(What happened in England? Who Cares?)
Bladebloody the goblin explained the new facts of life to Dumbledore: "Sirius Black is alive. He was brought back through the Veil by a postal owl, now phoenix. Alive Sirius Black sold Black Manor to us. We took possession, evicted the non-renting tenants"—Order of the Phoenix members—"and put up a new Fidelius. By now I'm sure you've noticed that you can't remember where Black Manor is?" Bladebloody the goblin was grinning cruelly at Dumbledore.
"I need to talk to Sirius now!"
"So sorry, but both Sirius Black and another Gringotts client drained all their vaults and handed back their keys. As Sirius Black and the other wizard no longer are clients of Gringotts London, Gringotts London does not know or care whether those two wizards are living in a cave in Britain or are living in a palace in Shangri-La."
By the time Dumbledore returned to the headmaster's office at Hogwarts, he had realized that the unnamed "other wizard" with Sirius had to be Harry. So, Dumbledore put his doodads to work to find Harry. Except—all the doodads were dead. The reason became clear when Dumbledore examined them. Until last week, each doodad had been smeared somewhere with Harry's blood; but today each doodad was bloodless.
Dumbledore's next idea was to write brief notes to Sirius and to Harry. Both letters contained the usual sanctimonious blather, but each letter also had a tracking charm. But when Dumbledore ordered Fawkes to deliver the letters to Sirius and to Harry, Fawkes just sat on his perch and stared at Dumbledore. Dumbledore next ordered Fawkes to take him to Sirius. Fawkes did not move. Dumbledore ordered Fawkes to flame out and to bring Sirius here. Fawkes did not move.
A week later, Dumbledore still had no clue where Sirius and Harry were. Worse, Minerva had received a letter, through Hogwarts's post-office box, from the angry Granger parents. According to the letter, Sirius and Harry had "left England," and Hermione had gone with them.
As for Voldemort, he conquered Wizarding Britain, because the only boy who supposedly could defeat him, had left. Voldemort personally killed Dumbledore. But the next day, a bunch of men and women with wands, who wore funny Muggle clothing and who took the Queen's shilling, conquered Voldemort. Immediately afterwards, Magical Britain lost its autonomy, by order of the Queen. Soon after this, marked Death Eaters lost their lives—again, by order of the Queen.
As for Dumbledore, in the last ten minutes of his life, he had an epiphany. The Prophecy said that Harry Potter could defeat the Dark Lord in a fight, not that Harry would choose to fight the Dark Lord and to defeat him. Because of Dumbledore himself, the only people whom Harry would fight for were dead or were outside England with him. There was nothing for Harry in Wizarding Britain, so the boy had left—and it was all Dumbledore's fault.
