When they arrived at the club, Letty and Isabella were sitting, across from one another, at one of the picnic tables, talking.

Coco and Bishop exchanged glances as they dismounted their bikes and removed their helmets before walking toward them. As Coco sat down next to Letty, Bishop passed one leg over the bench, straddling it, before putting his arm around Isabella's waist and pulling her against his chest.

"What are you two talking about?" asked Coco.

"Isabella says that I could enroll in GED night classes."

"What's that?" asked Coco.

"It means that if I go to classes and pass the test, I'll have my high school diploma. I can still work at the diner during the day, to help pay for things."

Coco eyed Isabella. "Is that true? She can do that?"

Isabella nodded. "The classes start in September so she has time to enroll, and I can make sure that she is up to date on the subjects by then."

"You'd do that?" said Coco.

"Yes. I can tell she's smart. With a high school diploma in hand, it gives her a lot of options."

"Maybe I can even go to a city college or learn to be a beautician."

"I don't know what to say," replied Coco upon seeing his daughter's enthusiasm and Isabella's big heart.

"Say yes, please, Coco," begged Letty.

"I'm not good at all this paperwork shit and all."

"I'll take care of everything," said Isabella to comfort him.

"OK, mija, get your diploma."

Letty smiled at Isabella as she threw herself in Coco's arms, before both stood from the table and went inside to get drinks.

Bishop leaned in and planted a kiss on Isabella's neck. "Thank you for doing that."

Isabella shifted slightly so that she could turn to look at him. "She's a smart kid, it would be sad if she didn't get a chance at having a better life. For her and Coco."

"I'm sure there are a lot more like Letty out there."

"Maybe I can start helping out the community, as I got fired two hours ago."

He frowned then placed his arms around her neck. "Belita, I'm sorry."

"Don't be, maybe it's for the best. Things always happen for a reason. I'm sure there is a good reason."

He leaned in for a long kiss as Angel looked on from where he and Riz were working on a bike.

"It's going to take a while to get used to that," he said sighing.

Riz looked up from the bike toward Bishop and Isabella. "I'm sure it will. But if you want my honest opinion, Bishop is different with her."

"How can you tell?"

"I pay attention to a lot of things, Angel. I've seen how he is with the regulars and the girls at Vicki's. This is nothing like that. It's the way he looks at her, how he touches her and kisses her. I believe he truly is falling in love with her."

Angel shook his head and closed his eyes. "Don't talk about him touching her or kissing her."

"Too soon?"

"Yeah."

"Sorry hermano. It'll be like anything else… The more your body is in contact with a virus, the more it gets immune… Soon you'll be immune to all of this. Heck you'll even move on to a girl yourself and maybe fall in love."

Angel shoved him jokingly.

"How is your mom?" asked Bishop as they cuddled on the bench.

"It was hard. This chemo is more aggressive than I thought it would be. She's in worse shape than before she started."

"But it's necessary, right?"

"That's what the doctor says, and I trust him. She has two more sessions and then she'll get the surgery."

"OK, so she still has time to recuperate at home before the next session."

Isabella shook her head. "She talked to the doctor and asked him to admit her full time until her surgery…behind my back. And he agreed."

"You're not happy about her choice?"

"Not really. I know why she did it. She knows that she'll be taken care of at the hospital and that way I don't have to do it. She may be ill, but she's not dumb."

"She's protecting you."

"I don't need her to protect me. She has made up her mind that now with Samuel in college I should think about myself and obviously, if she's around for me to take care of and hover over, she knows I won't do it."

Bishop nodded in understanding. "Mothers usually know best, mi amor."

She lifted her brows. "What did you just say?"

"I said mothers…"

"I heard that part," she said cutting him off. "Did you call me mi amor?"

"I did," replied Bishop with a huge smile on his face. "Do you want me to say it again?"

"Yeah, but not here, because I might just want to show you how I feel about it."

He laughed as he stood. "Ok, then I'll tell you again later, and tomorrow and every day after that."

As he walked toward the clubhouse, Isabella pulled out her laptop from her backpack and started to look at the admission requirements for Letty.

"Bella?"

She looked up from the screen to see Angel standing nervously near her. He too was pretty beaten up, indicating that Bishop hadn't been easy on him.

"I wanted to apologize. Really apologize."

"OK," she said as she looked at him.

"I need some time to process, but I'll do my best so that we can become friends again, like we were before."

"That's all I want, Angel. I'm here, it's your call."

"Yeah," he replied as he kicked his booted foot in a pebble. "I need to go help Riz. I'll see you later."

As she turned her head back toward her laptop, she saw that Bishop had been standing in the doorframe watching and listening. She gave him a nod indicating that it was all good and he did the same before disappearing inside as Letty came hopping back toward the table and sitting next to her.

"OK, cariña, let's have a look at what we need to get you enrolled."
