Anastasia pushed herself away from the vanity where she had been sat, putting the last touches of her appearance together.
She was slightly frustrated. She and Will were meant to have a quiet evening for just the two of them. Will said he had plans, which knowing him meant they were likely to go out into the forest where they had lived all those years ago and the two of them would stargaze. It was always perfect when they did that. It always made her feel like there weren't years between them wasted.
But she was called into a last minute meeting about something. Not even her and Will. Just her. She couldn't say no. She was needed. She was not looking forward to having to tell Will that their quiet evening was going to be delayed. She wanted, no, needed some time with just the two of them. She needed some time to allow them to just be husband and wife.
She sighed heavily and stood up.
"That didn't sound like a I'm-so-happy-to-be-spending-time-with-my-amazing-handsome-husband sound."
Anastasia jumped a little at the sound of Will's voice.
"You scared me!" she huffed with a bit of a laugh.
"Sorry, love," Will replied, grinning a little, "Something wrong?"
"I have a meeting," she admitted, rubbing her forehead a little in frustration. "I am so sorry. I know you had an evening planned for us but I promise I'll try and keep it short so hopefully I'll be back here before you know it."
"That's alright, Ana," Will reassured. "I'll wait."
Anastasia smiled at him, warmth spreading through her chest at those words that she knew would always stand true. He would wait for her, no matter how long.
