Seth sighed as he walked from his car to the front door. He had hoped Becky would stay home until he came back but she had been adamant on leaving an hour earlier. He didn't like the idea of Meggie being alone even though it was only for an hour. She was still fragile and needed to feel safe after what she had been through. It was only because Meggie had assured him she would be fine alone that he had backed off.
He unlocked the door and stepped inside. A smile spread on his face when he heard something he hadn't heard for 7 long years. Meggie was playing her violin. He quickly dropped his bag and ran through the house. He found her in the living room and it was like a trip into the past seeing her standing there playing a beautiful song. She looked over at him and saw tears in his eyes so she stopped playing.
"No, don't stop. It's beautiful," he said.
"I'm rusty," she said.
"You don't sound rusty to me," he said.
"Thank you for saving it," she said.
"I could never get rid of it. I don't know how many times I sat in that attic and just looked at it whenever Becky wasn't home. Just staring at it and trying to remember how it sounded when you played," he said.
"Becky was the one who told me it was up there. I didn't go snooping," she said.
"You're allowed to snoop all you want. It used to be your house too," he said.
"Yeah, used to," she said.
She sighed and placed the violin back in its case. When she stood up, he had moved over to her. He placed a hand on her cheek and studied her new hairstyle.
"You look beautiful," he said.
"I wasn't trying to aim for that. I actually wanted to be able to blend in anywhere without anyone noticing me," she said.
"You'll always look beautiful no matter what," he leaned in. "My beautiful pearl."
He kissed her and she grabbed on to his t-shirt.
"Seth," she whispered. "Are you sure this is wise?"
"Not one bit but I don't care," he said.
He wrapped his arms around her and slowly backed her into the bedroom. They fell down on the bed together and he took his time undressing her and exploring her body all over again. There wasn't a spot he didn't kiss or touch. He left her a shivering mess on the bed after two orgasms. One by his fingers, the other by his tongue. He kissed his way up her body again, found her lips once more, and pushed inside her while kissing her.
"Seth!" She moaned.
"Easy, beautiful pearl. I got you," he said.
They rocked back and forward slowly for several minutes. His hands ran through her hair while he continued to kiss her. Little by little he set a faster pace until she cried out a third time. Her orgasm triggered his own, and he cried out alongside of her. He slowly slid down next to her and pulled her into his arms. She heard him start crying and she grabbed his head and forced him to look at her.
"I missed you so much," he cried.
"I missed you too," she said.
"It's all so fucked up. I'm married. This wasn't supposed to happen," he said.
"Do you want me to leave?" She asked.
"No," he answered.
He pulled her close and cried down in the crook of her neck. She held him tight and cried alongside him. It was fucked up. She knew that too.
"I'm so sorry. I should have waited for you," he said.
"You thought I was dead," she said.
"Then I should have stayed single forever," he said.
"That's not fair, and it's not how the world works. I don't blame you for moving on," she said.
He looked up at her and she tried with a weak smile.
"I still love you," he said.
"I still love you too," she said.
"What are we gonna do?" He asked.
"What do you wanna do?" She asked.
"I don't know," he answered.
She nodded and tried with another weak smile.
"Maybe it's best if we forget this happened," she said.
"I can't," he said.
"You must," she said. "You're a married man, Seth. And I'll be out of here soon enough. Let's pretend this never happened. Becky doesn't have to know about it. The moment I'm out of your hair, you'll both be happy again. You won't second guess yourself anymore."
She moved out of bed and gathered her clothes on the floor.
"Are you sure this is what you want?" He asked.
She took a deep breath and turned to look at him.
"Yes," she lied.
"You're lying," he said.
"No, I'm not," she said.
"Don't give me that. I can always tell when you're lying. You have no pokerface around me," he said.
"It doesn't matter, Seth," she said. "You're married and that's final. I am telling you no. You gotta respect that."
He signed and nodded. He would never push her into a place she didn't want to be. He knew she was making the easy choice for him but it still hurt that she was ready to walk away from him.
