Welcome back to City of Angels and Demons. Last time, the worst came to pass, as Christina Summer got recaptured by whoever these attackers were, managing to knock Spyro out in the process. After things settled down a bit and Spyro told the full story of what happened out back, we learned a little more about Christina Summer, namely that she had been missing for more than a year by the time she literally ran into Cynder, but the investigation had concluded that she was a runaway. Hicks also managed to get the lead investigator and a rep from Internal Affairs to check the scene out. But something still rubbed our favorite pair of dragons the wrong way. So, are their suspicions warranted? Read on to hopefully discover...
(Our scene opens with Spyro, Cynder, Hondo, Deacon, and Hicks gathered in SWAT's command center as two others walk in: one in a suit with a haughty air about him, and the other a more street level looking cop)
Hicks: Officer Azaria, Investigator Lesus, good to see you.
Investigator Lesus: I just wish it were under better circumstances.
Hicks: (Turning to the two dragons) Spyro, Cynder, these are the two I was telling you about. (Turning to the street level looking cop) Officer Moe Azaria was the lead investigator on Christina's case over a year ago. (Turning to the man in the suit) And this is Frank Lesus, the Investigator Internal Affairs sent over.
Cynder: Pleased to meet you, gentlemen.
Investigator Lesus: (Disgusted, but hiding it well) The pleasure is all mine.
Officer Azaria: Is it true? Has Christina really turned up after all this time?
Spyro: For a little bit, yes. Unfortunately, in the wake of the attack on SWAT this morning, she was kidnapped again. (Rubs his neck) If it weren't for that shattered vertebra, I could've stopped them.
Officer Azaria: (Rubbing his own neck) Don't take it too hard, son. You're not alone on that front. This old wound from Desert Storm has bitten me in the ass more than a few times
Investigator Lesus: If we're done comparing war wounds, I do believe there was an accusation that the animals who attacked SWAT this morning were fellow LAPD officers?
Cynder: (Places the ID she pulled on a table) If this ID is anything to go by.
Investigator Lesus: (Picks up the ID and examines it) Hmm... This looks genuine, alright. Now, your theory is that they were on Officer Azaria's team back when Christina went missing the first time?
Deacon: That was Spyro's theory at the time, yes.
Investigator Lesus: Good thing Officer Azaria is here. (Shows Officer Azaria the ID) Does this look like one of your team members?
Officer Azaria: (Examines the name) Yeah, it is. That's Skinner, the officer who first responded to Christina's disappearance.
Hicks: Would you be willing to identify the other captured gunmen?
Officer Azaria: Gladly.
Hondo: In the meantime, SWAT would like access to anything connected to Christina's disappearance.
Investigator Lesus: I'm not sure we can...
Officer Azaria: Left it in the next room, examine at your leisure and make copies of the paperwork if you need to, we just need it all back when you're done.
Hondo: Will do.
Hicks: Gentlemen, let's get to work.
Investigator Lesus: (Sighs) Very well.
Hicks: The suspects are in lockup. I'll show you there.
(With that, Hicks leads Investigator Lesus and Officer Azaria towards the suspects, while the remainders of the team head to examine the evidence)
Spyro: Am I the only one getting off vibes from those two? That investigator really rubbed me the wrong way.
Cynder: His attitude certainly needs work. And he's not that good at covering it up.
Deacon: I'm starting to think you two are right. Something seems rotten around all of this.
Hondo: I'm with you. But let's keep it between us for now. We've already got the rest of the team tracking down that van, let's see if the last case leads us anywhere.
(And as the quartet enters the room where Officer Azaria placed the evidence, our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. So, our previous investigator and Internal Affairs representative have arrived. Officer Azaria seems trustworthy, but something about Investigator Lesus strikes me as off. Or is it really that simple? More on that as the story goes on. So, what will the evidence from Christina Summer's disappearance reveal? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
