Morgan and Reid got about ten feet into the building, talking about the next steps they were going to have to take on this case, when Morgan suddenly throughout his hand, blocking Reid from moving any further.

"Hey!" Reid complained but Morgan shook his head, silencing him.

He looked around, careful to take everything in, wondering what had made the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He didn't even look all around before he realised what was wrong.

"Reid?"

"Yes?"

"Reid?"

"I said yes," Reid said in exasperation.

But Morgan didn't snap back Morgan didn't have it in him to do anything back right now because he was too busy staring all around then with a look in complete disbelief on his face.

Reid frowned at him, wondering what had suddenly got into him.

"Morgan?"

Morgan couldn't believe that Reid could be quite that oblivious. Really? He shook his head.

"What's wrong?" Reid asked, panic starting to colour his tone.

All Morgan could do was point right ahead. Another frown from Reid but he followed the direction. And didn't see what Morgan was getting so worked up about. He shook his head which just earned him an impatient noise.

"What do you see?" Morgan finally asked in exasperation, having managed to regain his voice.

"I don't see anything," Reid said irritably, "there's nothing of concern going on at all, Morgan. In fact, there's no one her- oh."

Morgan gave this tight-lipped sort of smile when realisation suddenly came over him. He couldn't even bring himself to chuckle even a little bit when Reid looked around them in a panic. Even if it did look ridiculous. With any luck it would be more appropriate to bring it up later. Which he would. Mainly because he was also currently panicking and had no time to even think about doing anything else.

"But how?"

"I don't know."

"But, but, how? I don't understand."

"And you think I do?" Morgan snapped

Reid didn't even respond to that, completely taken in by their surroundings.

"I don't understand," he repeated faintly like he hadn't even heard Morgan.

"Got any idea on how we're supposed to explain this?" Morgan asked, still looking around.

He couldn't take his eyes away. He just couldn't. It was like of he did then everything was going to change with what he had originally seen being a figment of his imagination.

Which, of course, couldn't and wouldn't happen but everything that had already gone on today was definitely not normal so he wasn't about to risk anything.

Reid shook his head. How did you even start to explain something like this?"

"Wait, what?" spluttered Rossi.

Yep, that seemed to be the normal response to the news Morgan and Reid had to deliver. They just came straight out and said it because, really, there was nothing else that they could do.

"Explain?" Hitch demanded, making both men flinch.

How on earth were they supposed to explain this? It had no reasonable explanation. Yet, anyway. Garcia would probably be able to find something. But them? They hadn't been able to figure anything out. It was completely baffling. They looked at each other helplessly, neither of them wanting to tell their boss that they had no idea. Even Reid was completely stumped and at a loss for words. The whole situation was basically impossible. Well, obviously not impossible because it happened but it shouldn't have happened! It shouldn't have logically been able to happen. But this whole situation defied all logic.

"Morgan! Spence!" Said JJ, waving her hand in front of their faces in an attempt to get their attention.

Once she got it, she jerked her head towards an increasingly irate Hotch. They both gulped. Even though this wasn't their fault. Even a little bit. They were just as confused and annoyed as everyone else! Though, confusion was definitely more apparent at the moment. Panic would probably take over later when it sunk in what this meant for their case.

Reid gulped and linked his lips compulsively. He was going to need Chapstick at the end of this. A lot of it. Morgan rubbed the back of his head. All nervous habits.

"Now."

That was all it took for them both to start talking at once. Together and over each other. And normally the team as a whole was quite capable of deciphering things like this - they talked over each other all the time after all - but even this was a bit beyond them. Emily was the quickest to give up trying to make sense of them and sniggered in the background at how ridiculous they sounded. Hotch just glared at everyone but even that didn't get them to shut up. Until he cleared his throat and then the silence came immediately.

Hotch pinched the bridge of his nose, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened them again, he pointed at Morgan. The one least likely to ramble on. Which was the last thing they needed right now.

The man in question gulped but steeled himself, his mind going a mile a minute while trying to figure out if there was a way to put a good spin on the information he was to deliver. He started off by repeating what he and Reid had announced when they had returned to the precinct with incredibly confused looks in their faces.

"The hospital. It's empty."

JJ and Rossi's jaws dropped, not having been in when he and Reid had first come in. Emily shook her head in disbelief and Reid was looking miserable as he frowned, trying to make sense of it all. There had to be some logical explanation for this. How did you even completely empty a hospital without someone seeing something? And then there was Hotch. He had a very grim look on his face that no one liked to see.

"Then he was here," he announced, sending a chill down all of their spines.

He had been here.
