A sudden turn. Jojo looked to the door. Book still in hand not daring to move further out of his seat.

"Pucci?"

"I wanted to talk with you. If that's alright?"

"Of course." Jojo began finding eagerness and delight having someone appreciate him again.

He offered Pucci the grand chair beside him. He took it. Hesitantly.

"What did you want to talk about?"

"I wanted to ask you. Um. Do you remember? Remember when you woke up again?"

Jojo took a moment to think. He could remember his past, Erina, Speedwagon, the mask. All of it but his most recent memories of being here, confined in such walls. It was slightly eluding him.

"I don't think so. That's funny."

"If I may, what was it like? To be in the void of death? Is there a heaven?" Pucci leaned in closer. More desperate for answers rather than making sure Jojo was alright discussing such things.

"I don't know. I was on the boat. I closed my eyes. It was like going to sleep. I opened them when-"

Jojo looked down at the book. Pucci still looking at him intently. Staring as Jojo tried to recall when his mind had come back to him.

"Was it when Dio saw my star birthmark? Or when he helped me read again? I don't remember anything before then."

They looked at each other. Pucci gradually returning to his seat. Calming his excitement and wonder.

"I'm sorry I'm not much help."

But Jojo's words were lost to Pucci as he only sat and thought. Pondering on Jojo's words.

"Is Dio awake?" Jojo muttered.

"Oh, no he's resting now. Sun being up and all that." He returned back to spiralling thoughts.

Jojo decided to wait. But how to spend the time? He didn't want to sit and read all day. But with barely anything else to do. And a whole library to explore...

"Before you go."

Jojo looked down at Pucci as he had risen from the comfy confines of the chair.

"Could you write it down for me? Your experience?"

"Sure." At least it was something to do.

Dio lay awake in his coffin. Lid open. The curtains being the only barrier to the sun's poisonous rays. He waited. For something. Jojo? To fall asleep?

The door closed to his room. Silence. He wanted to get up. But laying there, away from his actions was too enticing.

Did Jojo decide to wear those clothes? Did that kiss help him sleep? Of course, it did. Jojo slept through the night. Did he do the right thing? Was bringing Jojo back that good of an idea? He couldn't help but smile as his mind gave him reasons. Reasons that bringing Jojo back was one of the best things he's accomplished.

The way Jojo smiled. His voice. His stance. How gentle he held his hand.

Dio's breaths calmed. Sleep beckoning. Thinking of Jojo as it began to-

Bang!

Dio's eyes snapped open. The smile quickly fading as he bolted up right in his coffin and stared at the door.

And just beyond the door subtle voices spoke, muffled by thick wooden frames.

Dio opened the door. Too impatient and full of rage to listen to the muffles.

He didn't speak. Silence surrounded him. Whatever was mumbling had gone. Only a rather familiar sight lay at is feet.

"Is there anything you need help with?" Jojo sat with Pucci in the library.

Books papers everywhere. Pucci going through several pages of notes and sketches and drawings and -snap-.

His pen broke.

"Can I get you another one?"

Pucci only sighed. "I know why you stay here. It's because of Ice, isn't it?"

Jojo only nodded slightly.

"He passed me in the hall earlier. I know he hasn't taken a shine to you. But maybe you could convince him otherwise."

"I doubt it. Besides, its ok if he doesn't like me. Just as long as he doesn't hurt me. I suppose."

"There's something important you need to know."

Jojo leaned over a little.

"Ice was never Lord Dio's favourite or even considered a friend. Just a convenience for him. To be considered Dio's friend is the highest honour. And ice will never be that."

"Dio's friend?"

"Yes."

"I but it though most if not all of his followers where his friends in some way?"

"Even I know most are merely pawns. That's why I cannot take my friendship with Dio lightly. I'm his friend and must do the best I can to be that friend he needs. I know you'll do the same. Being even more than a friend."

Jojo was somewhat shaken at the realisations. He should've known most of Dio's followers weren't anything special to him. Should've known dio would only keep a close few by his side.

"What do you mean by that? I'm more than his friend."

Pucci swallowed. He put down his pen. Trying not to tera up. "He picked you. He told me."

Jojo gently held Pucci's hand.

"He told me. He loves you. Something he'd never say to anyone even if they were his friend."

Jojo said nothing. Holing his arms out. Pucci hesitantly being wrapped in Jonathan's gentle embrace.

"I'm not jealous!" he blurted. But sank back into Jojo's arms.

"Pucci. I think he still cares about you. Friendship offers its own kind of love. Maybe not romantic but it's there."

"He fell in love with you."

"And you're the bestest friend he could ever ask for. I think that's better than being in love. Because even if his other relationships don't work. He still had you."

"Stop it. But I understand." A moment to compose. "I know why he fell for you. I'm glad it is you."

"I'm glad he found you. I thought it would be hard for him make genuine connections with people. But maybe his humanity hasn't all gone."

"So why bring you back? If he could make friends in the present?" Pucci's tears subsiding as the question invaded his mind.

"Maybe he couldn't let go of me."

"He loved you too much to let you rest? I though he wanted another companion."

"Maybe we should ask him?"

The two smiled at each other. "I don't hate you. For him falling for you."

"I'm just glad we can both be here for him."

"He needs you more than ever. Sleep has been getting rather difficult for him after you were left in the street."

Pucci backed a away little.

"Sorry I don't mean to-"

"It's ok. I forgave him about that. I know why he chose you. It's ok really."

"Maybe we should tidy up."

But the door of the library creaked open as Jojo and Pucci turned to face the squeak.

Dio stood with his hand behind his back. Staring them down.

"You're awake!" Jojo and Pucci giving a small laugh as they spoke in unison.

"I was rudely awakened by this. I believe it is yours."

Dio strode up the two. Eyes only on Jonathan. He reached from behind his back to pull out something that had been lost. Something that somehow existed here. In this moment.

The sword of Luck and Pluck.

Jonathan could only stare at it. First surprise, then slowly his brow went down to a stern look of discomfort.

"Aren't you happy to see it?"

Jojo gently pushed the sword down.

"I'm glad I've seen it again. But I don't need it." He looked to Dio with a smile. "There aren't any vampires I need to slay. Not today."

Dio dropped the sword.

"Are you sure?" He stuttered under baited breath. Not sure where his hesitance and shock had come from.

Jojo only nodded. "I think you and Pucci need to have some time together." He looked to Pucci and offered his hand.

But Pucci ignored it. And leapt into Dio's arms. He returned the sudden hug with ease.

"I'm still here. But please don't forget about your other friends." Jojo patted Dio's shoulder lightly before leaving. Maybe it was time to talk to Ice after all.
