A/N: Hello, everyone! Sorry that this isn't a new chapter for the story itself. I wanted to post something as an apology for not posting a chapter on Thursday/Friday like I said (Note to self, no more attempts at scheduling an upload for me.)
I know nobody said anything to the Semblance feat back on the rules chapter but, much like with Aura, I didn't think it very well put together at the time. It actually took to me coming up with an example for the revised version for it to click together for me. (Speaking of which, should I edit and delete the original versions of these feats on the Rules chapter, now that I have these newer, better versions?)
By the way, a big part of both feats is the concept of High Risk, High Reward. So long as one's Aura is activated and being used, the PC gains various buffs, but as soon as they over use it, or it's Shattered, they take a massive debuff.
Anyway, hope you like it. Tell me what you think about it and if I need to fix/improve anything.
Also, that chapter that I'm writing should be finished before the end of today.
RWBY DnD Expanded Rules
Part 2
Semblance
(Special Trait) Semblance: At level 5, a Character can choose to Awaken their Semblance, so long as they have had their Aura may unlocked.
A Semblance requires Aura to be activated and uses Aura to work. If a character runs out of Aura they cannot use their Semblance. If a character runs out of Aura while using their Semblance, their Aura considered Shattered and they face the same effects as if their Aura was broken by an attack.
At level 6 a character's Semblance automatically Evolves into a stronger form.
Every two levels after the 6th level, a character may roll a d10 die. On a Ten, their Semblance Evolves, growing stronger in some way. On a 1, they take 1d6 Psychic damage from the backlash and must wait a full week before trying again.
They can do this as many times as they like in another ten minute Ritual until they succeed and their Semblance Evolves, but once they succeed, they must wait another two levels to try and Evolve their Semblance even further.
A Semblance works to bolster a character in some way much a spell would. This can be anything from acting like the Haste spell to providing healing of some type to the either character or those around them. A Semblance may provide the benefits of the Luck feat or even all a character to automatically succeed on an Attack roll.
The initial Semblance is basic, either granting a change to movement, skill, or attack or acting like a feat. As the Semblance Evolves it can either grant further bonuses to the same ability or grant an additional effect of the same type.
An Example, Ruby unlocks her Semblance, Petal Burst, now, once per turn she may now move at double her base speed without dashing. At level 6, she Evolves her Semblance, now instead of mere dashing at a faster rate she can instead dash through an enemy's square, so long as they are within 120ft of her, provoking an Attack of Opportunity as she does so, as a burst of rose petals in a whirlwind-like manner, forcing the enemy to make a Strength check to remain in place or be forced to follow in her wake, where, at the end of her Whirlwind Attack, they either fall prone at Ruby's feet or are shoved past Ruby by an additional 10ft to fall prone instead as per her choosing.
