Chapter 37: The Journey So Far Part 1
SCENE: GREY SLOAN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
(Andrew walks the hallway carrying Amelia Shepherds scans when he sees Amber Karev in a pantsuit entering the locker room)
CUT TO THE LOCKER ROOM
(Amber in a two-piece burgundy pantsuit with a black v neck shirt and black heels enters the empty locker room observing her possible workplace with awe and anxiety. Andrew enters the room to see what's going on)
Andrew: Can I help you?
Amber: (Turns around to Andrew) Oh uh sorry I'm uh-
Andrew: You shouldn't be in here; the waiting room is down the hall.
Amber: I'm not a patient or a family member I'm…I'm here for my match interview.
Andrew: Okay so what are you doing here? The waiting room is also for interviewees.
Amber: (Nervous) I-I know, I know I shouldn't be here but there were like 20 people ahead of me and I decided to walk around for a bit and see my new workplace. Or potential workplace assuming that I kill this interview and don't make an idiot of myself. I would wait out there with the others but walking around is better than sitting down and googling 'What to do if you don't get matched anywhere?'
(Amber chuckles trying to make it funny but it comes out nervous filled with anxiety causing Andrew to look at her concerned)
Andrew: Nervous?
Amber: (Sighs in despair) Is it that obvious? Of course, is it I ramble when I'm nervous or I punch things it depends on the occasion, I guess.
Andrew: (Grins) Well rambling is better than punching especially if your gonna become a surgeon. I'm sorry but you really can't be here and I've got scans to give to my boss so…
Amber: (Nods) Yeah sure I get it.
(Amber starts to walk to the door when Andrew takes pity on her and decides to help relive her stress)
Andrew: Their looking for human beings.
Amber: (Stops and turns around with a confused face) What?
Andrew: This hospital doesn't just hire good doctors; they hire people who can act like regular humans to patients. Speak clearly, not too loud, and not too low and always keep eye contact. Tell them a meaningful story on why you decided to go into medicine, if it involves saving a life that'll get you some points. Don't mention your looking into other programs because that'll make them think this place is dead last on your list.
Amber: I wouldn't dream of it, what else?
Andrew: Um don't kiss ass but subtly mention you admire their work so that you'll butter them up. Don't smile too much unless you want them to think you're a serial killer and last but not least do not humble brag, they hate that.
Amber: (Nods) Okay no problem I'll just normal brag.
(They both chuckle)
Amber: (Grins) I should probably head back to the lobby thanks for the advice doctor…
Andrew: (Hold his hand out) DeLuca, Andrew DeLuca.
Amber: (Shakes his hand) I'm Amber. Amber Karev.
(Amber turns to leave as Andrew's grin falls as he instantly recognizes her last name)
TRANSITION TO PRESENT
SCENE: LOCKER ROOM
(Amber stands in the middle of the room looking at the first place she met Andrew with sadness. Levi walks by and stops when he sees her inside and goes to her)
Levi: Hey.
Amber: (Clears throat) Hey, I was just…here thinking about when times were simpler and how little I knew what was gonna happen back then.
Levi: Pandemic or DeLuca?
Amber: (Sighs and sits on the bench) Both, this is the first place we ever met you know, this right here was where it started. God it's crazy to think we started with a nervous intern getting advice from a confident resident who didn't know that intern was the sister of the guy who hospitalized him. I bet he was shockes that day and would be more so if he knew he was gonna sleep with me back then.
Levi: Yeah…when does he leave?
Amber: Tonight.
Levi: You know, you delaying going home isn't gonna stop him from leaving.
Amber: Yeah, I know and I know I should go spend as much time as I can with him but-
Levi: You telling him to take a break makes that hard.
Amber: Yeah…I don't want that night to be our last moment together.
Levi: So, don't let it be. Look you two are meant to be, I know your gonna get through this.
Amber: You're just saying that because you ship us like a fanboy.
Levi: I do not.
Amber: (Raises eyebrow)

SCENE: GREY SLOAN PARKING LOT
(Amber and Levi walk beside each other heading inside until Andrew pulls up in his motorcycle across the street. Amber momentarily stops and stares)
Levi: Okay if the dreams weren't obvious then you drooling over him while he's on a hog should scream I like him.
Amber: (Glares at Levi) Schmitt, any relatively handsome man looks especially good on a motorcycle. It's just biology and nothing more. God! How does he make that death machine look appealing? It should not be possible.
Levi: So are we gonna head inside or do you want me to wait so you can keep staring.
Amber: (Angrily) I am not staring.

Levi: (Hushed voice) What are you doing?
Amber: (Hushed voice) Trying to find a good place to live so that my brothers sex sounds don't drive me insane?
Levi: No, I mean what are you doing trying to be alone with Dr. Lincoln? You told me last week that you liked DeLuca and now you want to go out with this guy?
Amber: I am not going out with him I am taking him up on his offer to find me a nice place to live within my budget, something you are currently sucking at. The guy is the chief of ortho, do you really think he wants to shack up with some lowly intern?
Levi: (Thinks for a moment) …Okay you make a good point. Sorry it's just I'm starting to ship you and DeLuca together so naturally I see this guy as a threat to that.

Taryn: Don't worry about it and Amber only acted mean because that's the way kids act around someone that they like. I mean Amber hasn't had a childhood so it's just repressed childlike emotions that she never truly expressed until she was an adult.
Andrew: (Confused) What are you talking about?
Taryn: …Did-Didn't Amber tell you?
Andrew: Tell me what?
Taryn: Um never mind please forget everything I said about Amber for my sake because my life will be ended by her.
Andrew: You said that Amber acts mean like how a kids acts mean to their crush. Does Amber like me? As in like me like me.
Taryn: No that's ridi-
Levi: (Drunk and upset) Yes, she does. She told me a few weeks back when she finally realized it. She had dreams about you after the wedding when you kissed her and I tried to tell her it was because she likes you but she wouldn't listen. She finally acknowledged her feelings to me privately and so I can tell you without a doubt that she is clearly falling for you. The question is do you feel the same way?

Levi: Amber loves you. She hasn't said it and she hasn't realized it because Amber is intuitive with everyone except herself. The reason that she can't talk to you without yelling at you is because someone she loves screwed her over like everyone else in her life has.
Andrew: (Confused) Wait hold on a minute, you don't know-
Levi: I know that you were in love with Jo and I want to defend you because you were right that it was years ago-
Andrew: (Thinks Levi is on his side) Thank you.
Levi: I'm not done, it was years ago but despite that I want to punch you in the face along with Amber. Your so busy defending your side of this argument that you haven't taken the time to imagine how she feels right now. And let me tell you she feels like roadkill that's been left on the street to get run over repeatedly until she becomes part of the pavement. Care to guess who's been running her over?
Andrew: (Inhales and exhales) …Fine maybe your right so tell me what I need to do, how do I fix this?
Levi: Leave her alone for a while, not forever just long enough so that she can process and punch trees and cry. If you care about her at all and if you're really the good guy she thinks you are. You will stay out of her way and not make things harder for her, that is how you can fix this.
TRANSITION TO PRESENT
(Amber looks at Levi in amusement as he realizes she's right)
Levi: Okay fine I'm an Ambrew shipper all the way but that does that not change the fact that your last day together shouldn't be filled with sorrow and pain but with the love that I've seen since the day you told me about your dream. Don't you?
Amber: (Sighs) So much.
Levi: So go, now while his suitcase is empty and enjoy him while you can. I'm serious enjoy him because he looks enjoyable.
Amber: (Moans) He is, okay I'm going wish me luck.
(Amber walks out of the room with Levi grinning as she leaves)
LATER
SCENE: ANDREWS APARTMENT
(Andrew is starting to pack his clothes talking to Carina on the phone)
Andrew: Yes Carina I'm packing, I've been packing for the last three days…how do you know I just started? You're in Italy…Okay fine I'll call you when I'm at the airport, va bene ciao.
(Andrew hangs up and goes to the living room stopping as he spots where he and Amber had his first kiss)

Andrew: Amber…I think your great I mean that, it's just…I don't know if I have feelings for you too and honestly, I wish I did because then it would save us both a lot of pain.
Amber: (Gets an idea) …Kiss me.
Andrew: (Eyebrows raised in confusion) What?
Amber: I think there is something here whether it's mutual attraction or just pure lust (Steps closer to Andrew) You said you wanted to know if you had those feelings for me so (Grabs his beer and puts it on the table) kiss me for real this time.
Andrew: I mean we've kissed before.
Amber: Nope those don't count. First time I caught you by surprise and back then I was just the girl whose brother put you in the ICU. Second time you kissed me but you were two drinks away from cirrhosis so…
(Andrew rubs the back of his neck uncertain of her plan)
Amber: Come on just one kiss and…if you don't feel anything at least I will know then and we can move past this and never mention it again. I mean it's the best deal your ever gonna get buddy.
Andrew: (Sighs) Just one kiss?
Amber: One kiss.
Andrew: …Okay.
Amber: Okay.
(Amber moves closer so their face to face and leans forward until their lips meet. They kiss for twenty seconds and break apart. Amber sees the blank expression on Andrew's face and immediately assumes he didn't feel a spark)
Amber: (Disappointed but composed) I'm sorry.
(Amber grabs her purse and leaves the apartment with Andrew still standing there with a blank face. Andrew sits on the couch and exhales)
Andrew: (Awestruck of Amber after the kiss) Whoa.
TRANSITION TO PRESENT
(Andrew snaps out of it and sighs at the memory when he hears a knock. He puts on a mask and opens the door surprised to find Amber on the other side wearing a mask)
Amber: Hey.
Andrew: Hey, what are you doing here?
Amber: Um…I'm not entirely sure I just…I don't want our last time together to be when I told you we needed a break and…I don't want you to leave thinking I didn't care about you. Look are you all packed for your trip? If not I can help you and we can just talk I guess.
Andrew: …I've barely started get in here. You can help get some coats out of my closet it's gonna get cold there.
(Amber comes in and Andrew closes the door. They head to the bedroom where Amber finds his suitcase empty)
Amber: (Goes to closet) So have you found a place to live?
Andrew: (Folds clothes) Yeah me and Carina found a 2 bedroom near the hospital. It's close to our Zia's terrace so it'll be nice seeing family, I guess that's the one bright spot to this move.
Amber: How many cousins do you have again? 12?
Andrew: 16, their ages 4 to 17.
Amber: 16 Jesus I can barely stand my two brothers as it is.
Andrew: Well American families are different from Italian families. Of course, the one thing we share in common is our family dysfunctions.
Amber: (Gasps and smiles) Oh my god!
Andrew: What? Did you find something?
Amber: (Grins and shows Andrew his stuffed dog in light blue scrubs) Look who I found, Doctor Snuggles!
Andrew: (Chuckles) Oh yeah from our first date.

(They both exchange boxes with Amber going first. She opens the box to find a brown teddy bear in light blue scrubs)
Amber: Awww! It's so cute! What is his name?
Andrew: His name is Curesalot Cutiekens. He's an intern who's learning to become a neurosurgeon for all the teddy bears in Seattle. He's looking into giving them brains.
Amber: (Laughs) I love Curesalot already. Your turn.
(Andrew pulls out a stuffed dog in light blue scrubs)
Andrew: (Laughs) Wow! I guess you and I had the same idea to make our plushies into doctors.
Amber: (Smiles) Her name is Doctor Snuggles; she is a doctor whose first name is actually Doctor. She's a general surgeon who developed the technique to keep stuffing inside.
Andrew: (Chuckles) I love her.
TRANSITION TO PRESENT
(Amber hugs Doctor Snuggles under her chin smiling at it)
Amber: You know you knocked that date out of the park, I thought a simple movie and dinner was what you had planned. I never would've thought up Build a Bear if I were you.
Andrew: (Grins) Yeah well I didn't want it to be boring and I wanted to make a good impression. I mean I kind of owed it to you since I…botched it up when you first asked me out.

Andrew: Wait, are you asking me out? On a date?
Amber: I was trying to be subtle so I don't seem desperate but yeah. What do you say?
Andrew: (Stammering) I don't even know you.
Amber: Well, I mean do people really know each other before going on a date? Come on, I know this great steak house on Kingston, they serve the best baby back ribs I hear that's your favorite.
Andrew: (Chuckles) Wait, who did you hear that from?
Amber: Um, your sister said that. She said you and Sam weren't seeing each other anymore and thought you'd be interested. Was she wrong?
Andrew: (Struggles to find the words) Excuse me. (Leaves promptly)
Amber: You could've just said no!
CUT TO TEN MINUTES LATER
Andrew: If I wanted to move on from Sam, Amber Karev is the last person in this hospital, in the world, that I would do it with!
(Carina motions to the door where Andrew sees Amber's fallen face and immediately feels guilty)
Andrew: Crap.
Amber: This day keeps getting better and better.
Andrew: Amber wait-
(Before he could talk Amber slams the door in his face and power walks away)

(Amber purses her lips at the unpleasant memory while Andrew looks guilty)
Andrew: Sorry about that.
Amber: (Sighs) Well in fairness to you my brother did almost kill you.

(Alex walks in and finds Andrew on top of an intoxicated Jo in bed and wrongly interprets that he's using her)
Andrew: (Realizes and stands up) Okay, no, no. Dr. Karev hold on.
(Alex ignores him and punches him in the face repeatedly as Jo screams his name)
TRANSITION TO PRESENT
(Andrew rubs his temple at the painful memory as Amber looks at him apologetically)
Amber: I am so sorry.
Andrew: It's fine we can't choose our family, it's one of life's greatest tragedies.
Amber: (Nods and decides to change the subject) So uh keep or toss Doctor Snuggles?
Andrew: Uh you know what you keep her, I'm sure your niece would like a tiny doctor to sleep with.
Amber: Okay we'll just add that to her large plushy collection. (Puts bear away) For the record I didn't know about you and Alex when I asked you out. If I did, I would've stayed the hell away from you.
Andrew: Then I guess it's a good thing you didn't know.
Amber: I mean you have to admit if we met at a bar you wouldn't even tell the similarities between us, looks and personality wise. I mean we could have hooked up if you didn't know my last name or DNA.
Andrew: …Yeah.
Amber: (Notices) Why did you pause?
Andrew: I didn't pause.
Amber: Yes, you did, you paused before saying yeah why did you pause?
Andrew: (Groans) It's nothing, it's less than nothing.
Amber: (Stubborn) If it's less than nothing then telling me shouldn't be a problem. (Andrew looks up) Tell me!
Andrew: Okay…what you and Alex lack in looks you make up for in…violent tempers.
Amber: (Blinks) What?
Andrew: Come on we both know what I'm talking about.
Amber: (Offended) Give me one example of a time that I've lost my temper and caused physical harm towards another human being.
Andrew: (Scoffs in amusement)

Amber: (Calmly) DeLuca, get away from him.
(Andrew steps away and Amber stands in front of Vik Roy)
Vik: Look I just-
(Amber stops him with a knee to the groin causing him to groan and kneel down in pain. Andrew and the others look on in shock)
Amber: (Angry) If you come anywhere near me, I won't hit your groin, I'll cut it off. I think you'll believe that since you know firsthand how crazy my family is.

Amber: Nice work Sam, better save the fellow who screwed up before I kick his bullying ass all the way to Canada.
Nico: (Amused) Really?
Amber: Yeah.
Nico: Make sense you would think that since you got the crazy mom who stood by and let your crazy brother stab you.
Andrew: (Protective) Hey!
(Amber doesn't hear what Andrew says because his voice fades out. She feels her anger reaching beyond the boiling point as she slowly curls her right fist. Before Nico could react, Amber quickly grabs his shirt and brings him down to face level. Amber knocks him out with one punch to the face. Sam and Andrew stand by her side and Amber realizes what she did looking at Nico unconscious on the floor)

Jo: (Crying) I don't know! I was out of it when I told you, I'm-I'm going through something right now and I-I felt like unloading on you since we were talking about our problems. And you know you even told me that day that you didn't trust the relationship.
(Amber's rage hits a boiling point causing her to slap Jo on the cheek so hard her head snaps back and she shrieks in pain. The others look on in shock. Jo looks at Amber with a broken look while Amber quivers in anger)
Amber: (Voice shaking in rage) Don't you dare…don't you dare twist my words around to make yourself feel like you are not a backstabbing, two-faced bitch Jo, because you are and you know it.

(Amber hears a door opening while she's in bed trying to sleep. Andrew comes in the bedroom exhausted. He takes his pants and shirt off and gets under the covers. Amber pushes Andrew off the bed making him land on his butt and screech in pain)
Andrew: What the-
Amber: (Angry) Couch. No bed and no sex.

Amber: (Roars in rage) You son of a bitch!
(Amber barges in pushing past Izzie and punches Alex in the face as hard as she possibly can causing him to tumble back)
Izzie: (Shrieks in shock) Oh my god Alex!
Levi: Amber wait!
(Amber ignores them and grabs Alex by his t shirt and pins him against the wall hard)

Andrew: You'd get in your car and leave the people that your supposed to care about behind to pick up the pieces. You'd pick up odd jobs wherever you could, ignore what you did, hell you might even-
(Amber stops his tirade with a slap to the face)

(Andrew sits on the edge of the bed looking at Amber with a raised eyebrow as she crosses her arms looking embarrassed)
Amber: I said to name one example and in my defense most of those people deserved what they got.
Andrew: You asked.
Amber: (Chuckles sarcastically) Yeah well it didn't take you long to think of all the times I've been a human time bomb. Did you make a list in case I go crazy and kill someone?
Andrew: (Soothing voice) Calm down Amber. I am just pointing out that out of the two of us I am the more relaxed person.
Amber: (Raised eyebrow)

Andrew: (Angry) Did she do this?
Alex: DeLuca we really can't talk right now, Gus is in oxygen debt and-
Andrew: (Angry) I don't care! Did Amber have anything to do with this?!
Meredith: Do with what?
Andrew: With putting your daughter's name on the insurance forms, did she?
Alex: (Looks at Meredith worriedly) W-Where did you hear that?
Andrew: It's what the meeting in the conference room is about, insurance fraud. Alex tell me that Amber had nothing to do with this.
Meredith: She didn't DeLuca.
Andrew: (Not believing her) I want to hear it from the man who raised my girlfriend.
Meredith: Let's just calm down.
Andrew: (Scared for Amber and angry) The woman I love might be going to prison so I will not calm down. Now tell me the truth.
Alex: …She had nothing to do with this.
Andrew: Did she know and not tell anyone?
Alex: No, she thought it was insurance fraud but I assured her that it was a technical error. I wouldn't let my sister go down for something she didn't commit, you know that DeLuca.
Andrew: (Relieved slightly) You swear she had nothing to do with this?
Alex: I swear. DeLuca, I wouldn't do anything to hurt Amber again, you know that. I promise she is not gonna lose her job and she is not going to jail.
Andrew: You better be right. I want your acceptance but I am not above kicking your ass if you did something to tank everything Amber has worked too hard to gain. Keep that in mind.

Blake: What happened to you?
Andrew: (Angry and in pain) You want to know what happened to me?
Amber: It's none of his business don't you even-
Andrew: (Ignoring Amber) My girlfriend kicked me out of bed. Literally, she kicked me out of bed and I landed on the floor. I had to sleep on the couch which has more lumps and bumps than the patients at the clinic instead of my comfortable mattress that Amber was enjoying.
Amber: (Angry) Our mattress. The lease is in my name too which means I have half a say in who sleeps in it.
Levi: (Tries to calm them) Okay, let's just-
Andrew: I have a say too and last I checked I bought it before you and I even got together. I bought the bed so I have more rights than you on when and if I get to sleep in it.
Amber: (Angry) Just like you had the right to take over the anastomoses and insult me to the chief behind my back?
Andrew: I said I was sorry. I'm sorry for what you overheard but I'm not sorry for stepping in when I was needed.
Sam: (Sensing a storm about to come) Oh boy.
Amber: (Scoffs) When you were needed? Aka when I made a mistake and you decided to take the surgery like a greedy child and insulting my technique before that. Sam was he ever like this when you two were dating?
Sam: (Hell no) Not getting involved.
Andrew: I'm being a child? Amber, I have apologized to you over and over again but I'm still on the couch!
Amber: Yeah, because you don't see what it is you did wrong! You know what screw this I'm going to cardio.
Andrew: (Grumpy) Fine, call me when I'm allowed back into my bed.
Amber: (Angry) Fine! Call me when you find me a boyfriend who doesn't have his head so far up his own ass.

Amber: I'm just saying that you look exhausted and that you should get some rest so that you can be of better help to Suzanne. Why don't you tag out with Riley and-
Andrew: (Frustrated) Look can you just stay out of this? You've been on vacation for the last four days over some stupid Karev hunt, so you don't know anything about what these past few days have been like and what I need. So just back off all right?

Andrew: (Yells) I saved her life! I did that, okay?! Against all odds, it was a one in a million diagnosis! I did the job that needed to be done!

Andrew: Ortiz when I tell you to run the labs for John Henson, I mean specifically for John Henson! I almost told him his thyroid is over the hormone levels when the labs you sent in his name were for Haley Garcia!
Sara: I-I'm sorry I'm helping with the testing tent and I haven't slept in over 16 hours-
Andrew: And you didn't think that comes with the job? What is wrong with you? I am asking seriously what is wrong with you, Ortiz?!

(Amber sits next to Andrew on the bed as he looks on with a blank expression)
Andrew: (Clicks tongue) In my defense I had undiagnosed bipolar disorder during a few of those moments. What's your excuse? Muscle spasms?
Amber: (Smacks arm)
Andrew: Ah there's another one on the list.
Amber: Shut up it's all I know. You want an excuse? Jimmy and Helen are excuses enough for why I'm so angry all the time.

(Jimmy is detoxing and hallucinating when Jo comes in to tend to him)
Jimmy: Helen!
Jo: Jimmy.
Jimmy: Where are the car keys? You didn't get Alex.
Jo: Jimmy, it's all right. Let's just take you-
Jimmy: He's-he's still out there waiting. You said you'd get him. I come home; you're just sitting on the bedroom floor!
Jo: Alex is all right, Jimmy.
Jimmy: It's after dark! He could be anywhere!
(He ends up pushing Jo into a wall. Alex comes in and pulls Jimmy off Jo and pushes him against the wall.)

Amber: My mother has schizophrenia! She barely took her meds when I was a kid so her screaming and ranting was my alarm clock, the worst was when she would chase me and my brother Aaron with a steak knife thinking we were enemy soldiers.

(Amber looks at Andrew after explaining her parents)
Andrew: Yeah, well Vincenzo DeLuca wasn't exactly dad of the year.

(Alex sits across Andrew and Vincenzo with Carina standing by)
Alex: Look, I believe in your research. I do. But what happened with this patient was a major breach of protocol. I can't have that. So, I've decided-
Vincenzo: (Agitated) You need to reconsider right now what you're about to say.
Andrew: Papa, don't argue.
Vincenzo: Do not interrupt me.
Andrew: Papa, you need to get help before somebody gets hurt.
Vincenzo: Like that baby? I might have saved that baby. (Points at Andrew) But you let it die, (To Alex) and you let it die, (To Carina) and you let it die!
(Carina leaves the room hurt while Vincenzo continues to rant)
Vincenzo: Because of your cowardice and laziness, you will never know if that child had to die at your hands. (Stands up) Damn it! You're stopping my research? That what you're about to say? No! You don't get my research! You don't deserve it! I take it and go! Cretini!
(Vincenzo leaves the room with Alex and Andrew looking at each other in disbelief)

(Amber and Andrew continue sitting on the bed discussing their bad parents)
Amber: Yeah well, I had crap parents plus my brothers weren't exactly great role models for an average little girl.
Andrew: They couldn't have been that bad.
Amber: They fought a lot.
Andrew: Every single pair of sibling's fight.
Amber: (Chuckles darkly) Yeah? Do most siblings fight the day one of them gets surgery?

Aaron: It is a big deal. You get married on the spur of the moment, you walk out on your wife.

Aaron: You have any idea what Mom's gonna do when she finds out? She's gonna go off her meds.

(Andrew looks at Amber in shock over that story)
Andrew: You come from a family of maniacs you know that right?
Amber: Thanks, that's nice to hear from an actual manic.
Andrew: Well, my sister wasn't always easy. We didn't nearly kill each other but there are times she made me want to kill myself.

(Andrew comes back to find Arizona and Carina fooling around in the living room not seeing Carina's face clearly)
Andrew: Oh! (Laughs and keeps walking) Sorry.
Carina: (See's him) Andrea?
Andrew: (Turns around and recognizes Carina) Carina?
Carina: (Italian) What are you doing here?
Andrew: (Surprised in Italian) What are you doing here? And with my roommate?
Carina: You live here? With her?
Andrew: (Exaggerated) Yes! I live here with her and she's my boss at the hospital.
Carina: How was I supposed to know? You never tell me anything when I call you!
Andrew: (Frustrated) Oh my god! Carina!
(The two of them continue arguing in Italian with Arizona as an ignored bystander)

Andrew: (Annoyed) Oh come on!

(Amber looks at Andrew in amusement trying to hold back her laughter)
Andrew: It is not funny.
Amber: I mean come on it's a little funny.
Andrew: Okay how would you feel if Alex and Aaron slept with all your friends and exes? You'd be annoyed too.
Amber: I'd be more concerned and call the cops since those two are over a decade older than me.
Andrew: Okay bad example.
Amber: Well at least we know why your taste in women is questionable.
Andrew: (Raised eyebrow) How so?
Amber: It's textbook psychology, your family never showed you a good example of a stable relationship or whatever and you subconsciously repeated that pattern.
Andrew: (Chuckles) Okay I think you're taking your therapy way too seriously because that is not true at all.
Amber: Oh really?

(Maggie wakes up naked and realizes the mistake she's made. Andrew is getting dressed)
Maggie: Oh, God. Oh, God, please, please. Please, please, please. Oh, no, no. No!
Andrew: (Stands up) Whoa. Hey.
Maggie: Oh, we had sex? We had sex. Yeah, we had so much sex.

Maggie: There are people in this house, and, um, we had sex and you're an intern so you-you have to get out.

Amber: See patterns repeat themselves.
Andrew: (Scoffs) Okay if we're talking copying our family's mistakes in the love department then maybe we should talk about you and every person you've slept with.

Maya: So, what brings a pretty lady like you here? Looking to drink until you forget? Or maybe someone to help you forget?
Amber: (Realizes what's happening) Um…I…
Maya: Did I read you all wrong? Is my gaydar broken?
Amber: No, it is not broken. I was just rejected by this guy at work in a way that takes a woman down a peg and I wasn't looking for company until you came and sat down.
Maya: Whoever rejected you was an idiot. I would say yes, a million times.
(Amber and Maya stare at each other)
AN HOUR LATER AT MAYA'S APARTMENT
(Amber and Maya enter the apartment kissing each other as they roll around each other on the walls and ripping each other's clothes off before landing on the bed)

Alex: I'm not being reckless; I'm being a doctor. You know who is being reckless though? My sister who's on her third one-night stand in a row. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up on the missing tabs of milk cartons.
Jo: Give her a break, she just broke up with Maya. Think of it as…comfort food, only instead of food she's having sex.
Alex: (Groans in disgust) I think I would prefer if she actually used food. And yes, I know I was like that my intern year but she's my little sister, so I don't expect her to copy my disgusting behavior.
Jo: You know its scientifically proven that women want sex as much as guys, right? and she's smarter than you were at her age, so I think she'll be okay with all of her limbs intact. I mean woman with glasses first night seemed okay.
Alex: Tattooed neck guy was sketchy though; his Corvette was splattered with red paint like blood.
(A black ram stopped in the middle of the parking lot showing Amber in the passenger side with her date driving)
Amber: Thanks for the ride.
Colin: So, I'll call you tonight?
(Colin tries to kiss Amber who tilts her head, so his lips meet her cheek instead)
Amber: Um sure.
(Amber exits the car but Colin coughs making her turn around and see her purple lace bra in his hands)
Amber: (Looks at her chest) Thanks.
(Amber grabs her bra and mockingly salutes him with it)

(A young brunette with glasses walks into the room. Amber looks at her and instantly recognizes her)
Kelli: Hi!
Rain: Oh my God! Where the hell have you been?!
Kelli: I'm sorry honey. I had to go over the blueprints of the Delman Estate, but I'm here now at your beck and call like a good wife.
(Kelli kisses Rain while Amber silently panics inside. Jo notices)
Jo: Why don't we give you two some alone time. We'll be back shortly to prep you for surgery Rain. Dr. Karev.
(Amber follows Jo outside the room where they retreat to a doctor's lounge with Amber breathing heavily)
Amber: Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!
Jo: What? What is it? Do you know that woman?
Amber: Oh yeah! In more ways than one should. Why God, Buddha, Satan or whoever is in charge? What did I do to deserve this? Do I wear a kick me sign on my back?
Jo: (Realizing) Tell me she is not the woman with glasses that you slept with.
Amber: I could…but I would be lying.
Jo: Oh my god! You slept with Rain's wife? How could you not know she was married?
Amber: It's not exactly on my list of questions to ask men or woman I want to sleep with. But after today it's gonna be.

(Amber and Ximena are on the floor beside the bed after falling off. They are both naked and sweaty and out of breath)
Ximena: (Panting) Oh my god.
Amber: (Panting) Yeah same.
Ximena: (Panting) I… (Chuckling) I can't catch my breath.
Amber: (Grins) Well we can call up a doctor to check you out, they're a dime a dozen in the building.
(They both laugh loudly)
Amber: (Smiles and exhales) God I forgot how much fun you were.
Ximena: (Smiles) I'm the fun one? I'm not the one who proposed sex like it was candy.
Amber: (Turns over to face her) Oh well this is better than candy and I didn't hear you say no.
Ximena: (Chuckles) Well I'm not the only one who found this arrangement beyond satiable.
(Amber sighs and kisses Ximena again)

(Cobra tries to grab the phone from her by surprise but she sees it coming and takes it out of his reach causing her to laugh)
Amber: (Teasing) Oh, come on is that the best you got?
(They both chuckle and fall silent as they realize how close they are. They give in to their lust and start to kiss causing Amber to drop her phone and wrap her arms around Cobra. They kiss passionately for several moments before Cobra tries to lead her to the couch)
Amber: (Grunts and breaks the kiss) Not here sister and best friend live here now.
Cobra: (Kisses her) Bedroom, where?
Amber: Basement, follow me.
(Amber leads Cobra to her bedroom downstairs)

(Amber shakes her head at Andrew and stands up)
Amber: We're getting off track here, I came here to help you pack not recount all of our past mistakes. (Grabs coats) Are you only taking one suitcase?
Andrew: No I'm taking a carry on duffle bag.
Amber: (Looks at top shelf) Okay I see it I'll get it down.
Andrew: (Remembers and goes to her quickly) Um maybe you shouldn't I'll-
(Amber pulls the duffle bag out and freezes when a black velvet box comes out. She picks it up and opens it revealing the engagement ring Andrew originally bought. Andrew looks at it as memories come back for him)
