Charles's eyes slowly opened as the sun hit his face.
'Today's the day' He thought. The Zorua stretched on his back, yawning loudly.
"Henry… Wake up" He nudged the Cyndaquil, waking him up. "Huh? What's happening, Charles?"
Charles stretched to make sure he was awake enough. "Don't you remember? We are making a rescue team today!" Henry got up, stretching as well. "Oh yeah! Let's go!" Charles sighed "Aren't you forgetting something?" With comedic timing, Henry's stomach growled. "Oh right… Breakfast"
After breakfast, they quickly rushed over into the forest. "VOIDY! VOIIDDYYYY!"
"OW, not so loud, Charles!" Cyndaquil was quite annoyed. "Sorry…"
"Yeah! Not so loud, Charles." A voice said mockingly. "V- voidy…?" Henry said he was slightly scared.
"Yeah, yeah calm down, Henry." A gengar appeared behind the duo. "So, I take it you two want me to help you with something?" Charles looked down at his paws.
"Well, not exactly." Henry looked at Charles and nodded encouragingly. "Well, since we hang out a lot, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to join our rescue team." Voidy looked surprised; they took a second to think about it.
"Sure, why not?"
"Really?!" Charles's tail was wagging so fast. "Sure, you guys are kind of cool."
"Whatever works!" Henry optimistically said it with excitement.
They all traveled to the post office, where they could all sign up.
"I'm so excited to make a team! Especially with my two favorite Pokemon in the world!"
"Really? We're your favorite people."Voidy pointed out how they were both the most untrustworthy Pokemon. "Yeah!" Henry blushed. "You guys are cool; I feel safe around you guys."
Voidy and Charles shared a look of disbelief.
"Are you gu-" "nope"
"are you suuurreee?" Charles blushed at the thought.
"Hey, look, we're here!"
"Oh, my ears." Voidy covered their ears.
"Let's go!"
They followed Charles into the post office.
"Hello! What'cha looking for?"
"Hey, we're here to make a rescue team." Charles said
"Alright, let me get the paperwork for you all; I'll be back in a jiffy!"
"Ok!"
-I Hour Later-
"Finally done!" Charles exclaimed.
"Actually, we need your team name; then we will be done."
"Hmmm… What about team saves?"
Charles and Voidy looked at each other.
'We probably shouldn't let Henry name things anymore' Charles thought
"What about team meanies?" Voidy said
"And let people think we're mean?" Charles quickly replied back.
"Let's see you think of a better name." Voidy said he was annoyed.
"Uhh… Sinkers?" Charles said, unsure of himself.
"Are you sure we can't use saves? Or, ooh, what about Saviors?"
"Uhhh, I don't know. Henry, I kind of like sinkers." Charles said
"I don't know; doesn't that seem a bit pessimistic? What do you think, Voidy?"
"I like it." Voidy said while nodding.
"Guess I'm outvoted then."
"Haha! Yeah!" Charles said it excitedly.
Just then, a loud voice yelled
"OOOOH! I can't wait!"
'Crap, I recognize that voice' Charles quietly hid behind Voidy and Henry, so that anyone entering could only see his two friends.
"AH! ..." Henry and Voidy yelled out of surprise.
"Ooh, hey, Dewie!" Henry said, looking at the Oshawott, and then looked to his right, seeing a squirtle he didn't recognize, "a new guy." Dewie was quick to return the greeting.
"Hey, Henry," the oshawott looked at the gengar next to Henry, "and a new person. We are registering a new team today!"
Henry was excited to hear this: "Oh, haha! What a coincidence that we three are also forming a team!"
Charles knew his cover was blown and quickly thought of a new plan. He hastily transformed into a Charmander as he overheard Voidy trying to cover up Henry's mistake.
Voidy had lightly smacked the back of Henry's head. "*cough* two of us."
Henry immediately realized his mistake and backtracked. "Oh yeah, I mean, tw." Charles cut him off after finishing his transformation. "Naw, it's fine," Charles pushed past the two. Dewie chimed in, "Oh, it's you, uhh." Dewie was failing to remember his name. Charles was quick to reply.
"Uhh, Surge? How do you not remember this?" Charles lied through his teeth.
"I… I don't know. It's something with your eyes. Their weird…" Dewie replied solemnly.
'W-was that him trying to flirt?' Charles was surprised. Suddenly, Charles could feel heat coming from Henry's back. But in the nick of time, the worker intervened.
"Alright, you three, your team has been created; your gear will arrive in the next few days."
'Finally, let's get out of here'. Charles thought.
"Thanks," Charles squeaked out while rushing away.
"Thanks!" Henry said, immediately forgetting his anger.
"Cool," Voidy said while following Charles out.
The walk home was silent. Charles was annoyed. Why did they have to make a day today? That stupid human, ugh.' They soon made it to their house.
"I'm out. Heading back to the forest to chill for a bit. See ya" Voidy quickly disappeared into the shadows.
"Bye!" Henry said it happily.
They both entered their house.
Charles jumped onto their shared bed, saying
"Of course, they had to make a team the same day we did. Ughh."
"Are you good in there, Charles?" Henry worriedly asked
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired, eh? I didn't expect them to be there; we probably looked hella suspicious." Charles admitted this while transforming back into a Zorua, quickly tiring himself out from transforming on such short notice.
"Well, look at the bright side! We now know it doesn't take much to fool them after your transformation wasn't even perfect. But they bought it." Henry chimed in.
"Heh yeah. Thanks, Henry; you always know how to cheer me up." Charles blushed.
Henry silently laid down next to Charles.
"I'm tired, Henry, so I'm going to try to sleep."
"It's midday! Are you going to try to sleep now?"
"Why not?"
"Alright, well then. Good night."
"Heh… Good night, Henry," Charles said, slowly dozing off.
