Sailor Moon: Not Every Enemy Stays Defeated Chapter 12: Episode 11: The First Cleansing, a sailor moon fanfic

Hey Everyone, Miles here to say, like every fanfic, I don't own any of the media that I use or reference. I'm just telling a story and that's all there is to it.

Episode 11: The First Cleansing

The door burst open on the rooftop with Haruka and Michiru running out.

(Haruka)Everyone, cloaks, NOW!

Nobody questioned the urgency in her voice and immediately put on their cloaks.

After a few seconds of silence, sirens around the city, usually meant for tsunamis, were blaring at an extremely high volume.

After that, the streets were filled with soldiers. They surrounded the apartment building.

A pair of military helicopters with searchlights brightened the roof and the insides of the apartments.

Next thing they knew, they could hear soldiers entering the building and eventually, they broke onto the rooftop.

(Soldier 1) God Dammit! Where the hell are they!? Those two said they'd be here. We even followed them just to be sure!

(Soldier 2) Hey, they might be hiding inside an apartment. All of them are being searched now.

(Soldier 1) Still can't believe it. It's just like with those other terrorist. Take one and they start talking their head off. They'll tell you just about anything to not get tortured or killed.

(Soldier 2) Oh c'mon, you really think this is a small group of rebels trying to leak intel?

(Soldier 1) Yeah, no way did the famous Sailor Guardians come all the way here. What would they even come here for? No matter, if we find them, they're shot on sight. The public can cry all they want, but they'll forget about this little group soon enough. I'm tired of the people thinking that the Sailor Guardians are equal or even above the military. So if it is them, there's a bonus.

The soldiers were standing right in front of them. That was until a third soldier ran up to them.

(Soldier 3) HEY! What the hell? You said your squadrons made contact with two of the suspects and that you tracked them here. So, WHERE ARE THEY?

(Soldier 1) Look they definitely came here. We stormed the building almost right after they went inside from the ground floor, I'm positive they're here!

(Soldier 3) They'd better be, or else it'll be your ass, not mine!

(Soldier 2) Damn, he was pissed. So, what ARE you you gonna do if they don't find them?

The first soldier was visibly enraged.

(Soldier 1) That blonde bitch! I swear, they were here. Man, if they were in front of me, I'd love to put a bullet in their leader's skull, then the rest of 'em wouldn't know what to do and it'd be easy pickings.

(Soldier 2) Sure, but don't they have powers? Wouldn't that make your gun useless?

(Soldier 1) Okay, they may be superhuman, but they ain't bulletproof, I know that.

They stood there, in front of the very people they were hunting, just waiting for something to happen.

Then the third soldier reappeared, calmer than before.

(Soldier 3) Well the search had concluded.

(Soldier 2) So did you guys find the-

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

The third soldier pulled out his service pistol and shot the first soldier 5 times. One bullet went through the soldiers eye, another through the left side of the jaw, another through the shoulder and one in each leg.

The soldier fell, silent. The other soldier looked at the new corpse, horrified.

(Soldier 2) WOAH WHAT THE-

(Soldier 3) The official story will be that this soldier tried to launch a terrorist attack, before he could initiate his plan, he was quickly eliminated. Does this story make sense.

The soldier immediately composed themselves, as if it was to keep them from being shot as well.

(Soldier 2) Yes, sir.

(Soldier 3) Good, I'll go get someone to help you carry the body.

After the third soldier went inside, the second one just talked to himself.

(Soldier 2) So that's why you didn't answer my question. You already knew you were screwed. I swear, I thought I would be next if I didn't agree. But hey, that's what we did last time when we killed those people who didn't like that we were covering up the terrorist massacre, right?

After that everyone was silent until they left after clearing the building and carrying out the body in a body bag.

Even after everyone had left, the Sailor Guardians waited another hour as the sun finally set.

(Usagi) Alright, everyone covers off.

(Haruka) Okay, we can explain-

(Usagi) Explain what!? The fact that you told them where we were? Or the fact that one of those people was executed for your actions? Please, tell the rest of us what justified putting everyone in danger.

(Michiru) Look, there wasn't anywhere we could escape from, they had the entire place surrounded, there was no way for us to leave without getting caught. So we misled them into thinking that they could catch you if we told them where we were meeting. They insisted on following us here to make sure. Buy we're all fine, aren't we?

(Rei) I'm sorry did you not see the soldier in front of us get shot to death because he was misled by YOU TWO!?

(Haruka) Seriously, you're gonna feel bad for someone that openly hated us and even said that he wanted to kill Usagi?

(Makoto) Regardless, he was a human being whose death is on the lies you told him. How can you even say that? Is this really the Pure heart Crystals all over again? Where everything was "for the sake of humanity", even killing people if it means you achieved your objective.

(Haruka) Oh don't put that on us. It was either us or the world, we were, and are still willing, to make sacrifices for the greater good.

(Usagi) Enough! Haruka, Michiru, you two will come with us to exterminate infected people in this city, but after that is where we part ways. I ask that you two go to different cities than to finish this mission. Your actions today have shown that you are willing to put others at risk for the mission and I can't allow you to put us in danger like that again.

(Michiru) Usagi... Fine.

(Haruka) Michiru! What are you-

(Michiru) I believe that this is probably the best course of action for us. I understand that our methods are very different, but it doesn't mean that we can't progress in the mission.

(Usagi) I agree. After here, you two should head back to Minato and have Setsuna assist you. Then you should go around Tokyo to Taito because that is where we will link up. Tokyo is a much larger threat than anything we're gonna see, so it's best that we make that a team effort.

(Haruka) Agreed.

THe group left the apartment building. They went nearby to the local hospital. They went through the roof, the same as last time. This time though, when they found the rooms with infected patients in them, they were mercifully executed with single shots, if the infection had given them resistance, they were shot multiple times. Thankfully, the rooms were naturally soundproof so each shot that rang out didn't alert the nearby infected and it didn't alarm anyone on the lower floors.

Every shot meant that another infected patient was dead, and with them, the parasite that was trying to spread itself to others.

Nobody wanted to do it, but it was something that had to be done regardless. But Rei, Makoto and Minako were wary of Michiru and Haruka. They didn't want their help, even if it made things go a little faster. The three were expecting one of them to try and get them infected.

Most of the infected were easy to kill. Some were in their beds and others were staring out of their windows, their minds going as the parasite took over.

There was a close call where one of them tackled Michiru and tried to bite her, but she sent a few bullets through its chest and another through the brain.

After an hour of scurrying around, the job was done. every infected in the city was dead. Even the ones that were outside had been killed.

They had done it. The first city to have eradicated the infection.

After getting back down to a secure location. The group said their goodbyes.

(Haruka) I guess this is goodbye.

(Michiru) Good luck everyone.

None of the girls responded except for Hotaru.

(Hotaru) See you two soon. I hope we can fight together once more.

(Haruka) Whatever.

The group put their cloaks on and went their separate ways. Usagi, the inner guardians and Hotaru went towards Shinjuku while Haruka and Michiru went back to Minato City to get Setsuma's help.

As the group walked along the empty main road to Shinjuku, it was an awkward silence. Everyone was worried that the two would possibly pull a similar stunt in Minato, but they wondered why Usagi ha let them go instead of trying to force them to make up. Usually she would try to reconcile anyone who disagreed. Maybe it was too far this time.

Without words, everyone decided against talking about what happened, or anything for that matter.

It was a quiet night. What should've been a bitter victory turned into an even more bitter loss. Because sure, the infection was exterminated in Shibuya, but they incurred an unexpected casualty, even it was just one person, that hated them, no excuse for someone to be killed for their own reasons, no matter the reason.

Meanwhile in Minato City...

After the group left, Grandpa gave an act to the military about how Rei had left in the middle of the night, he even wrote a fake runaway letter.

The military searched the property again. They interrogated Grandpa Hino and they were still given nothing, believing that Grandpa Hino really was just a victim in the event of his

granddaughter running away. They never went to him again to search the property. These days, there were infected walking the streets during every night and the military would just shoot them whenever they came.

During the night people could hear the armored trucks outside, with soldiers just laughing and being loud as they treated the infected as target practice, not even treating them like a threat anymore.

It was the next day, the Sailor Guardians slept in the brush between Shibuya and Shinjuku. Every hour, someone woken up to be the watch for any possible infected.

On this day, the news broke about the Sailors actions.

Grandpa Hino was taking a break to watch the news alone by himself. It was all he could do after cleaning the Shrine out of boredom.

Then the news started talking about a sighting of the Sailor Guardians in Shibuya.

Grandpa Hino ran as fast as he could to gather all of the parents and Mamoru.

They sat and watched the news.

It was the same news channel and anchor from before.

(Akane) Hello Nerima, I am Akane Saotome and I have some breaking news from inside the bubble. Just yesterday, there were dozens of sightings of who people think were the Sailor Guardians.

(Akane) These sightings were made after one of the people suspected to be a sailor guardian was heard talking negatively about the local military presence. The group the person was with were all reported to the local authorities right away. Unfortunately, authorities were unable to apprehend the suspects and lost them.

(Akane) The authorities had one lead, but it turned out to be a rebel protesting against the local military presence. Records given to the press revealed that the soldier, -_-_-_ Hajime was a known rebel with the military ranks and constantly showed support for rebellious groups and even the Sailor Guardians.

(Akane) After the soldier was dishonorably discharged, the local military posed an order for every citizen to immediately return home, to lock themselves inside and to report ANY suspicious persons.

(Akane) No more reported sightings were made, but this morning, doctors were horrified when they clocked in to check in on patients infected with the new disease. They were met with a gruesome scene of deceased patients. Every patient that had been infected was murdered in one night. Most of the deceased patients seemed to have been murdered as if in a humane way, with almost everyone of them having a single somewhere in their heads. Only one patient was reported to have been shot in the chest multiple times. Local personnel suggested that this patient may have been unfortunate enough to have confronted the killers.

(Akane) Local officials also believe that the Sailor Guardians are the ones behind this due to the fact that they were sighted in the city and the patients were killed on almost the same day.

(Akane) Although this has not been confirmed, I ask the viewers. Do you think that the Sailor Guardians could be cold-blooded killers? Even after all they've done to protect us, even putting their own lives at risk?

(Akane) I even have my own daughter at home... She believes the Sailor Guardians don't do anything wrong and that everything is for love and justice. I'm inclined to believe her. But was this for "love and justice"? I don't think so.

The news continued and the parents couldn't believe it. The outside had no idea what was happening literally a few miles from their homes.
