SCP-8166 was discovered to be anomalous while interviewing George and Chloe Veers, the parents of SCP-5239. Shortly after the news of SCP-5239's release was declassified to all personnel, the object's parents were brought in for questioning.

However, both parents continued to misgender and deadname SCP-5239, provoking the wrath of Dr. Xavier Dusk and activating his abilities for the first time. He attacked and killed both interviewees, thus necessitating an immediate response from security personnel. When they arrived, the transformed doctor proceeded to ambush and murder them before coming to his senses.

In the aftermath of this event, Dr. Dusk was taken to his cell in handcuffs and designated SCP-8166. Once he was released from his restraints, he began panicking while attempting to escape. Vanderbilt requested the sedation of SCP-8166; the observation window was opened and the entity was knocked out using a tranquilizer dart.

Further investigation revealed that Junior Researcher Hokulani Kelekolio, the sole member of staff assigned to keep track of the interview and prevent any problems, had gone to fetch her coffee when the object's claws initially developed. Security footage shows that she returned to the observation room when Dr. Dusk had already killed the interviewees.

She was confronted on this four days after the incident. Dr. Douglas Snapdragon, her current romantic partner, defended Junior Researcher Kelekolio and chose to share her fate, citing a promise he supposedly made to her. When questioned on this decision, Dr. Snapdragon assaulted Site Director Graham, attempted to choke him before being taken to the D-Class quarters.

As of May 7th, [REDACTED], Hokulani Kelekolio and Douglas Snapdragon are to be addressed exclusively as D-8118 and D-7117 respectively.

I'd like to issue a formal apology for not having any staff besides Miss Kelekolio present when this disaster took place. We initially believed that since there were no anomalies present, minimal supervision would suffice. As I'm sure you all know by now, this was a massive oversight on our part, and we will take steps to ensure this never happens again. - Site Director Thomas Graham

"Junior Researcher Kelekolio?"

"Yes, sir?"

He shot a cold glare at the anxious woman in a lab coat. "You were supposed to make sure nothing went awry during the interview. And yet you failed, resulting in a massive loss of life. What kept you from doing your duties?"

"I...I was getting coffee around the time his claws showed up," Hokulani replied, now beginning to stumble over her words.

"You chose coffee over the easy task we assigned you to carry out?! This catastrophe would not have happened if you sounded an alarm bell once Dr. Dusk started sprouting claws!" Thomas snarled.

Then he added with extra venom, "Not to mention, your dearest coworker will be spending the rest of his days in containment. All because of your coffee break."

"You're the one who didn't have anyone else observing! Besides, Dr. Dusk already killed those two by the time she got back!" Dr. Snapdragon retorted.

"It was supposed to be a low-risk interview, as there were no anomalies present. Or so we believed. It was because of Miss Kelekolio's failure at the very simple task she was assigned that this fiasco took place to begin with," Thomas reminded him.

At this point, Hokulani was on the verge of tears. "I didn't mean it! I'm sorry, sir! It won't happen again!"

"It matters not. From this day forward, you are D-8118. Guards, get this simpleton out of my sight."

Seeing his girlfriend being dragged off kicking and screaming made Douglas Snapdragon's hands ball into fists. "The fuck was that about?! She apologized for her mistake!"

"Need I remind you that this 'mistake' of your cherished lover resulted in the deaths of not just two civilians, but an entire security team as well?" Thomas snarled.

Then he added, "Speaking of your little liaison, you are to break up with D-8118 once she's donned the appropriate uniform and her new status is registered. I will be watching as the event takes place."

Douglas briefly had a look of horror on his face, before his expression shifted to one of pure, unbridled rage. "You can't do this! I love her and nothing you say will change that!"

"Or, I can have her terminated without delay so we won't have that problem," Thomas said calmly, in sharp contrast to the mix of terror and hatred Douglas was now feeling.

Taking note of the younger man's emotional state, he then added with a chuckle, "Well, there is a third option. But it involves you sleeping in the D-Class quarters, starting today. If you pick this option, that is."

Upon hearing these words, Dr. Snapdragon was calmer, as if he was carefully weighing his options. "I'd hate to see you in D-Class garb. You're one of the most promising members of staff I've seen in far too long. A man such as yourself rising the ranks at the speed you did is practically unheard of."

As much as I hate to admit this, Graham is right. You don't become a Foundation Doctor at 25 without immense dedication and intelligence.

But if I picked keeping my job over Hokulani, I'd be condemning her to death or worse. I promised my moonbeam on our first night of passion together that I'd never betray her.

And I'm not breaking that promise I made to Hokulani for the sake of pleasing Graham.

With a sigh, Douglas said, "I pick the third option. I will become a D-Class alongside my girlfriend. I made a promise to never betray her, and I'm not breaking it. Especially when she needs me more than ever."

Thomas took a moment to process this news, then started laughing. "You, the most promising Doctor we've seen in decades, are picking someone condemned to die in a month over the prestige that comes with your rank?"

Douglas lunged at Thomas and grabbed his neck, hatred burning in his eyes. "Did I stutter? If we are to die, we will die together, hand in hand! And nothing you do will get in the way of our love!"

The guards then pulled Douglas off of the man he was choking. As he was taken to his cell, he raised both middle fingers in his former superior's line of sight.

"Fuck you, Graham! FUCK YOU!"
