mana Tachibana.
Seto Kaiba stood in silence, waiting for the band of geeks to leave. "Well dorks, if you have nothing else to say to me… go away," he said and the rest of them could only ignore his comment. They needed to head to the restaurant before it got too late. But Joey had other plans, he stood in front of Kaiba. "Hey Kaiba, your brother invited me to your place so he can show me the new video game he bought. So, you may see my handsome face over at your mansion," he smiled, and Kaiba did not look too pleased.
"And you think that is going to bother me? Not like I would be around to see your annoying face, Wheeler," he stated, making Joey burst out laughing. "Oh c'mon, rich boy. Lighten up, I'm sure you will be thanking me later."
With that, Joey made a mental note to visit the Kaiba mansion to hang out with Mokuba. Was he sure about all this? No, but if it meant to help his friend then so be it. But still, Kaiba out of all the boys in Domino City? In his opinion, she could have done better but what was there to question someone's feelings. Yugi noticed Joey in a trance until he managed to gather his attention. "Earth to Joey!"
Kaiba rolled his eyes but once again they met hers. She seemed to be enthralled by his cobalt eyes, and surprisingly he did not mind. While the rest were busy babbling, Kaiba made his way to Gardner. He did not get too close but in a way wanted to see her in proximity. "So, Gardner... is this how you geeks spend your day?"
Téa shot him a glare, wanting to avoid making a scene with Seto Kaiba. She cared about her friends and some of his comments were unnecessary but lately, she has been keeping her composure. Not only because she wanted to prove her good student status but avoid babbling her newfound feelings for Seto Kaiba. "You know Kaiba, sometimes it serves you better to stay silent."
Mokuba was staring at the large plasma television in the living room for a good reason. His attention was primarily focused on the game that was on the screen. He chuckled as he defeated his opponent for the third time. "Ha, I told you Joey… I won again at Mario Party."
"Just wait and see, Mokuba. You have not seen the last of Joey Wheeler," he challenged the younger Kaiba again and Téa could not help rolling her eyes. She still did not understand why she was at the Kaiba mansion playing video games with two kids. Yes, Joey acted like a child at times, but she adored her friend. She only tagged along because he begged her to come to visit Mokuba for a bit. Well, that visit turned into six hours and it was getting late.
The door of the front entrance opened, and it was revealed to be Seto Kaiba. He did not look too pleased. Too many incompetent people at work and had to take care of properly getting the new hires correctly trained. So, he was unable to have much free time and it was mostly impossible because running a company was not easy.
"Mokuba, I'm home!" he said in an exhausted tone and his dark eyelids were noticeable to the nearest person. Once he heard footsteps coming his way, he set his briefcase on the dining table before turning around and being met with azure eyes. He had to blink twice to see if his eyesight was not deceiving him. "Gardner, what are you doing here?"
Téa crossed her arms but answered his question. "Blame Joey and Mokuba. They've been playing video games for hours and its past midnight. I've been telling Joey it's time to leave but every time those two play more games." The brunette was starting to feel exhausted, so she sat in one of the chairs available in the dining table. "But Kaiba, is this the usual time you get home from work? You must be ready to hit the sack."
Kaiba prepared himself some coffee and did not seem too pleased with the Geek Squad – well part of the group – still being in his house. "Technically yes but that doesn't concern you, Gardner. As you know I have a company to run. It's not going to run on its own. And I do not need sleep, I have work to do."
"I was only asking a simple question, you jerk. Also, you may run a company but that doesn't mean you have to be careless of your body. It needs rest you know because without it, you wouldn't be able to function," she said, trying to make him realize that it was not healthy to ignore rest and sleep.
"I don't need your advice, Gardner. I know how to perfectly take care of myself." Kaiba was not going to let someone tell him what to do. This was nothing new to him and for certain, no one was going to change it.
"Suit yourself, Kaiba," she said, thinking it would be a great idea to check on Joey. It was late and she was beginning to feel sleepy.
"You better not fall asleep on my dining table, Gardner. Don't want a geek infestation going around my house."
"As if I would like to sleep here. I would rather sleep outside," she stated but sighed because she was not in the mood to argue with Kaiba. "You know Kaiba, you can be a pain the ass at times. I can't believe I'm saying this but lighten up, life is not to be taken too seriously. You're still a teenager, not an old geezer. C'mon, I could even teach you how to dance. There's this new dance club that opened about a week ago. It wouldn't be so bad to invest yourself in a hobby."
Kaiba had a perplexed look on his face and let out a laugh. "Gardner, are you asking me out on a date?" he asked, waiting for her answer.
Her cheeks reddened instantly and turned her face somewhere else that wouldn't meet his eyes. "What? I was just suggesting."
"It didn't seem that way to me, but whatever."
"Think what you please, Kaiba. I was only being nice to you but of course you ruin it with your smart responses," she crossed her arms, standing from her spot so she could go grab Joey and leave.
Kaiba thought for a moment and smirked at her response. "Fine, I will pick you up at 7pm tomorrow night. No later than that, I have work to do," he said, leaving the girl astounded with nothing to say in return.
Unbeknownst to them, a figure had heard the conversation, and he was pleased that his plan had worked. Noticing Kaiba heading out of the kitchen, he decided to head to the front of the house to wait for Téa. As much as he didn't like Kaiba, he was willing to help out Téa with her obvious crush. But if the billionaire made his friend cry, he made a vow to beat him into a pulp and did not care if he got suspended from school. "Richboy about to have a girlfriend, hehehe."
She headed towards the entrance of the Kaiba mansion. If she had to leave Joey, that is what she was going to do. Téa did not know how to feel but she immediately noticed the stupid grin on Joey's face while he stood by the entrance. "You're welcome and please tell moneybags he also owes me a thank you as well," he winked at his friend leaving her more embarrassed.

*"Slow Dancing" by V(from BTS)
And that's a wrap. I hope it's to your liking. One-shot was inspired by the song "Slow Dancing". Maybe I will write more Azureshipping one-shots in the near future.
