Like I said, I'll be writing until I get at least one review. Have fun!
"Bob, I'm pregnant."
Silence. No, that didn't sound right.
"Bob, I think I'm pregnant."
What am I, an idiot? Jennifer asked herself. You took like, seven tests, all positive. You think you're pregnant? You think?
"Okay." She grabbed the sink and leaned forward, looking into her own eyes again. The mirror seemed to wait patiently.
"Bob, I'm carrying your child." She said, then grimaced. That sounded wrong, too.
"Bob..." She sighed, then shook her head. There was just simply no way to do this right. "We're going to have a baby."
No, not this one either.
"Bob, I'm pregnant, and I'm keeping it."
That was true, but it might be too much information at first. They were in such a good place right now, the two of them. She really didn't know how to bring this topic up, but she knew she couldn't keep it a secret for long. She couldn't, and she didn't want to.
Right now, it was 7 am, an hour before Bob's shift started. There was no right time or wrong time to break this news, so she thought she'd do it now.
With a deep breath, she walked out of the bathroom and started for the door.
She didn't have to take a long walk, Bob's room was four doors down to theirs.
With an even bigger sigh, she stood in front of the door, and with her eyes closed, she once again repeated in her mind what she was going to say. Finally, she nodded and knocked twice. Soon enough, the door opened.
"Jen!" Bob was wearing a white V-neck and boxers, his eyes lighting up at his girlfriend's sight. "What are you doing here so early?" He leaned forward for a kiss, and Jennifer happily gifted him with a deep, generous one.
"Well, I thought I'd surprise you." She smiled, cracking her knuckles nervously. "I also have to tell you something."
Bob looked at her expectantly, but she wasn't ready yet.
"You might wanna sit down." She said, and Bob, without thinking, stepped aside and gestured to his small living room. Jennifer took a few steps inside, and that's when it happened.
Within a moment, nausea hit her out of nowhere. Panicking, she looked around and her gaze quickly found the open bathroom.
"Jen?" Asked Bob worriedly.
"I'm sorry, Bob-" That's as far as she got before running into the bathroom, collapsing on the ground and vomiting into the toilet, coughing and wheezing.
"Jen!" Bob was immediately by her side, holding her hair back and rubbing her back. "It's okay, let it out."
Just as Jennifer thought it was over, she threw up over and over again, before nothing remained in her stomach.
"It's okay." Said Bob, but Jennifer looked up at him.
"No, Bob, you don't understand-"
"I'll get you a towel-"
"No, Bob, look at me, please!" She reached for his hand and he obliged, looking at her cautiously.
Jennifer took a deep breath, her voice breaking as she spoke up, a single tear rolling down her cheek.
"Bob, I'm pregnant."
A few minutes later, they were sitting at Bob's dinner table - Bob was leaning over the table, his face in his hands, and Jennifer was biting her lip so hard she could feel blood in her mouth.
"Well, say something, Bob!" Said Jennifer once she lost her patience.
Bob sighed, rubbing his face with his hands, looking up at her.
"I don't know, Jen, I..." His voice was quiet and low. "I don't... I don't know what to say right now."
Jennifer nodded, leaning against her chair. That was exactly the kind of response she was expecting.
"And what am I supposed to say, Bob, huh?" She asked him in the same voice as his, looking into his eyes. "What am I supposed to say? I'm a single mom to five kids, about to be six. What am I supposed to say?"
Buddha Bob opened his mouth, but Jennifer cut him off.
"You know, this is exactly what's wrong with men today. They fuck a woman without a condom and then they're like "ooh, I don't know what to say"... well let me tell you something Bob, from now on this is none of your business. This is my baby, and I'm keeping it. Goodbye."
She stood up swiftly, but Bob grabbed her arm.
"Wait, wait, wait, Jen! Jen!" He managed to stop her, looking into her eyes desperately. "You didn't let me speak, for Christ's sake! Can I say something? Please?"
Jennifer sighed, then looked at Bob.
"Make it quick. I don't have all day."
Actually, she had all day, but Bob didn't need to know that.
"Obviously, Jen, this is..." Now it was Bob's turn to sigh. "A big surprise. I mean, I know we didn't use protection the first time, but I didn't think that..." He shook his head. "Jen, I just didn't think we'd end up here."
Jennifer gulped, then nodded.
"Neither did I." She agreed, staring at the ground.
"But know this." Bob stood up and stroked her cheek, making her heart melt. "I'll be here for the both of you, no matter what happens. This might be too early of me to say, but I love you." Jennifer wanted to say something, clearly shocked, but he shushed her. "It's okay, you don't have to say it back. I just... I always wanted to be a dad one day, and now you're... oh my God, Jen, we're going to be parents!" He started sobbing, he couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Oh, Bob." Jennifer hugged him tightly, feeling his body tremble. "I hope these aren't tears of remorse..."
"Of course not, of course not!" Bob gently pushed Jennifer away, using his sleeve to wipe his tears. "I've never been happier in my life!" He leaned in for a kiss but Jennifer put her index finger on his lips.
"I just threw up, like, three times, remember?"
Bob chuckled and nodded.
"Let me use the bathroom, I'll be back in a second."
Bob let her walk away, leaning against the wall. He wasn't a believer, but now he sent a small prayer on its way.
Please God, let me take care of her forever.
"Huh."
Katie squirmed under Kendall's arm. They were watching TV, cuddled up under a blanket when Katie's phone dinged.
"What's up?" Asked Kendall, taking his eyes off the screen.
"EFM at 6." Said Katie, showing the message to his brother.
"Hold on a second." Kendall reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone, which was on silent. He got the same message from their mom.
"Yeah, same here." He nodded. "I wonder what that's about."
"Yeah, me too."
"Me too." Said James, Logan, and Carlos at the same time as they walked into 2J, holding up their phone.
Kendall and Katie looked at each other.
"I mean... we're all family, I guess, right?" Katie asked, and everyone nodded. "But still. Mom never calls emergency family meetings. Something's going on."
"Definitely." Said Kendall while the others joined them on the couch.
"I don't think there's anything to worry about." Said James, scratching his chin. "She's probably just gonna anounce that she and Buddha Bob are officially together, you know?"
"That's not an emergency, genius." Logan retorted.
"I don't know then." James shrugged looking at the others. "What do you think?"
"Well..." Said Carlos. "We might have ran out of frozen corn dogs."
"Oh come on, Carlos!" Kendall threw a pillow at him, and the others followed suit. "That's a stupid idea, even from you."
"Okay, you all think you're sooo smart. So, Logan?" Carlos asked. "What do you think's going on?"
Logan shrugged, looking at the others.
"How am I supposed to know? None of us are. It's an emergency. We'll all know it in..." He looked at his watch. "3-ish minutes."
2J's door opened and Jennifer stepped in, Bob hot in her heels. They froze when they saw everyone together, looking at each other.
"Hey Mom!" Katie chirped, then frowned. "Not to be rude or anything, but what's Buddha Bob's doing at our emergency family meeting?" Jennifer and Bob shared a look, and Katie's eyes widened. "Oh, tell me you're not getting married again." They shared another look, and Katie held her hands up. "No offense, Buddha Bob, but that would be way too soon."
Bob sighed.
"No, Katie, I'm not marrying your mom." He said, and Katie sighed in relief. "We have... um... other news, which is... um... Jen?"
Jennifer looked at the ground, and Bob could see her hand shaking. He quickly grabbed it, and looked at his children, all five of them. Before she could speak, she saw the kids look at each other.
"Wait a second..." Said Kendall, and the boys and Katie once again shared a look a disbelief. Then they asked, in unison:
"Are you pregnant?!"
The tension in the air could have been cut with a knife.
Jennifer scratched her head, then spread her hands out.
"Surprise?" She said with an awkward smile, matching Bob's one. "Yeah, guys, we're having a baby. I don't know how you feel about that, but... yeah. It just sort of... happened, and I'm... we're... we're keeping it."
The kids looked at each other, speechless. Then, everyone started talking at the same time.
"Kids, kids..." Jennifer tried, but her voice couldn't be heard over all the commotion. She looked at Bob for help, who took a deep sigh, then raised his hands.
"Quiet!" His hands made the loudest clap Jennifer's ever heard, and everyone screamed at the noise, then quieted down.
"You're pregnant?" Katie asked, looking at her, then Bob. "How far are you?"
Jennifer looked at Bob, trying to think.
"Six weeks, maybe?" Bob nodded, as did Jennifer. "Look, guys, you won't have anything to do with the baby. Bob and I are going to handle everything-"
"Wait!" Kendall interrupted, confused. "What do you mean? It's our sibling!" He looked at the guys and Katie. "All of ours!" The boys looked at Kendall touched. "We're all going to have to do something with her! Or you know... him. Why wouldn't we?"
Jennifer once again looked at Bob, who just shrugged.
"Well, we just don't want to put any responsibilities on you guys."
"When did this happen?" Asked James, and Katie looked at him like he'd just grown two head.
"Six weeks ago, genius, she just told us!"
"Wait!" Carlos chimed in, gazing at the boys. "Wasn't that the day we all tried jungle juice?"
"Carlos!" They all shouted at him in unison, except for Katie, who just simply slapped her forehead.
"You guys did what?" Jennifer asked, and she was back to mom mode immediately. "Oh boys, you are SO grounded! All of you!"
"Oh come on Mom, we drank a little alcohol, you made a baby! We're not the ones in trouble here!"
"Kendall Donald Knight!" Jennifer thundered. "Don't you dare speak to me that way! Especially after you lied to me! I knew you were hungover!"
Kendall looked down at the ground, biting down on his lip.
"I'm happy!" Said Carlos grinning, soon in the crossfire in another few pillows. "What?" He asked.
"Obviously..." Logan chimed in. "I think I'm speaking for all of us when I say that... we're here for you, Mrs. Knight." He looked at the guys. "Right guys?"
"Yeah."
"Of course."
"Why wouldn't we?"
The boys and Katie stood up at the same time and walked up to Jennifer, who had tears in her eyes.
"We're here for you, Mom." Katie hugged her mother and she squeezed her tight, not letting go.
"Yeah, mom, we're all here." Kendall joined the hug, feeling the guys wrap their arms around the three of them. "We're all here for you."
~ 2 weeks later
Jennifer flinched as the doctor put cold gel on her belly, remembering the times they did this with Kent. Now it was Bob who was by her side, squeezing her hand tight.
"Alright, Mrs. Knight, relax..." The doctor started the exam and Jennifer held her breath, looking at Bob. He smiled at her encouragingly, then suddenly went pale as he looked at the screen.
"What?" She asked nearly panicking, looking at the doctor. "What is it, Dr. Manning?"
"Congratulations, Mom and Dad!" She smiled at them, and turned the screen towards Jennifer. "You're having twins!"
