Ben planned to find a way out of the forest. But he also needed to get other necessities like food and weapons. Who knows how long he will stay in the forest before reaching any civilization. He needs to procure food and water to survive and weapons to protect himself.
A.I Chip pointed at the tree on Ben's left. He went over there and found a backpack filled with equipment. There was a simple camping set, knife, machete, box of jerky, canteen of water and even a compass.
"Good, I have a portable shelter now. This compass will also help me avoid getting lost in the forest." Ben said.
He picked up the backpack that was almost as big as him and placed the knife in his waist. He chewed some jerky before starting his journey. Ben held his machete and used it to remove some obstacles like vines and bushes. He also kept looking around for any danger and food.
He saw a tall mountain in the distance and decided to go there. He need a high point of view to find a way out of this forest. It didn't always work, but it was worth a try. At least he has a destination.
While walking, he found some food along the way like fruits, mushrooms and insects. Luckily, A.I Chip can help him find out which fruits and mushrooms are edible so he won't have to worry about food poisoning. As for insects, he will save them for later after he started a fire.
After a hour Ben reached the foot of the mountain and began to climb it. He kept walking and rests when he got tired. While he rested, he cooked the insects with the small stove that was given to him by the gods. The stove used Lacrima as fuel, so he just needed to turn it on.
"It's really convenient and there's no petrol smell or smoke." Ben said.
He ate some insects and saved the rest for later. He needed to ration his food correctly if he wanted to survive. Then he resumed climbing the mountain and kept resting when he needed to. After 5 hours Ben eventually reached the top.
He looked around to find a way out, but he wasn't able to see any civilization. He spotted a wide sea to the north, a mountainous area to the southwest and a wide forest to the east. Now Ben was at a loss on where to go.
"If I follow the mountain range, I might find civilization. But I can't go west, as it leads to the sea. I doubt there will be a town or village there. The highest possible place is to the east." He said.
Ben decided to go east. He's not sure if his prediction is right, but at the moment it's the best choice. It's almost dark now, so he'll head out in the morning.
Then he walked down the mountain to find a good campsite. He found flat ground and established camp there. He gathered some firewood to keep himself warm tonight. When it was night time, Ben ate some roasted insects before falling asleep.
The next morning...
Ben woke up and had some breakfast before heading to civilization. He walked down the mountain and headed east.
He walked for a few hours and rested every once in a while. In the process, he learned about his magic. It's hard for a modern person like him to understand the concept of magic, but he didn't give up and kept learning.
"So magic is fueled by Ethernano that's stored in a mage's container. Should I imagine it to be a battery?" Ben asked out loud.
He continued to read and then learned more about his Sun Dragon Slayer Magic. Usually a Dragon Slayer is taught their magic by a dragon. However, Ben's Dragon Slayer magic was granted by the gods using the power of a dead dragon. So it can be said he received it from a real dragon thanks to the gods.
He understood the basics of magic after reading for a while. Then he began practicing his magic while walking around to relieve his boredom. It reduced his walking speed, but he didn't really care and continued practicing.
When night fell, he had only walked a quarter of the way he needs to go. Ben proceeded to set up camp and eat while continuing to learn about magic. He became more and more interested as he read through the theory of magic in A.I Chip's database.
It's every 10 year old boy's dream to be able to use cool magic. Ben is no exception, even though he was actually 25 years old, but there will always be a boy in a man's body. Furthermore he is 10 years old now, so he really is a boy. That's why he kept training his magic with simple spells until he ran out of magic power.
"Hmm magic power is MP, huh? How much MP do I have?" Ben asked, looking at the stat screen.
[Name: Ben Cooper
Age: 10
Status: Alive
MP: 1/2225 (225)
Strength (STR): 22 (2)
Agility (AGI): 20
Stamina (STA): 23 (3)
Intelligence (INT): 22 (2)]
"Hmm, my stats have gone up?" Ben said.
[Yes, walking for hours is exercising, especially walking on mountainous terrain like this. Your intelligence increased after you read a lot about magic theory. Your intelligence also affects your magic power. Intelligence and continuous use of magic will raise your capacity. 1 point of INT will raise 100 points of MP, as for results of training, it depends on how hard your training is.]
"Hmm, so that's how it is. It also seems to grow fast. Maybe because it's still early stage. I'm sure it will be harder to raise as the stats get to high points. How else can I raise the stats?" Ben questioned aloud.
[There are some spells or items that can raise someone's stats. However, I don't recommend you using them, as the power you'll get isn't yours. Spells or items also might have side effects, and it can be dangerous.]
"I guess you're right. The best way to grow is through training and gaining your own power." Ben said.
He learned some more about magic and trained his body a little before he went to sleep. He doesn't have a goal yet in this world, but he knows he needs power to survive in this dangerous world. That's why he will keep training and get stronger every day.
For 3 days, Ben kept walking while learning and training. He needed to prepare himself for anything that might happen. Maybe he will encounter some bad guys before reaching civilization, and if he's not ready, he will die again.
During the 3rd day, there was heavy rain fall as he kept walking. Soon it turned into a storm. His tent would have been blown away, so Ben searched for another shelter and came across a big cave. He decided to enter it and wait out the storm.
"Damn, I'm wet. I need to dry off and change my clothes." Ben muttered.
Ben walked deeper into the cave to avoid the wind and splashing water. Then he placed his tent down to block the wind coming from outside. He turned the stove on and changed his clothes. Fortunately his backpack was waterproof, so his clothes were still dry. He then let out a sigh.
"I don't have any firewood with me, so I can only use the stove. But it's too small and won't really warm me up." Ben said.
He checked the cave for any flammable material, but the only thing there was soil. Then Ben noticed a dim light from deep inside the cave. He was curious, so he took his flashlight and went towards it. It will be dangerous if there's a beast inside that would attack him while he was asleep, so he decided to check it out.
Ben held his machete and walked slowly to avoid making any noise. The cave is rather deep, so he needed to walk for a while before reaching the end where the dim light came from. When he arrived, Ben's eyes widened. He is mesmerized by what he's seeing.
"Whoa. So many crystals." Ben gasped.
