I do not own Top Gun Maverick or any of it's characters but this is a collection of Bob oneshots for if I did!!!!!! Lots of hurt saddies Bob!

Not no one

-5:00am- blinked red letters with a soft tone asking Bob to open his eyes. Sea blue irises blinked away blurry sleep. Time to get up.

Misty yellow sun warmed contrastingly cold ocean air carressed skin. Rich black coffee tickled his nostrils, he loved the smell as the steam teased his freshly shaved face (even if it did fog up his glasses).

His heels echoed across the wide spread gray pavement as he walked toward the class. He was early, the others would surely show up in minute or two and Maverick always seemed to appear just as the last Dagger shuffled in.

The seats were all empty as he found his own and fiddled with his notebook and pencil, looking over yesterdays notes.

"What did you forget your calculator Bobbo?", teased Hangman as he sauntered in cockily.

Bob looked up deciding wether to bite back or laugh it off.

"Oh shut up bag man, you could use a little note taking yourself.", defended Phoenix as she sat down next to her favorite back seater. Bob looked down and smiled.

"Yeah right.", said Hangman as he found his seat.

"Gooood mmoorrninggg Daggerrrrsss!", said an energetic Rooster as he walked in with a skip.

"Now I know why they call you Rooster.", said Coyote rubbing his tired eyes.

"Rooster has always made sure we're awake and alert for the day. Like any good cock would.", said Payback as laughter rolled through the detachment. Rooster gave him a smile of annoyance letting a chuckle escape.

"Alright alright settle down.", began Maverick as he walked down the middle aisle with a toothy grin on his face.

That lesson was the one that took a turn. As they went over yesteredays flight training and what went wrong, what to tell families at the funeral. What would they tell them? The possibility never seemed so real until now.

Without needing to plan it they all headed for the hard deck. Penny tended bar as they sat crowded around the pool table. Only Fanboy hit a few balls with no real goal. Even Hangman and Rooster were in their thoughts. Bob leaned against the Jukebox as he sat on a stool with Phoenix standing next to him. Coyote and Payback passed around the beers.

"I don't know if I'd be able to face a family. I know it's our duty but, jeez what are you supposed to say?", said Fanboy.

Roosters thoughts went to Phoenix and Bob being somehow the most vulnerable in his eyes. But they were the best, he just couldn't help his instincts. He'd learned everything he could about the whole team feeling responsible for them, Bob being the only one no one knew much about. He'd known Phoenix for a few years, she had a dad in the Marines and two older civilian sisters. But Bob, well he had no idea.

"You got a military family Bob?", asked Rooster choosing curiosity over other insticts.

Bob looked up surprised finding all eyes trained on his position.

"Yeah baby on board. Where does our resident southern boy come from?", said Hangman with a taunting tone.

Bob looked from them to the floor. What was he supposed to say?! Nothing came to mind. He threw up his hands and shook his head looking back up at them.

"What does that mean?", asked Phoenix looking at him as she popped her beer lid off the corner of the table with a smirk.

"He doesn't wanna tell us. What is your pop a big admiral or something?", said a pestering Hangman, why couldn't he just shut up.

Phoenix felt her eyebrows crease as she found a foreign look in his eyes.

The sounds of other people in the bar and clinking of pints might as well have been dead slience as they awaited an answer.

Bob shrugged his shoulders. "Don't have any.", he said simply with his country tint coating each word. His fingers played with the condensation on the neck of his beer.

Phoenix's heart dropped, Rooster and Hangman surprisingly looked at each other with their leader positions making them feel a shared turmoil. Hangman especially dropped his shoulders in regret of his torturous words. The silence continued now but it was different. Guilt sat uncomfortably in the atmosphere, along with curiosity of course.

"No one at all?", blurted Payback.

Bob shook his head.

"Well not no one there Bob.", said Hangman with a grin that this time was genuine.

"We love you Bob!", said Phoenix with an over dramatic kiss on his head as Rooster ruffled his hair and the gang teased and roared lovingly. Bob smirked and laughed playfully swatting them away. Rooster went to the piano with a happy song in mind. There was something about someone having never been loved, and knowing you had more than enough to give them. And thanks to some guy with his phone on the bar Penny's favorite bell rung through their ears and the people cheered wildly. A round was the cherry on top to ease their troubled minds.

Later through some Phoenix investigation it was revealed that Bob's parents were cruddy nobodies. Growing up in a poor city in southern Texas his dad raised him in a trailer after his mom died. Shortly after he left for the Navy his dad died too. He didn't seem to recall them fondly Natasha told the squad. Imagining every ceremony or graduation and not seeing family in the crowd smiling with pride for you was shudderingly sad. Only Rooster had a taste of what that felt like, though Maverick watched over him and he had so many friends and extended family. It was obvious Bob wasn't the type to attract swarms of friends purely because of his often shy behavior and what some might call dweeb-leaning appearance. But he was so much more than that. He was among the best of the best, so threateningly good at what he did. And a rare look deeply set in his eyes silently intrigued all of them. It felt like a secret or something innocent he kept hidden. Something he knew that they didn't. Or maybe it was a glimmer of excitement in the ongoing anticipation for the thrill of flying. Maybe it was weirdly hope or wonder. Whichever was less cheesy and made them less jealous to have.

For most of them the Navy was like their secondary family, for Bob it would be his only family. It was a burden for them to realize they were all he had. But maybe it was a nice kind of burden.

A/N: eeehhhh! I loved this, pls review I need your thoughts. Sorry if I get anything wrong!
