I'm pretty new to SI-OC inserts, but I'm stoked to share this with you all. I've already dropped it on Wattpad, but I wanted to bring it here too. So, let's dive in and enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from TVD and TO; I only possess my original character and the story concept. By the way, I utilized an AI, ChatGPT, to assist with my grammar and editing, as I don't have a beta reader. With that said, let's dive into the story!
Why doesn't life ever seem to play by my rules? Despite my relentless efforts, success continues to elude me.
College graduation? Sure, it's a starting point, but don't expect a red carpet into the dream career you envisioned. Instead, I found myself in a classroom, teaching. And let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster ride of stress and decibels. Those kids, well, they had an uncanny knack for deciding when to play by my rules, and more often than not, it wasn't in my favor.
My first year of teaching felt like a wild expedition through a jungle filled with pint-sized adventurers. But hey, I thought, I was still learning the art of wrangling children, right?
What I didn't anticipate was the shocking outcome when I simply asked for a day off. The principal's response? I got replaced! Talk about a curveball. So there I was, back on the job hunt treadmill.
Finally, I landed a gig I genuinely enjoyed. I was a tutor at a learning center. It was a breath of fresh air, a paradise with fewer stressors and only a handful of kids to guide. My relief was short-lived though, because my own mother, with her well-intentioned but misguided advice, convinced me to go AWOL. A job I loved, squashed.
As I sat there, wrestling with a feeling of being trapped in a never-ending cycle, I couldn't help but question my choices and wonder if life would ever align with my aspirations. Every step forward seemed followed by two steps back. I needed a breakthrough, a way to escape the recurring pattern and find a path that resonated with my deepest desires and ambitions.
I spent days engrossed in the world of manga and fanfics, particularly those centered around themes of reincarnation and transmigration. Just pondering these genres led me to wonder, "What if such a thing were possible for me? Would my life take a turn for the better? Would I make wiser choices?" These questions swirled in my mind, even though I knew they were nothing more than fanciful dreams. Isekai, reincarnation, transmigration, and time-travel—all of them were realms of pure fantasy, albeit ones I longed to experience.
With the completion of each manga and fanfic, I was reminded that these genres were forever beyond my grasp. The most recent fanfic I read was particularly intriguing, set in the world of "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD). It was a self-insert OC story, where the OC attempted to steer the plot in a more favorable direction. However, the human doppelganger, Elena Gilbert, kept throwing a wrench into the works, resulting in numerous casualties. The Salvatore brothers were unwittingly complicit in these deaths, their judgment clouded by Elena's perceived innocence. It was frustrating; she seemed like a reincarnation of Katherine Pierce, and yet, they couldn't see it for themselves.
It's quite frustrating to witness the Salvatore brothers repeatedly make avoidable mistakes, all due to their unwavering determination to save Elena. The irony is that their efforts to rescue her often led to the loss of many innocent lives. It's as if their blind devotion to Elena clouded their judgment and prevented them from seeing the bigger picture.
As for Bonnie, her remarkable selflessness deserves admiration, but it's truly disheartening to witness her consistent exploitation and lack of appreciation from both Elena and the Salvatores. She's made countless sacrifices for Elena's well-being, yet Elena seldom seems to express her gratitude. In Bonnie's position, I might contemplate putting my magical talents to personal use and perhaps offering assistance to others in exchange for compensation. In this world, very little comes without a cost, and Bonnie, after all she's given, certainly deserves acknowledgment and recompense for her sacrifices. The motto "Nothing is free in this world, so they better pay for it" would be a fitting creed for Bonnie, underscoring the value of her abilities and the sacrifices she's made.
The Mikaelsons, particularly Klaus, are often underestimated and misunderstood. Klaus's actions are rooted in his desire for freedom, protection, safety, and love, just like any other individual. However, the constant betrayals he experiences have fueled his paranoia, which, in turn, has led to some of his more questionable decisions.
Klaus has, at times, resorted to daggering his siblings out of fear for their well-being. For instance, he daggered Finn to prevent him from ending his own life, Kol to keep unwanted attention at bay, Rebekah to ensure her safety, and Elijah to prevent interference in his plans.
While Klaus's methods may be unconventional and unpopular, he believes that they are the only means to protect his family and achieve his goals. His deep-seated lack of trust in others drives him to take matters into his own hands, often leading to morally ambiguous choices and strained relationships.
The Mikaelsons, as a family, have faced countless trials and tribulations. Their actions, while controversial, are often motivated by their profound fears and desires, making them complex and multi-dimensional characters within the "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries" universes.
Let's dive into the world of the Salvatores from my perspective. I've always had a soft spot for Damon Salvatore; he's the character I resonate with the most in "The Vampire Diaries." What irks me, though, is Elena's persistent quest to change him. I can't help but feel that Damon doesn't need any alteration. He's fine just as he is, and it's high time everyone recognized that.
Damon's actions, time and time again, have demonstrated his unwavering devotion to Elena. He's gone to great lengths and made significant sacrifices for her, which makes it all the more frustrating when she consistently undermines him. What's worse, she often makes him feel inferior in comparison to Stefan, his seemingly morally upright brother. And, let's be honest, Stefan can be quite the hypocrite, projecting an air of sanctity that doesn't always align with his actions.
What truly stands out for me is Damon's unapologetic authenticity. He doesn't pretend to be anything other than what he is, and that level of self-awareness is something I deeply admire. In a world filled with deception, especially in the vampire realm, Damon's straightforwardness is refreshing.
However, I can't say I'm a fan of his often very suspicious and paranoid nature. But, to be fair, it's completely understandable. His centuries of life have been marked by betrayals and challenges, which have inevitably made him vigilant and cautious. It's a quality I could do without, but I appreciate that it stems from a long and tumultuous history. Damon's complexity and the intricate relationships among the Salvatore brothers add depth and richness to the story, making "The Vampire Diaries" all the more captivating.
The fanfic as a whole is quite engaging and well-written. However, there's one particular aspect that I find somewhat bothersome: the portrayal of the original character (OC) as excessively nosy. This nosiness tends to arouse suspicion among the other characters in the story.
I can't help but wish the author had taken a different approach with the OC's personality, perhaps toning down the nosiness or providing a clearer rationale for this behavior. Nonetheless, it's important to acknowledge that fanfiction is a creative outlet where various authors offer their own unique interpretations of the source material. In this case, the author has woven a distinctive perspective into the TVD universe, and, as you rightly mentioned, different authors bring forth diverse stories with their own "what if" scenarios.
So, while this particular aspect may not align with my preferences, it's part of what makes fanfiction an intriguing realm of creativity, where various interpretations and creative ideas are explored and shared.
Time for a quick break from my TVD daydreams; Mom just dropped an order for me to fetch something for her. As much as I love diving into the world of "The Vampire Diaries" and its "what if" stories, real-life responsibilities beckon.
But, you know, there's always that little thrill in imagining how fantastic it would be if something extraordinary, like getting reborn into a different life or universe, could actually happen. For now, though, it's time to embrace reality and get that errand done for Mom. Who knows, maybe a little adventure awaits in the real world too!

That's it for this chapter. I'll immediately upload the 2nd one. Anyway, R&R please.
