A/N: Hello, Friends! I got this chapter out before I had to move! Woo! Believe it or not, but it was actually going to be longer. Back when I didn't realize just how long it was going to be. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 3

"Roman," The sergeant in charge started as his men spread out in the room while the trio of cultists stood next the entrance, blocking it off. "Good to see you. Just, here for some questions."

The sergeant glanced around the room.

(Perception check, DC15; Roll Results: 5 + 1 = 6, Failure)

He then turned back and face the proprietor as he asked, "If that's alright with you, of course?"

"But, of course, Sergeant McDonnell. You know how much I love the Authorities." Torchwick said while still keeping that smile on his face, even as he made to subtly tap a code into the Sending Stone at his wrist.

(Persuasion Check, DC20; Roll Result (Roman): 9 + 6 = 15; Failure)

(Sleight of Hand Check, Roll Result: (Roman) 15 + 9 = 24; Perception Check, Roll Result (Sergeant), Roll Result: 8 + 3 = 11, Roman Succeeds)

McDonnell frowned at his words but failed to notice the code he subtly tapped. He motioned two of him men over even as the other two stood at the corner of the store, looking over the shelves to watch the man they were investigating, while one of the three cultists started forwards, towards the counter himself.

"Roman," McDonnell then said. "Let's not jerk each other around here. You know why we're here. Tell us what you know about the fugitives, and, we'll let you go." He held up a wanted poster of a very familiar looking girl in a hood and cloak. The he shrugged before saying casually, "Otherwise, well, I'd rather not discuss something so unpleasant in such polite company."

(Intimidation Check, DC15 Roll Result (Sergeant): 4 + 2 = 6; Failure)

Roman erupted into laughter at the intimidation tactic, leaning against the counter and subtly pulling one of the beads from the necklace he wore under his ascot.

(Sleight of Hand Check, Roll Result: (Roman) 9 + 9 = 18; Perception Check, Roll Result (Sergeant), Roll Result: 13 + 3 = 16, Roman Succeeds)

He continued to chuckle as he stood back up and wiped at his eyes.

"Ah, that's funny, Sergeant." He said with a sigh and a chuckle before leering at him wickedly as he raised a hand and said as he snapped his fingers, "But, you're right. I think it's time we ended this farce, too."

Then he tossed the bead at the man's feet with a muttered incantation just as

(Dexterity Save, DC15; Roll Results: Guard (Sergeant) 1, Guards 12 + 1 = 13, 8 + 1 = 9, Cultist 5 + 1 = 6; Three Failures, One Critical Failure)

(Dexterity Save, DC15; Roll Result (Roman): 8 + 3 + 2 (Half Cover) + 2 (Aura) = 15; Succeeds) (Oh, no. Uh, next time might need to remember that Everybody in the sphere takes damage, save or no save. And, yes, Roman could've used Evasion to zilch the damage entirely, if he had thought about what he was doing. He didn't. And neither did I, so…)

(Roll for Damage, Fireball Spell (3rd level): 6 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 31 points of damage to both Guards and Cultist and 62 points of damage to Sergeant (Critical Failure), 15 points of damage to Roman, 8 to Aura Pool and 7 HP)

With a sudden flash of light a massive explosion erupted right at McDonnell's feet. He didn't even have time to scream as his body was torn asunder from the explosion, even as the two guards next to him and the cultist coming up behind them all burst into flames and died as their bodies were flung away.

Roman hissed with pain as the edge of the blast just barely struck him from behind the wooden counter. He was shoved backwards, skidding along the wooden floor boards, just barely keeping his hat on his head as he did so.

(Roll to Attack (Neo) (Sneak Attack, with Advantage): 4 + 12 = 16, 14 + 12 = 26; Guard AC 16; Roll Result: Success)

(Roll for Damage, 4 + 8 = 12, plus 4 + 4 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 14 (Sneak Attack damage) for 26 points of damage) (And, even in this story, Neo is still a very scary bad-ass.)

He grunted as he used his cane to get back to his feet just as one of the two remaining guards suddenly fell over, blood splurting from his newly severed neck. He grinned at that even as the shelves of his store were burning now. Then he started chuckling evilly before bursting into a full on belly laugh as the one remaining guard and the two other cultists finally recovered from the surprise attack.

(Roll for Initiative, (Roman) 5 + 3 + 2 (Aura Class Bonus), (Neo) 19 + 5 + 2 (Aura Class Bonus); Roll Result: 10 and 26 )

(Initiative Roll, Guard: 7 + 1, Cultists (2 members): 10, 12 with a +1 their Initiative; Roll Result: 8, 11 and 13)

(Initiative Order: Neo 26, Cultist 13, Cultist 11, Roman 10, and Guard 8)

Finally, Roman stopped laughing and took his cane in hand, twirling it, as he said, "Alright, boys! What are you waiting for? Let's have at it then!"

/ /

Outside the store,

Mere moments earlier…

Two heavily armed and armored Cultist stood outside the shoddy store's entrance. They both bore breastplates, helms and glaives, though the helms were attached to their belts right now, and looked to be truly bored to be there. So bored were they, in fact, that they never noticed the pair of figures appear on the roof opposite of them, or the shadow off to their left down a narrow, nearly invisible alleyway.

Distantly, muffled through the fabric covering it, the figures, and the shadow below, heard Roman speaking through the Sending Stone, "But, you're right. I think it's time we end this farce, too."

The figures on top of the roof each notched a pair of arrows to their Black Longbows and aimed for the cultist enforcers below. Then they waited, knowing how dramatic their boss could be.

Snap!

At the sound of a finger snapping, they loosed their arrows.

(Roll to Attack (Thief 1) (Sneak Attack): 13 + 4, 6 + 4 (+ 1 for Black Longbow for both) = 18, 11; Cultist Enforcer AC 16, Roll Results: One Success, One Failure)

(Roll for Damage, 4 + 1 + 2, (Additional + 1 for Black Longbow) = 8 plus 4 (Sneak Attack damage) for 12 points of damage)

(Roll to Attack (Thief 2) (Sneak Attack): 11 + 4, 14 + 4 (+ 1 for Black Longbow for both) = 16, 19; Cultist Enforcer AC 16, Roll Results: Two Successes)

(Roll for Damage, 4 + 5 + 2, 7 + 8 + 2 (Additional + 1 for Black Longbow for both) = 12, 18 plus 4 (Sneak Attack Damage) for a combined 34 points of damage)

(Roll to Attack (Thug) (Sneak Attack): 4 + 2 = 6; Cultist Enforcer AC 16, Roll Results: Failure)

As a muffled Fumpth! went off within the building the two enforcers were struck by a small volley of arrows. One grunted as a pair of arrows struck it in the torso, penetrating its breastplate, before jerking backwards into the wall behind it and falling over dead. The other hissed in pain as an arrow struck it in the shoulder where it wasn't armored and flinched in pain, narrowly avoiding a second arrow.

Neither noticed the sole heavy crossbow bolt that imbedded on the door frame between the two.

The single enforcer snarled as he clutched at his wound before looking around for his attackers, he quickly found the two up on the roof across from him. He then roared out, "Assassins!" before taking the helm attached at his side and donned it.

He heard noises from inside and knew instantly that he was on his own. He snarled again before shifting to block the door, and roared once more, "Come on then, Heretics! Come, and face one of the Goddess's Favored Ones! HHaaahh!"

(Gained +2 to AC for Iron Helm)

(Roll for Initiative, Cultist (Enforcer) 18 + 2 = 20, Thief (1) 12 + 2 = 14, Thief (2) 16 + 2 = 18, Thug 13)

(Initiative Order Cultist (Enforcer) 20, Thief (2) 18, Thief (1) 14, and Thug 13)

The enforcer looked around as he realized just how out classed he currently was as he finally noticed the thug hiding out in the alley way. He snarled again before throwing a dagger towards the man.

(Roll to Attack, Cultist (Enforcer): 5 + 4 = 9; Thug AC 11 + 5 (Three Quarter Cover) = 16; Roll Result: Failure)

The dagger spun end over end only to bounce off the wall next to the thug as he was reloading the heavy crossbow he had. The thug ignored just like the enforcer did. Instead, the enforcer turned to the door in front of him and swung his glaive at it.

(Roll to Attack, Cultist (Enforcer): 3 + 4 = 7, Door AC 10; Roll Result:Failure)

The cultist snarled as the blade bounced off the shoddy wooden door without doing any damage.

(Roll to Attack (Thief 2): 10 + 4, 17 + 4 (+ 1 for Black Longbow for both) = 15, 22; Cultist Enforcer AC 18, Roll Results: One Success, One Failure)

(Roll for Damage, 3 + 2, (Additional + 1 for Black Longbow) = 7 points of damage)

The enforcer grunted as an arrow slammed into his shoulder from behind even as another bounced off his back.

He turned and looked over his shoulder just as the other thief fired at him.

(Roll to Attack (Thief 1): 16 + 4, 10 + 4 (+ 1 for Black Longbow for both) = 21, 15; Cultist Enforcer AC 18, Roll Results: One Success, One Failure)

(Roll for Damage, 8 + 2 (Additional + 1 for Black Longbow) = 11 points of damage)

The enforcers grunted as once more he was struck by a pair of arrows, one slamming through his armor and the other bouncing off again. He was gasping for breath by then as he collapsed against the door with blood leaking out of his mouth from a punctured lung.

He turned and looked as he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye to find the thug running towards him full tilt with a mace in hand.

He grunted and jerked back to his feet just as his foe got there. He swung with his glaive twice at the man as he came to his feet.

(Roll to Attack (Enforcer): 2 + 4, 7 + 4 = 6, 11; Thug AC 11, Roll Results: One Success, One Failure)

(Roll for Damage, 9 + 2 = 11(+5 Bleeding Damage from Jagged Edge) for 16 points of damage)

The first swing just missed as the criminal came at him, swishing by his face as the man ducked backwards. The second swing, however, struck him across the torso, leaving a line along his chest that suddenly fountained blood as the jagged edge of his glaive tore through the meat of his flesh.

The thug stumbled back a bit at that, clutching at his injury. The enforcer smiled nastily at that before twirling his glaive, ready for the next attack.

That's when the front of the store exploded.

/ /

Back inside the store,

Now…

Roman continued to chuckle to himself as the two Cultist drew their scimitars and daggers and turned to face him even as the lone guard left began looking around for whatever had killed his comrade.

He found nothing.

And the room continued to burn down around them.

(Roll to Attack, Neo (Sneak Attack); 20 + 12, 10 + 12 = 32, 22; Elite Guard AC 18 (Chainmail, Helmet) Roll Results: One Success, One Critical Success)

(Roll for damage (Critical Hit) 1 + 4 + 8 = 13, plus 3 + 3 + 2 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 39 (Sneak Attack Damage) for 52 points of damage)

(Roll for Damage, 3 + 8 = 11 points of damage)

With a sudden flash of silver the last guard fell to his knees and then onto the floor as his head rolled along the ground, decapitated in one swift, savage motion. With just the briefest of flourishes Neo's silhouette faintly appeared, blood splattered on the naked blade of Hush and the shoulder of her invisible jacket, then she fully disappeared again.

The two cultists looked to where the small figure had just been before looking back at Roman then at each other before back to Roman again. They then tightened their defenses and began guarding each other's flank, and waited.

(Teamwork Bonus, + 2 to AC, immune to flanking attacks)

Smoke began to fill the room as the shelves continued to burn down, destroying all the products on them.

(Difficult Terrain, Vision. Disadvantage on Melee/Ranged attacks due to obscured sight)

Roman started coughing as the smoke in the room thickened even more, then he shouted over the flames as he took another Bead of Fireball from his necklace, "Neo! Time to go!"

He then tossed the Bead at the Cultists as he muttered the incantation again.

(Dexterity Save, DC15; Roll Results: Cultist(s) 4 + 1, 4 + 1 = 5, 5; Two Failures)

(Roll for Damage, Fireball Spell (3rd level): 6 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 34 points to both Cultists)

The Fireball once more went off with a Thump!, blasting both cultists to ashes before blowing the front wall outwards in a storm of splinters and fire.

(Dexterity Save, DC20; Roll Results: Thug 4, Cultist (Enforcer) 10 + 2 = 12, Thief (1) 8 + 2 + 5 (Three Quarter Cover Bonus) = 15, Thief (2) 19 + 2 + 5 (Three Quarter Cover Bonus) = 26; Three Failures, one Success)

(Roll For Damage, Burning Shrapnel: 6 + 5 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 33 points of damage (half piercing, half fire) to Thug, Cultist (Enforcer), and Thief (1); Thief (1) uses Evasion to reduce damage to 16 and Thief (2) uses Evasion to reduce half damage to 0)

As the store front exploded outwards both the enforcer and the thug were ripped asundered as burning wooden splinters, some as long as three feet, tore through them and into the walls of the buildings beyond in a massive cone of destruction. The two thieves looking over the edge of the roof they were on, bows at the ready, ducked back just in time to mostly avoid any damage themselves, though one was heavily wounded as a single massive splinter pierced their torso before shooting off into the air.

The other looked back towards where the store was, after quickly bandaging their partner before they could bleed out, and found the store facade just gone, blown away in an instant. And walking out of the new opening, daintily dodging past a few lingering flames as he conversed with someone who wasn't there, was Roman Torchwick, Mistrali Kingpin and Nightmare of Arcadia.

He looked around at all the destruction before he stopped and placed his cane before him. He smiled, chuckling quietly to himself, as various figures started to peek out of the other buildings and from the dizzying maze of alleyways.

After a moment,, he said aloud, almost to himself, "I found that to be just the most delightful of encounters. But, I am afriad that I seemed to have overstayed my welcome here. Pity. And after all that work to set up shop here." He glanced around as he frowned before tapping his cane three times on the ground as he said, "It seems to be a bit Chaotic out there. Let's see if we can't make that worse."

He tapped the ground twice more. "Call in some favors with our representatives among the local street gangs and the Thieves' Guild here. Now seems like th perfect time to make some robberies, what with the Guard being so distracted."

He then turned and left, walking down into one of the more tucked away alley ways. Then he paused and said without looking at anyone, one finger raised, "Oh, yes! Those two, delightfully innocent scamps that came by earlier. I do believe they haven't made their way out of the city yet. See that they do, yes?"

He smirked as he walked into the shadows and muttered to himself, "I have plans for them, after all."

A?N: So, in case anyone wants to know, this was originally to be split into two parts. The first half was Roman and Neo's fight. The second half would be the end of Jaune and Ruby's Journey in the Capitol, but, I decided to split that into two chapters.

Also, and I might be wrong about this, but I couldn't find where Rogues get two attacks at later levels like other Classes-which, seems stupid, seeing as any character can attack with their off hand when dual-wielding-so, I decided to give our Rogues a second attack, cause why not? Not that Roman needed it here, or Neo (She was using her Semblance in case you're wondering how she could remain invisible while attacking. Works like Greater Invisibilty, in that regard.)

anyway, enough ranting. Good night all. Essiter out!
