This story takes places after the last episode of RtB, so it happens around the spring of 1946.

I am going to keep it as close to the cannon as possible and it is going to be as serious as the movie, nothing "edgier" than that. All the witches have faced many problems, and I am going to try address how they have overcome them or at least tried to. This story would be about Yoshika but all the 501st are going to have their moments. I also going to make some references to "One-winged witches" "The sky that connect us" "Himeroku Drama Albums".

Chapter 1: The aftermath

Berlin had finally been liberated and while there are still neuroi hives in South Karlsland and in Ostmark, it would take some time for the higherups to organize the different armies and Joint Fighter Wings to take down the hives so the war against the neuroi could finally end.

Sadly, Berlin was in ruins, the infrastructure was severely damaged, there was no electricity, the streets were empty, and the buildings were dark and silent but there was still hope that someday, Berlin would thrive once again, and this would be just a dark chapter in its history that took countless lives but helped to unite everyone around the world to overcome it.

Nevertheless, the destruction of a hive was quite an event therefore, it was only natural that a festival would be held in Berlin to celebrate this grand event, its liberation from Neuroi occupation and it would also help to raise the morale of the general population that could finally came back to their homeland after being banished forcedly for many years. An event of this importance required the assistance of several members of the high command from different countries as well as the wing commanders from all the Joint Fighter wings that helped to achieve the liberation of Berlin.

The logistics of the event were challenging but there was hope that it could be still held without any major issue, and as soon as the ceremony started, the skies of Berlin were covered in what seemed like shooting stars of different colors blazing through the starry night, but they were not, they were the Luminous Witches and with their songs they opened the event. Everyone was in awe as the Witches' trails formed Karlsland's flag and it filled the skies with hope and for a moment it seemed that Berlin was celebrating its Independence Day not its recent liberation.

The ceremony was being broadcasted to the whole world thus everyone could know that humanity was taking back bit by bit what once belonged to them and to show that there was still hope that someday the war against the Neuroi would finally come to an end. At the sky, the songs could also be heard by different night Witches that were on patrol on that night. The luminous Witches had been steadily improving their performance since their beginnings back before even Ghalia was liberated. Moreover, they had also performed after the liberation of Petersburg and Romagna though the former was not occupied per se, nevertheless it was only natural that their performance was a mesmerizing spectacle for everyone who was at the event.

As the ceremony continued, several Wing Commanders of the Joint Fighter Wings that participated as well as High Commanders gave speeches, some were longer, some were shorter, some were boring and some were inspiring, and then it was finally the turn of one of the Karslandian Wing Commander, Mina Dietlinde.

Her speech was briefer yet even more heartwarming in comparison to the other ones. Yet, she thanked everyone who made it possible to finally liberate her homeland (or at least part of it) and she paid respects to every one of the who did not survive the war. But just before she finalized her discourse, she praised the bravery of Pilot Officer Miyafuji Yoshika who stopped the Neuroi bomber from destroying Kiel delaying even furthermore the operation Southwind and stopping the enemy target wolf from fleeing when Germania was destroyed at the zenith of the operation and with that, she finalized her speech. There were applauses, but the conference continued, after all, there were still more people left who still had speeches to give.

Yoshika herself was not at the ceremony at Berlin, though, she was hearing the speech through the radio with the rest of the 501st at the base in Kiel. She could not help it but blush a bit when she heard what Minna just said and it did not help that the rest of the girls teased her and gave her compliments, especially Lynne and Shizuka. Yoshika told them that it was possible because of everyone's help and she could not do it alone. That something they all agreed on because there was no way they could pull it off without everyone's help, just like always.

While the event was still being held, they all had small yet special dinner where everyone laughed and just had fun after everything that happened since they started to make their way to Berlin. Still, they were sad that neither Major Sakamoto nor commander Minna were with them, but there was nothing they could do as they were required to be at the ceremony by HQ. After they finished having dinner, everyone, surprisingly, helped to clean everything. Some of them started to yawn as they were doing it, no one could blame them though as the past days were exhausting, after they finish cleaning, they all decided to go back to their rooms so they could rest.

Most of them were asleep as soon as they hit the bed though not all of them were alone in their beds. Nevertheless, there was one Witch that could not sleep as her mind was wondering about what would happen to them, to the Joint Fighter Wing. This Witch was Hattori, it was the first time since she joined the 501st that they did not have a pending mission and she could not help it but wonder what would happen to all of them, 'would they go their own ways?', she was not sure but there was something she could do.

She could ask Yoshika what she thought about it but as she got out of her bed to check on Yoshika, she noticed that she was peacefully sleeping. There was no way she could wake her up just to ask her that but still, she contemplated her for a few minutes to see if she woke up, but she did not, she was sleeping profoundly and peacefully though it seemed that she spoke on her sleep as some noises were coming out from her. 'That's new' she thought, Hattori never noticed that before since they had been sleeping together but now there was nothing she could do, so she went back to her bed without getting an answer.

Nevertheless, she still wandered in her thoughts, she was thankful that everyone could make it safely and, not only that, but Yoshika had regained control over her magic pressure. She also thought of several not-as-important matters but before she realized, she also had fall asleep.

The next day had already come, and all the Witches were in the meeting room hearing what commander Minna and Mio had to say, while the 501st JFW was not disbanded like the last two times, there was no need to have them all stationed at Denhalder, therefore, the girls would be able to fulfill other commitments around the whole globe. Minna gave them the somewhat good news that they were going their own ways but only for a few months. Still, not all of them were happy but after discussing it for a bit, they understood that it was only temporary and that settled it.

Minna alongside Squadron Leader Gertrud Barkhorn a.k.a. Trude and Flying Officer Erica Hartmann decided to stay in their homeland, Karlsland in order to continue with the rebuild of the capital and also to go to the café that they agreed to have when they this all was over.

Flying Officer Aleksandra a.k.a. Sanya V. Litvyak and Flying Officer Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen decided to go to Suomus and then to Orussia to gather more information regarding the whereabouts of the former's parents.

Flight Lieutenant Charlotte E. Yeager a.k.a. Shirley and Pilot Officer Francesca Lucchini went to Romagna to visit the former's parents while also helping the 504th JFW a.k.a., the Ardor Witches to defend both Romagna and Venezia. Shirley had planned something else to do in their temporary retirement, but she had not told Francesca yet, hoping to surprise her.

Flight Sergeant Lynette and Flying Officer Perrine went back to Gallia in order to continue with the rebuild efforts of the country.

Pilot Officer Hattori Shizuka was not sure of what to do next, she had not received any assignment from the Fuso Navy but then Major Sakamoto asked her if she wanted to go back to Fuso to help her to train new recruits in order to help to fight the war. At first, she was reluctant to accept, she wanted to stay in Europe, with the rest of the girls but especially with Miyafuji but there was no way she could disappoint the major, therefore, she accepted her request because that was one way, she could help so she agreed to go with her. Minna was also sad to hear that the girls were going to be separated once again, especially Mio but she knew it was only temporarily.

As for Yoshika, she wanted to go back to Fuso to visit her mother, grandmother and her dearest friend Michiko but she knew she had a duty here in Europe, she must go back to Helvetia to study at Lausanne Medical School. She promised them that she would study hard to become a great medic and she intended to keep that promise no matter what.

Moreover, Yoshika still wanted them to know what happened asked since the day Shizuka came with the recommendation letter for the Helvetia medical school and how she had regained her magic back, she had written them several letters of course but she thought it would be better if they both explained what happened personally, therefore she asked both Shizuka and Major Sakamoto to talk with her family and they both agreed to do what Miyafuji asked them to. They both knew her family so it should not be a difficult task, or at least that was they hoped.

Before going back to Fuso, there was something Mio needed to do, she had arranged to send Yoshika's Shinden to the Helvetia Air Force Base so that she could use it in case of an emergency. She also made sure that it was properly serviced not like the last time Yoshika had to use that neglected striker unit that almost got her killed protecting Antwerp. Still, the crewmen had to be trained by Ursula to properly service it as the Shinden's design was a bit different in comparison to the rest of the striker units and with the fact that Helvetia itself was not currently under Neuroi occupation, so the crewmen were unskilled with its maintenance to say the least.

Therefore, with all the witches having something to look forward of being accomplished in the upcoming months, the 501st Joint Fighter Wing also known as the Strike Witches was separated once again, this time just temporally though, waiting for new orders from their respective superiors.

After everything had been properly taken care off, Mio and Hattori went back to Fuso without encountering any major problem on their way to the empire and they went to the Miyafuji clinic to do what Yoshika asked them to, but to their surprise Sayaka and Yoshiko were frightened to say the least, while she briefly wrote them what happened, Yoshika did not explain the great dangers of what she faced since she went to Helvetia.

Mio and Hattori were stunned by the fact that they believed that they knew a bit of what had happened, but they did not know the details and both were not good liars thus, the truth was revealed but not the way they wanted it to happen. Sayaka and Yoshiko were not oblivious to the dangers of war, they had experienced the pain of losing someone dear firsthand and they did not want to lose someone else, someone still so young and innocent, someone that still had all her life waiting for her.

There was nothing Hattori and Mio could do now, at least they assured that Yoshika was just fine nowadays, studying to become a great medic just as she promised them, with her magic better than ever and though they were a bit relieved to hear that, they still wanted to see her but neither Mio nor Hattori knew when Yoshika would be coming back to Fuso, hopefully it would be sooner than later.

This is all for the first chapter, I've never written a fanfic before so I'm sorry if it's not perfect but I did my best, plus English is not my native language so, if something sounds strange, it's not intentional.

I have already written a few more chapters but I'm still editing them.

And finally, I promised you that I am going to complete this story but it's going to take awhile.
