I don't own Codename: Kids Next Door. I'm just some girl who happens to really like it.

Curled up on her bed, Numbuh Three huffed as she squeezed a stuffed animal close to her chest. It was so perfect! They were alone together, just the two of them. It was sunset and he was looking into her eyes, and she was certain he was about to say it.

But he didn't. Again.

Instead, he said something dumb that made her mad and they got in an argument that ended with them locking themselves in their rooms.

Sighing, Kuki lay the toy she was holding down and rolled onto her stomach. She wasn't even that mad about the fight anymore. That was easy to get over (Numbuh Four still had to say he was sorry for acting like a meanie, though.) What wasn't easy to get over?

Another missed opportunity for a confession- for Wally to tell her he liked her. And for her to say it back!

She knew how he felt, because despite what the rumors might suggest, Numbuh Three wasn't dumb. Maybe a bit daydreamy, and a little (okay, maybe a lot) easily distracted. But not dumb, and certainly not too dumb to tell that he liked her. He was so obvious!

And so every time he tried to tell her (well, almost every time. But that was more about timing than anything, honest!), when the mood was just right, she was expecting it- and she never got it. Something always happened. Sometimes they got interrupted, sometimes he lost his nerve, and sometimes she would turn out to have read the situation wrong entirely despite all signs (the time, the place, the way he was holding her hands and looking into her eyes…) pointing to a confession. It wasn't fair. It just wasn't! And that's what made her mad, more than anything.

But she kept on waiting, waiting for that perfect moment to go totally uninterrupted. She'd just look on the bright side, hopeless romantic that she was, and cross her fingers so that next time, just maybe, she'd get her confession. She perked up at the thought, and moved so that she was balancing her arms on her elbows, placing her chin in her palms and swinging her legs back and forth. Really, how long could it possibly take him, anyways?

3/4's dynamic gets much more interesting once you realize Kuki is totally aware Wally likes her and is waiting for him to tell her, meanwhile wally has no clue she likes him back and probably wouldn't tell her unless he was on his death bed (or afraid that she liked someone else lmao). Kuki's more observant than people credit her for, but her optimism tends to skew her vision. Anyways, she needs to be the one to confess to him and I'll die on that hill.
