AN: The fanfic is set in a world where All Might actually kills All For One in Kamino, so things don't get too bad later on (looking at you, Paranormal Liberation War Arc), but they still moved into the dorms after the Kamino Raid.
Izuku Midoriya stared down at his almost empty bottle of beer, trying to push away his anxiety about the final exams, which were slowly but surely coming closer and closer.
Two months sounded like a lot of time. But once you thought more about it, 2 months were only a bit more than 8 weeks. Or 61 days. 61 days to perfect another special move. 61 days to learn everything he needed to pass the final exams of his third and final year in U.A..
One of those 8 weeks would be another internship, so hardly any time to learn. And he would need some days to rest. Hopefully some time to simply hang out with the others from class 3-A. Visiting his mother. Attending events at U.A.. Classes.
And just like that, very little of those 61 days was left for studying and training.
And, of course, he couldn't forget about all the time he spent thinking about Ochako Uraraka, his best friend, whom he also had a crush on.
He was trying to work up the courage to confess to her, only to have someone interrupt them just when he was about to do it every time. It had happened to him so many times by now, he actually felt like it had to be on purpose.
Either that, or he was simply cursed.
Izuku finished the beer and turned to Denki Kaminari, the only other person left at the bar. The other guys had left during the last 30 or so minutes.
"You're leaving now too, right?"
"Yeah, it's about time for me to go and pick up Kyoka."
Deku took another look at the empty bottle. This must have been his third beer. Though he wasn't too drunk (he could still walk in a straight line), it would probably be best if he just went straight home without any detours. If he tried to use Full Cowl right now, he'd probably just run into a wall.
A minute later, the two of them exited the bar and said goodbye to each other.
While Denki's footsteps faded into the distance, Deku simply stood there, staring at the night sky.
The first time he had tried to confess to Ochako had been towards the end of their first year.
It had taken him a bit to figure out his feelings for her, and then a little bit more time to muster the courage to actually tell her.
Their class had been on the way back to their dorms close to the curfew after an evening out to party, when he managed to get her to lag behind a bit before reaching the dorms.
The two of them had spent the entire evening talking, joking and laughing together, giving him the confidence he needed.
But just when he was about to open his mouth, Hound Dog jumped out of the woods, screaming about the curfew and ordering them to get to their dorms immediatly.
Hound Dog continued his patrol just a few seconds after appearing, leaving them alone again, but the good mood had been destroyed. And with it, all of Deku's confidence.
Lost in his thoughts, he started wandering in a random direction, not even realizing that he was going in the same direction as Denki.
One of those thoughts was that this must have been almost exactly two years ago.
The occasion had been the same as today: the last party, before they had to start taking studying seriously. Only this time, the boys and girls had split up and headed to different locations. Kaminari and Kirishima had wanted a boys night and no one had had any real objections. And while he would have liked to spend the night with Ochako, potentially even finding an opportunity this time around to tell her, that alone hadn't been enough for him to upset their plans.
At some point he had stopped counting his interrupted attempts, but another one that stood out to him was in their second year. It had been during the celebration for the one-year anniversary of All Might's defeat of All For One and his retirement. Looking back at it, the Hero Public Safety Commission had probably organized it to make the situation look better than it actually had been and give the public some more confidence in the heroes. Because, even one year later, villains were still quite numerous and confident in their chances of getting away with it, as the name All Might could no longer fill the role as the Symbol of Peace.
And try as he might, Endeavor, the new No.1 Hero, wasn't able to fill those shoes either.
Deku chuckled to himself, remembering how back then he had been so preoccupied by attending an event in honor of his idol that he hadn't even thought about confessing to Ochako for most of the evening. And he had spent a big portion of that evening dancing with her.
He couldn't help but cringe at the memory, because of how Ochako must have felt, regardless of whether she actually returned his feelings or not. Something he still wasn't 100% certain about.
He had spent most of that evening just staring at the All Might-themed decorations. Even when dancing with his best friend, he had paid hardly any attention to her, sometimes even accidentally stepping on her feet. Something he had come to deeply regret. Because, who knows? Maybe if he had been more focused on her, they would have gotten together that evening.
The one moment that kept coming back to him was when, during one of the dances, he almost fell over, being frozen in place by her beauty.
He couldn't even remember why, but he must have said or done something cool or funny, which had gotten the biggest smile ever out of her. And that smile - that goddamn smile - had turned his cute best friend, whom he coincidentally had a crush on, into the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
And it had made him want to see her smile like this for the rest of his life.
Once his brain had begun to work again, there had been only a single thought in his mind: that he wanted to tell her how he felt about her. But just as he had opened his mouth, the music had stoppend and the announcer told everyone to leave the dance floor. His mind came to a complete halt again, not being able to process the back and forth of emotions as that perfect moment had passed. Right then and there, he hadn't been able to do anything other than being swept off the dance floor by the people around him and look around with a dumbfounded expression.
The only thing slightly souring that memory was that he sometimes couldn't stop himself from thinking that she might not have returned his feelings, had he confessed to her at that moment. How she might have given him an apologetic look and told her she only saw him as a friend. He didn't want to imagine a scenario like that. Because he knew, once he started it, he wouldn't be able to stop that train of thought.
Well, to be fair, he still had that fear. But that had been the first time he had actively thought about it. And just that short imaginary scenario had already made him hesitate so many times.
At that moment, something pulled Deku out of his memories. At first, he wasn't sure what it had been. Not his Danger Sense. But after a brief pause, he figured it out: Voices. Familiar ones. If his ears didn't betray him, he heard Yaoyorozu and - could it really be? - Ochako, talking not too far from where he was.
After a moment of hesitation, he pinpointed their direction and took a few more steps, until he saw the two of them standing in front of what appeared to be another bar. His first thought was: 'No way it really is Ochako and the others. That is too convenient.' But then he remembered that he never asked the girls where they would go. And seeing how there were three couples in their class, it seemed logical that they wanted something nearby so they could go home together at the end of the night. But since Todoroki had left a while ago, why was Yaoyorozu still here?
Ah, who cares. What they got up to was none of his business. More importantly, Ochako was here. And for the millionth time, he thought to himself: 'Surely this will be the time I can actually do it. Right?' As he walked over to them, he did his best to not let it show how much the alcohol was affecting him by now. He couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but he most certainly didn't like Yaoyorozu's facial expression. Concern and empathy, mixed with some pity. And it was directed at his best friend. 'Please, no bad news. Not now. I'm too drunk to deal with problems right now.' But once the taller girl spotted him, a smirk replaced her previous expression. Like there was some kind of joke he wasn't privy to. She gestured for the brown-haired girl to turn around. Deku stopped in his tracks for a moment, when he saw how sad she looked. Which also explained Yaoyorozu's concern.
But, by some miracle, the moment Ochako recognized him, that sadness morphed into a look of pure happiness. Like simply seeing him was the best present she had ever received.
It was so unexpected that he turned around to make sure no one else was behind him. And when he had confirmed that it really was about him, he quickly scanned through his brain. Was there something he had forgotten? It wasn't her birthday. They hadn't made any promises to meet tonight. Was there anything else?
Not that he actually had time for any more thoughts. Ochako somehow closed the remaining distance between them so fast, she made Iida's Engine-Quirk look slow. Only to throw herself at him with full force with just a single word as warning:
"Deku!"
She would have knocked him off his feet, had he not reacted fast enough to spin her through the air. All that meele-combat training with Gunhead and other pros had really paid off. It was only with a few moments delay that he relized, they probably looked like a happy couple that hadn't seen each other in a long time. His face quickly lit up in a bright shade of red, although it wasn't quite as bad as it used to be.
In their first year, his face could have served as a traffic light ever ytime Ochako got too close to him. The first few times, even just her talking to him had that effect on him.
But as they had become older and closer to each other, it took more to get him that flustered. Especially because he was actually hoping for, sometimes even seeking out, things like this.
Deku put her back on her feet and responded with a smile of his own:
"Hi, Ochako."
For a few seconds, they just smiled at each other, before being interrupted by a loud "Ahem".
"Ah, hello to you too, Yaoyorozu".
"Good evening, Midoriya. It is quite surprising to see you here. Say, do you happen to know where Shoto went?"
Deku felt the urge to run his hands through his hair, as he wasn't sure how to answer that. But that would mean letting go of Ochako, so he suppressed that urge.
"Hmm, he left the bar about 50 minutes ago, so, no, I don't know where he is."
"Ah, what a shame. I had been waiting for him to pick me up. But it seems like he forgot about it."
After a brief pause she added:
"Could you look after Uraraka while I go and tell Asui and Hagakure we are calling it a night?"
"Uhm, sure. But why does she need someone to look after her?"
This just got a chuckle out of Yaoyorozu and she cryptically replied: "You will see."
Deku watched the tall girl close the door to the bar behind her, before he had another look at his best friend. There really could only be one reason why she would need a babysitter right now:
"Uhm, Ochako, are you drunk?"
But the only response he got from her, was her tightening the embrace around him. 'Shit. We're both drunk. But we're finally alone. And this right now, the way she's hugging me, feels more like couple-stuff, rather than just best friends, right? But we're both drunk, so wouldn't I be taking advantage of her if I did anything now?' Deku's mind ran on overdrive, but at least he managed to keep his mouth shut, for a change, instead of muttering to himself.
Without noticing, he had tightened the embrace, resting his head on her shoulder. And with every breath he was now inhaling her scent, reminding him of ... strawberry?
He loved it.
But he still didn't know what it was. Probably her shampoo. He couldn't imagine her spending money on perfume. And he would feel kinda weird asking what exactly it was.
'Shit shit shit' Deku thought to himself. Her scent and their close proximity did things to him. He made sure to put a bit of distance between her and his lower body. He wasn't proud of that reaction, but it's not like he could do much about it. And recently that had happened more and more around her. He knew why it happened. But he refused to acknowledge those thoughts. At least, until he knew how she felt about him.
Each breath made the longing he felt for her stronger and stronger, until he discarded every last bit of hesitation.
'Alright,' he thought to himself, 'this time I'll actually do it. I'll finally tell her!'
He raised his head and looked at her, opening his mouth...
... only to hear the other three girls come out of the bar.
His head dropped and he released the breath he had been holding. Of course, it had to be like this. Just another instance, where life told him 'No, you don't.' It was so frustrating, he couldn't figure out whether he wanted to scream, cry or punch given the circumstances, he did neither of those.
Instead, he just looked at the three of them.
"Hi Asui, Hagakure."
"Hi Midoriya"
"Hello Midoriya, Ribbit."
"So you girls are going home now, too?"
Yaoyorozu was the one who answered him:
"Yes. It is getting quite late and although there are no classes or anything tomorrow, we still have things we need to get done."
After a quick look at Ochako, who completely ignored everything going on around her in favor of cuddling with Deku a bit more, she added:
"I take it you will walk Uraraka home? I doubt she would manage it on her own right now."
"Oh, ahm, yeah, I can do that."
It wouldn't be the first time he was over at Ochako's apartment, but if he were completely honest with himself, the thought of walking home a drunk Ochako, while being slightly drunk himself, scared him. And not just because of things like a random villain attack, but more so because it seemed like his inhibition threshold had been lowered too much by the alcohol. Although, him being aware of his inebriation meant that maybe he wasn't too far gone, right? Not that he would tell the other girls those thoughts. Worst case scenario, they compare him to Mineta's level of being a perv and try to keep him away from his best friend in the future. He shuddered at the thought.
The others said their goodbyes, leaving him alone with his crush. A scenario he would usually welcome. But right now, it also scared him to be responsible for his best friend's well-being. He'd have to make her drink water to prevent a hangover. She'd have to brush her teeth before going to bed. If she was wearing make-up, she'd have to remove it. And probably also half a dozen other things.
"Ochako?"
He could hear a faint humming against his chest. Well, at least she was still responsive.
"Can you walk by yourself? Or ... ahm ... do you want me to c-carry you home?"
The brown-haired girl leaned her head back, looking up at him with half-closed eyes. Deku tried not to show how much that scared him. All that energy from just a few minutes ago had completely vanished.
"I can walk" was all she managed to say before her head was against his chest again.
The only thought going through the boy's head was: 'Shit.'
As it turned out, Ochako could walk ... if she actually wanted to. It took Deku a few minutes of patiently waiting and coaxing for her to walk alongside him. Seeing how drunk she was, he was kinda relieved, the other girls had interrupted them before he could say anything. Seems like the alcohol was just another thing working against him in his attempts to confess his feelings, because he felt like he should wait until she was sober again before his next attempt. Her apartment wasn't far from his own, so walking her home and then also getting to his own place shouldn't be that difficult.
But at times like these, he really wished they still lived in the U.A. dorms instead of having to rent their own apartments. At least the school paid the actual rent, because there was no way Izuku could afford one. It might not be a problem for someone like Yaoyorozu or Todoroki, but most of the others didn't have that amount of money in their families either.
His guess was that U.A. intended this to be a preparation for when they graduated, as from that point onward they'd have to live by themselves.
And unless you were a top hero, you probably wouldn't be able to afford any household help. So doing chores like cooking meals, washing clothes or cleaning the apartment would become necessary in addition to their hero work.
Deku sighed a breath of relief as he turned a corner and saw Ochako's apartment door in front of him. His best friend, however, didn't show any reaction to their goal being right in front of them. Well, to be fair, she hadn't done anything other than blindly following him for the last 20 minutes or so.
Which evoked quite a few emotions in him.
Concern, as to whether everything was okay with her.
Relief, because nothing bad had happened on their way.
But also happiness that she blindly trusted him like that.
He took the last few stairs while also trying to get Ochako to focus on her surroundings again. She eventually started going through her pockets until she produced a key from one of them. Deku did his best to suppress a laugh, as Ochako kept missing the keyhole time and time again.
Eventually it became too much for him and he started giggling. Something the brown-haired girl didn't like. She shot him an angry look. And when that didn't have any effect, she punched his shoulder. She had put a surprising amount of strength into it, as his shoulder actually hurt. But at least it got him to stop laughing.
His mind still thinking about the funny scene that had just played out, he simply put his hand around hers and helped her guide it. This time they managed to get it into the keyhole first try and with a quick turn of their hands, the door to Ochako's apartment opened.
It was only then that Deku's mind caught up to what he was doing: holding hands with a girl. His face turned bright red and he quickly let go of her hand. Being too flustered to properly talk, all he could manage was some awkward stuttering:
"So, uhm ... we ... you're back at your place. Ah ... do y-you think ... do you think you can manage on your own now?"
Deku was too embarrassed to look at Ochako, which is why he missed the look of sadness on her face. And by the time he had calmed himself enough to look at her again, her expression had changed to a contemplative one.
"No ... I don't think I can."
Deku froze in place. Even though he had asked, he definitely hadn't expected that response. It was supposed to be a question out of courtesy, not an actual invitation to help her. Not because he didn't like her or didn't want to help her. But he just couldn't trust himself anymore around a drunk Ochako. He just didn't know how to act. Was he already crossing any lines with her? Was he being too ... intimate in the way he was holding her? Would she hold it against him once she was sober? Besides, helping her get ready for bed would also mean helping her get changed, right?
He tried his best to stop his mind from thinking about (and even imagining) Ochako taking off her clothes. But he only partially succeeded. To make matters worse, the part about her putting on her sleeping clothes was only an afterthought, proving to him that it really wasn't the best idea to be around her right now.
He was about to say no to her request when he made the mistake of looking her in the eyes.
Those big, brown eyes, begging him for help. And just like that, all his resistance ... gone. There was no way he could turn her down when she looked at him with puppy eyes.
"O-okay, I guess I can help you then."
There was no way this would work out. But it was too late now. Ochako had made the decision for him. And with an apprehensive sigh he followed her into the apartment and closed the door behind them.
Taking off their shoes, brushing teeth, drinking some water to lessen the inevitable hangover and helping her take off the little bit of make-up she had put on wasn't a problem. Well, except for all the physical contact. But that was something Deku had to endure for a bit longer. Just until Ochako was taken care of and he could go home without somehow doing permanent damage to their relationship. Because even if she might not remember due to the alcohol, he definitely would. And he would never be able to forget.
And it's not as simple as 'Just don't do this one thing and you're good'. No. All of his interactions with her right now were one big minefield. She swayed a bit too much and he quickly had to steady her before she fell? 'Oh no, almost put my hand in the wrong position and grabbed her boobs.' She was taking off her clothes to change? 'Quick, turn around before you see her naked.'
Those and other, similar thoughts went through Deku's mind while he helped her get ready to sleep. And just when he thought he had safely maneuvered through the entire thing, he just had to pay a bit too much attention to what she was wearing: one of his t-shirts.
Easily recognizeable by the shirt being a bit too big for her and having the print 'sleeping-shirt' written on it. He had already been wondering where that particular one had gone.
"Ochako, why are you wearing one of my shirts?"
She didn't even hesitate with her answer:
"Because they feel so comfortable."
He wasn't quite sure what to make of that answer, so he carefully continued:
"And, where did you get them from?"
"Well, you remember the few occasions this year you stayed here and slept on the couch? You sometimes ... forgot ... to take the clothes you brought here back home the next day."
That didn't sound quite right to him. He would never simply forget his clothes at her place like that. And the way she was fiddling with one of the sleeves, which were too long for her, told him that she was hiding something.
"Wait. Did ... did you hide my clothes after those sleepovers so you could keep them for yourself?"
Ochako looked to the ground, her voice sounding sleightly defeated when she answered him:
"The first time you really forgot all your clothes. I had nothing to do with it. Then ... twice, I distracted you with something and quickly snatched something from your stuff."
He could hear the worry and sadness in her voice.
"I only took two shirts and a sweater. Please, Deku, don't be mad at me."
She looked at him with those big brown eyes of hers and the shimmering told him that she must be close to tears.
"Ah, don't worry. I'm not mad at you. Just, confused. Why would you take my shirts? They don't even fit you properly?"
Her cheeks became red as she answered:
"Like I said, wearing them just feels ... really comfortable."
He had seen that happen with Ashido wearing Kirishima's stuff as well as Jiro wearing Kaminari's. Was the same thing happening here? This would have been the perfect cue for him to spill the beans. The perfect encouragement to still all the doubts rising in his head every time he wanted to tell her. It was hard, with how cute she looked wearing his oversized shirt, but he stuck to his earlier decision of not saying or doing anything while she was drunk.
Instead, what came out of his mouth was:
"So, uhm ... do you have any plans of giving me them back?"
For a few seconds, Ochako just looked at him with a confused look.
"Uhm, no?"
"W-What? But that's my stuff!"
Her expression changed into a grin and she extended her arms towards him.
"Well, you could have this one."
It took him a moment before he visibly recoiled at the proposition. Was she really telling him to take the t-shirt she was wearing? As in, undressing her, while it was just the two of them standing in front of her bed?
"No!"
The smile spreading on her face told him that he had taken the bait, hook, line, and sinker.
"See, you don't even want them back. So there is no problem if I keep them."
Deku didn't even bother trying to fight her on that one. He knew he had lost that battle. But that didn't mean he had lost the war.
"Well, seeing how I don't have any sleeping clothes here, I guess that means I have to go home now."
"Ah ..."
The smile vanished and Deku could literally see the gears in her brain turning, trying to figure out a proper response. He knew, simply walking out of the door without any explanation wouldn't work. His best friend would just throw herself at him, trying to hold him back, probably making both of them float in the process. And using his quirk to run away wouldn't be better. He'd never hear the end of it.
Or worse, maybe he would. She might feel so hurt by this that she would never forgive him, staining their relationship forever. 'No,' he thought to himself, 'running like that is definitely not an option.'
"Well, there actually are some clothes for you, Deku-kun."
Ochako started fidgeting and looking anywhere but him.
"That first time, when you forgot all your clothes ... they are still in the drawer in the living room where you put them. And you brought more than one shirt."
Her face lit up a little bit as she continued:
"So there are clothes for you. Meaning you can stay here tonight. Right?"
Deku really tried his best not to take advantage of her being drunk. But she just made it too hard for him.
"I ... I guess, yeah. Guess I'll stay here tonight."
As much as the thought made him uncomfortable, it was definitely worth the radiant smile spreading on her face.
"Yay! Then quick, get dressed, so we can go to sleep."
Well, now it was official. He had not just lost the battle, but also the war. Because there was nothing in the world that was worth turning that beautiful smile into a frown.
Deku hurried to get changed, trying not to read too much into her last sentence. And true to her words, there really were sleeping shorts and a shirt in a drawer, together with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
After getting ready himself (including taking a pillow and blanket for the couch), he took a peek into her room to say goodnight to her. To his surprise, Ochako was sitting on her bed, almost as if she was waiting for something.
"Hey, Ochako?"
She faced him, and her pensieve expression turned into a happy one.
"Deku!", was the only thing she said while extending her arms towards him.
'What is it this time?', the green-haired boy thought to himself. 'Surely she doesn't want me to take off her - no my shirt, right?' But then it hit him: a hug. That's probably what she was asking for. So he stepped into the room, leaning down to hug her.
It felt ... nice. Comfortable even, having her arms around him, her head buried in his neck. Even though he couldn't forget that they were right in front of her bed.
The hug lasted longer than was appropriate, but it just felt too good for either one of them to want to let go. When Deku finally decided to pull away, he could also feel Ochako moving.
Only that she had completely different intentions than him, catching him off guard. Instead of pulling away, she pulled him down, towards her, into the bed with her, where he landed on top of her.
Deku immediately tried to move away from her, but she didn't let him do that. With her arms still wrapped firmly around his neck, the only thing he accomplished was that she was now lying on top of him instead of the other way around.
He was mortified. This was the complete opposite of what he had intended. He almost expected things wouldn't turn out as planned as soon as the other girls told him to walk her home.
But this was far beyond anything he could have imagined.
Him, in her bed. Her lying on top of him. Her arms firmly around him. The cute and happy noises she made, cuddling into him.
"Uhm, Ochako?"
"Hmmm. Good night, Izuku."
With no other options left anymore, he simply responded:
"Good night, Ochako."
Deku felt some weight on his left side. But the warmth under the blankets felt so comfortable, he didn't feel the need to do anything about it. Besides, whatever was on his left side was light enough to not be uncomfortable. Deku was content with just lying under the blanket ... until he remembered last night.
That he wasn't in his own bed. And that this 'weight' on his left actually was Ochako cuddling into him. He was quickly starting to feel anxious, as to how his best friend would react to the situation once she woke up. And while he was starting to analyze the situation, he realized that his left hand was just inches away from her butt. He moved it away carefully, trying not to wake her. But apparently, his efforts were in vain.
"Mhmm. Good morning, Izuku" mumbeled a sleepy Ochako into his ear.
"Uh, good morning, Ochako."
He could feel his cheeks growing hotter as he waited for the storm that was guaranteed to come, once her brain caught up with the situation.
But as the minutes passed and she just kept cuddling with him, he thought to himself that maybe, just maybe, she really was ok with this. And that her behavior last night hadn't just been the alcohol.
"Ochako, I ... I like you. A lot."
Her only response was a quiet hum and her tightening her arms around him.
"Like ... like more than just as my best f-friend."
There it was; after two years, he had finally said it, without anyone interrupting him.
Then he heard a whisper in his ear:
"Same."
'Huh?' was his only thought. That response didn't fit the Ochako he knew. Was she still drunk? Was she still asleep? Or what was going on right now? Had she even heard him? Because if not, then it meant he effectively still hadn't confessed his feelings for her.
While Deku was starting to freak out and over-analyzing the situation, it started to feel as though someone was pressing a hot-water bottle against his shoulder. The shoulder Ochako's head was on. And he heard a loud
"Huuuuuuh~?"
Next thing he knew was Ochako floating under the ceiling, her face a bright read, partially hidden behind her hands, stammering something incomprehensible. Despite the supposed seriousness of the situation, Deku couldn't help but laugh at that. He had his eyes closed, which is why he didn't see her assault coming.
She hovered right above him and released her quirk.
The bed creaked and Deku groaned as she collided with him, but he instinctively held onto her, making sure she wouldn't bounce around and, maybe, get hurt.
They stayed like that for a few moments, until Deku gathered the courage to speak up again:
"So, ... how much did you hear of what I just said?"
He could even feel her face heating up with how close she was to him. But she managed to conquer her embarrassment.
"All of it."
And in a quieter voice, she added:
"A-And I feel the same for you."
Despite hoping for this outcome, Deku was still overwhelmed with happiness, now that it had actually happened. All he could manage right then and there, was to hug her as tightly as possible, tucking her head under his chin, wrapping one arm around her waist and placing the other one along her back. He had been hoping for this for two years, almost never being able to forget it for even a moment as she had always been around him, constantly beating himself up for never being able to tell her.
But that didn't matter anymore. Because now she was his ...
'Seems like there is one more thing to do', he thought to himself.
"Uhm, Ochako?"
He felt her hum in response more than he could actually hear it.
"So, does that mean you're my girlfriend now? And I'm your boyfriend?"
After a brief pause, she responded:
"I'd love that."
And he could hear from her voice that she was smiling.
