The twins were not seven years old. Harue the younger twin had taking a liking to the forest that was near her home, she was skinny, too skinny for her age, her white hair falling to her shoulders, no more no less, she ran deeper into the forest, feeling the large rocks getting pelted against her back and legs. She whimpered as she ran more, faster, just a little longer. And she would be okay, no child other than her dared to enter the forest without a adult or wizard by their side. She continued to run even after not feeling the pelting of the rocks. She soon hit something head on, her eyes blurring from lose of oxygen.
"Ack!" Harue had fallen back on the soft grounds of the forest, letting off a small whimper.
"Aren't you a little young to be on your own? Damned kids coming just to mess up the temples grounds." She glared down the kid. Soon her eyes softened as she realized the hair and eye color.
"I.. was running from kids... they were.. throwing rocks at me.." Harue stayed on the forest floor, she didn't know how the woman was, she wasn't necessarily ready to trust her.
"My name is Omikami, please take my hand." Omikami held her hand out for Harue to take, the smile made her seem softer.
Hearing some kids yelling from behind them, Harue quickly took her hand and leapt up, following Omikami into the temple. When they walked onto the grounds, it was decorated top to bottom, a festival was about to start, Harue and Omikami still walked side by side. Finally stepping into the temple, a priest sat in the middle of the room. He was currently talking to some other children as well. Once he noticed Omikami he had them ushered over. Omikmai kneeled down onto the pillow in front of the priest, and patted the other for Harue to follow her lead.
"I may have found another one."
He was very handsome. She still wasn't ready to trust either of them. But allowing the small chikd shelter was all she could as for. Her mother had spoken of a temple near there home Westland of the town. Maybe this was them.
"My my. What lovely white hair and bright green eyes."
The priest would speak, his voice was faded.. almost as if he wasn't actually there. The teenager Omikami sat next to Harue. She tried to change her energy to allow a more comforting aura for the young child.
Omikami wasn't used to watching over young children, she watched the child with curiosity. She had never seen a blessed this young, she wondered how long she was marked for. Her icy blue eyes came back to the priest as he began to speak again.
"May I see your left arm little one?"
He himself held out a hand to receive her arm, his hand was icy, Harues hair stood on her small arm, she watched as he examined her left arm, finding the small moles on her arm, it was just below her elbow and hid easily.
"Ah!"
He said happily as he found it, pressing his fingers to the spot, directly in the center of it. Bewildering the small child as a light came together and connected each dot, showing the Big Dipper.
"Blessed God Slayer of our Goddess."
He spoke to Omikami, this was her first time seeing a god slayer both so young and in person. She had only read of them. The child was to small and frail to actually accommodate what the temple and their people needed. And why would the Goddess want a god slayer? Wasn't she worried that the child would come for her later on if she felt like she needed to.
"Are you sure, my priest?"
Omikami was proper, to proper for a teenager, merely fifteen. She sat tall, and square. Harue was slouched and held her head down as the priest released her arm. She didn't know what god slayer meant, she didn't know what a goddess was.
"I'm sure my child, this is Sora's child, is it not? The baker that brings us goods. I'm glad to have her child on our side, especially with her strengths."
He chuckled softly as continued to watch over Harue. Omikami felt slightly envious of the creature that sat beside her. A small scowl crossed over her face. Until she heard the familiar voice, a woman shouting the name.
"Harue! Where are you sweetheart!"
Sora yelled. Harue had jumped from her seat and ran to the voice, tears welling in her eyes again as she ran into the arms of her mother. The small child didn't realize how long she had been away from her mother.
"I was so worried about you my sun. What happened? Why are you bleeding?"
Her mother began to ask more and more questions, Harue began to feel overwhelmed in everything that happened and on top of that her mother asking so many questions.
As she felt her anxiety rise, clenching both fists together she would accidentally teleport away from her mother, and well everyone else for that matter. She was close enough to the temple to still see it but far enough away from everyone.
In those matters of seconds she was luckily, like a train a tornado came in and began to wipe the temple out. It was just sunny and warm out. The added anxiety didn't help Harues heart rate.
The poor seven year old hide behind a tree and curled up, she could hear the screaming, crying and destroying of the temple. She couldn't move, she held her hands over her ears to keep them out, they pierced her eardrums. An unknown amount of time had passed, a large thud came in front of her.
A large woman with purple hair that flowed and pooled in the ground. Her skin was pitch black, she had freckles that looked like stars. The comforting aura that held onto her made Harue melt and trust her.
"My child... you must do this for me.. eat this, it shall help you in your future endeavors. Trust me for I am your goddess."
The woman held out a chunk of something, it looked like a crystal but smelled sweet. Harue couldn't tell what it was, but it didn't look like it would harm her, at least, she hoped. Taking the crystal from the woman's hand she would toss it into her mouth, smiling at the sweet sensation.
"It's so sweet! What is it? And what's endv.. endeavors mean?"
She looked back up to see that the woman was gone, and herself, being picked up by her mother and watching the temple burn as she ran. Harue was more than confused on why everything happened like it had, this would be her first and last memory of the temple, she watched the young Omikami roar into the sky at someone. The magician attack looked like a galaxy made into a tornado, it was beautiful.
"Harue, are you alright baby? No one hurt you right?"
Her mother began to question, the sense of dread washing over herself.
"No mama.. I'm okay, I promise."
The young girl smiled at her mother in hopes it would calm her down, though she wasn't physically hurt, she still couldn't figure everything out, why did her arm glow? Why did they say she was blessed, who was the woman who had her eat that candy?
The next few days were hard for Harue, every time Harue would clench both fists she would teleport, maybe a few feet, maybe meters away. The worst time that she had teleported was when her father came at her with a strong fist, she teleported to the next town over, her father was no fan of magic, he planned on either convincing Harue that it was wrong or he would beat it into her, Azumi being an adult male already towered over the seven year old. It wasn't hard to scare Harue either. She would quickly run and hide from anyone who even dared to raise their voice at her.
From a younger age, Harue was taught to cook, clean and keep her appearance to be petite, no man wants a large woman is what her father would say, on a nice day.
"You cannot grow your hair out Harue, it will make you look like a common harlot!"
"You have to stay skinny, men do not like women with fat."
"You must know how to serve your husband and family."
"No man wants a strong woman, they only want subservient."
"No man wants a woman who knows magic, its a mans role to protect and a woman's to serve"
Was things she would hear on daily basis, she remained to skinny four a seven year old, she would begin to sneak out and learn her magic, though she was doing everything wrong she simply didn't care, she felt at home when she used her magic. The galaxy and stars made her fall in love with just dancing with her magic, she didn't need to use it for combat purposes like her father, had suggested.
Each step was easy, almost as if this is what she was made for this, she was always under the watchful eye of her mother, she didn't like the fact that her father didn't trust her to go play with the village children, she had stay home, and become a subservient woman and a watchful mother herself one day when she is older, she didn't want that for herself. She wanted to be a strong mage, like the ones she had watched run around the town, though they were mere teenagers, Harue still looked up at them with awe, her bright green eyes shining like emeralds, her white hair in the wind. She never stopped looking at them in utter awe. She had gotten to meet plenty of mages due to her mothers work line, they would all say that her mothers cooking had healing properties, and who was Harue to argue? She knew that her mothers cooking did, every time she was sick, she would eat her mothers cooking and almost always by the next day would be better.
On days like that life seemed easy, her father didn't have much interest in her up bringing only to tell her what she can and cannot do. And what she should be studying already, he may not have allowed her to use magic, but he did want her to be smart. He would gift her large books, giving her dates that she miss have completely read them by, and she would be tested.
"What do you mean you didn't finish the book? It was only two hundred chapters."
While he looked calm on the face He was furious, he picked up the book and brought it down on her head harshly. It had knocked her over with a loud thud. Her mother would run over but she knew she couldn't stop what was happening, this wasn't the first time something like this has happened to Harue.
The punching and kicks were routine when she had messed up, she knew to cover her vital organs and face so he wouldn't damage it in the process of, how he would say, correcting her own stupidity, for his bloodline, what mattered was wealth, appearance and intelligence, he didn't believe in rule breaking, magic, or even being sick. Every thing was an excuse. Harue would watch her mother get up at five every morning, get ready for work, and stay in the bakery with her until sunset.
That has been the routine since she was four, get up, go to work, do homework, take care of yourself, diet constantly, and sleep. She knew at the young age if her mother could take up for her she would, it wasn't a matter of not caring, it was a matter of not being strong enough. She would never blame her mother, only question why she wouldn't leave him.
