Ben challenged his students to spar with him. Now they are getting ready to fight with Ben who wasn't able to use his left hand. Raul acted as the referee.
Raul looked at both sides and made sure they were ready before starting the sparring match. "Begin!"
The students spread out and surround Ben while preparing their magic. He stood still, not doing anything.
The first one to move was Dan, who shot at Ben with his Bullet Magic. He tilted his body to the left and avoided the bullet. But then a fireball came his way.
Ben could take it because it won't affect him. But he needs to reduce the amount of power he was using to make it fair for his students. So he jumped back to dodge the fireball.
After he jumped back, he heard someone playing a flute and felt a little dizzy. It was Olive's sound magic.
The sound magic really didn't affect Ben, because he is a lot stronger than her. But once again, he needed to reduce the power he was using to make things fair, so they could learn from him.
Ben wasn't able to cover his ears because of his broken left hand. So he tore pieces of cloth off his shirt and jammed them into his ears. This wouldn't block the sound out completely, but it reduced the volume and also the effect on him.
While he did that, the close range fighters attacked him. Mina was already in her dog form, Parka had turned into a muscle man, Felice came forward with a long sword and Yorki ran forward with lightning covered fists.
Ben smiled and assumed a stance. Mina jumped at him and tried to bite him. He just slid back a little and grabbed her front leg. Then Ben lightly tossed her away so he didn't hurt her.
Yorki came up behind him and threw a punch with his right hand. Ben shifted his body to the side to avoid it. Yorki, who had jumped over to him now got in front of Ben, making him a easy target for Ben.
Ben slipped Yorki's legs out from under him and made him fall to the ground. He looked at the other students who just stood silent, making him shake his head.
After Yorki fell, Felice ran forward and swung her long sword down from above. Ben drew his knife and parried the sword to the left. Then Ben kicked Felice in her armor and flung her away.
Parka threw a punch at Ben using his muscular right hand. Ben smirked and threw a punch at Parka. Their punches collided and everyone was surprised to see Parka fly out of the arena.
"H-he is stronger than Parka who has a bigger body." Ron stood at the side, shaking.
"We can't judge him by our standards. Have you forgotten when he used magic last week?" Cya reminded him.
"I thought his magic was the only thing that was strong, not his physical power." Ron said.
"Who cares about that. We need to fight him now. If we want to win, then we need to work together." Gea walked forward, preparing her magic.
The others nod and prepare their magic. Ben smiled upon seeing this, "Will they cooperate better this time around?"
Ben rushed at the students who were preparing their magic. They couldn't make their magic fast and still needed time. He went on the attack before they were able to finish.
Ben almost reached them, but Hans blocked his path. He appeared with 2 clones to confuse him.
Hans and his clones attack Ben from 3 different directions. Ben smirked and launched a 360 degree spin kick. His kick passed through a clone and hit Hans who was in the front.
Hans fell and failed to stop Ben. But he bought enough time for his friends to finish their spells.
The long range attackers aimed at Ben with their magic. The first one was Dito who used his telekinetic magic to immobilize Ben's body.
'It certainly feels heavy, but it's not strong enough.' Ben thought while continuing to run towards the students.
The telekinetic magic wasn't enough to stop Ben, but it was able to slow him down a little. Then before Ben reached them, the students fired their combined magic at him.
The first one to attack was Gea, who used her bubble magic to blind Ben. She made many tiny bubbles and sent them to cover Ben's face.
At least that was the plan as it didn't go very well. The bubbles were pushed down by the telekinetic magic and popped.
This happened because Dito's telekinetic magic was pushing the area around Ben to hold him down. If his control was higher, then he'll be able to just push Ben down, not the area around him.
"Dito, what are you doing?!" Gea reprimanded him.
"I am holding down Ben-nii's body. Your bubbles are too close to his body, so they were pushed down." Dito replied.
When Gea and Dito argued about the incident, the others fire their magic. Ben saw a fireball, water shot and magic bullet head towards him. Now Dito stopped his telekinetic magic so he didn't disturb his friends' magic.
That turned out to be a big mistake because Ben can now move freely. He leaped back to avoid the attacks. The attacks collide and destroy each other.
Ben then went on the attack. He targeted Dito first to prevent any more disturbances. Ben grabbed Dito's hand and threw him out of the arena. Then he did the same thing to Olive because her sound magic will disturb him even if he reduced the effect it had on him.
When Ben threw Olive out of the arena, Yorki lunged at him with lightning-covered fists. Yorki threw a punch at him, which he dodged easily. Ben took this chance to grab Yorki's shirt and throw him out of the arena as well.
Then Ben ran to attack the others. Ron, Gea, Cya, Hans and Dan were knocked out after that. They used their magic to attack and stop him. But nothing worked.
Now only 3 people remained. Mina, Parka and Felice hadn't been knocked out yet. They're close range fighters, so Ben taunted them to attack him together. "Come on, show me your power!"
The 3 attack Ben together. Mina in her dog form, Parka with his muscular body and Felice with her sword and shield. Ben fought them solely with his physical power, and he could easily match them.
Ben took his time fighting them and didn't defeat them too quickly. He needed to give them fighting experience. Ben finally stopped after Felice became exhausted. He finished them off by throwing them out of the arena, just like the others.
"Match finished. Winner: Ben." Raul announced the result.
The students sighed in disappointment after their defeat. They knew Ben was strong, but never expected him to be this strong. He didn't even use magic while sparring with them.
"Ben nii-chan, you said you'd show us how a mage fights. But you didn't even use magic." Ron pointed out.
Ben just smiled and said, "Because I didn't need too."
He then explained that a mage needs to manage their magic power. They need to use a minimum amount to gain the maximum result possible.
"What you need to aim for in a fight is not flashy or strong magic. It is to win. If you can win with simple magic, then use it." Ben told the class.
A mage is someone who uses magic. But it doesn't mean they need to rely solely on their magic. If they can win without it, it's not a problem. Or at least, that's what Ben thought.
"When you become a high-class mage, your jobs will often involve fighting. You might fight with one or many enemies, so you will need to conserve your magic power well. You can't waste it even if you have a way to replenish your magic power. You need to save your magic power for emergencies." Ben explained.
He said this because he almost died before after he ran out of magic power. Luckily he can replenish it by eating moonlight in a desperate situation. But the students can't do it, so he needs to teach them how to save their magic power.
