3 hours after Ben fainted, the ship arrived at the island. It was far away from the mainland, that's why no one has found it before. The island was rather big and it had a wide forest.
Marc woke up and told him that they had arrived. Ben woke up with a pale face, but he felt better because the ship stopped. It didn't shake around again, so Ben's motion sickness had stopped.
Marc helped Ben walk to his car which was located at the back of the ship. They finally arrived and Ben got in his car. He immediately felt a lot better after sitting in the car.
'Phew, I'll never get on a ship again.' Ben thought while driving his car off the ship.
Ben left the island and finally made it onto the island. He exited his car and took a deep breath.
"Land is always the best." Ben happily said.
"Ha ha, so even an S-Class mage has a weakness." The ship's captain said as he walked towards Ben.
"An S-Class mage is still a human. No one is truly omnipotent." He replied.
"I guess you're right. We'll let you do your job, while we patrol the island. You can contact us through a communication lacrima if you need anything." The captain said.
"You can return to the mainland, you know. It might take me several days to fully investigate this island." Ben offered.
"No, we can't do that. If something happens and you can't solve it, then we need to know about it and report it. Of course, we don't want that to happen because a threat that a S-Class mage can't handle must be very dangerous." The captain insisted.
"Hmm, do whatever you like then." Ben replied.
Ben then climbed into his car and left with Bella. They would explore the island by car to cover it faster. Ben kept using his magic sense to detect anything magical around him.
They drive into the forest and look around through the windows. The forest seemed to be normal so far. The creatures here weren't as different as the ones on the mainland.
'Hmm, it will surely go faster if I use the car, but I won't get any detail this way. Maybe I'll walk around after driving the car.' Ben pondered.
Ben drove deeper into the forest because strong creatures usually live there. So far, he only sensed weak magical creatures that normal mages can detect. There weren't any traces of humans on this island, which meant no one came here before.
As they go deeper into the forest, Ben can sense that the creatures are getting stronger. Some creatures are looking at them too and run away because the car looked like a beast to them.
"Using a car to explore the island isn't that effective. I need to explore it on food later." Ben said.
Ben suddenly became alerted after he said that. He sensed creatures with strong magic power coming from the front left direction. He drove there to uncover the source of the magic power.
When he arrived, he saw some brown reptiles with draconian features, minus wings. They look like Wyverns, but they were different from the Wyverns he knew. All Wyverns possessed wings, so these guys are just brown lizards.
"Brown Lizards? I've never heard of this type of lizard in any book that I've read. Are they native to this island? And they live together, very unusual for reptiles." Ben pondered.
He took a picture of these lizards using his lacrima camera. There were around 7 lizards Ben saw right now. These guys are quite strong too and Ben can feel that there close to S-Class.
"They're not as strong as Wyverns, but they're still strong nonetheless. Hmm, if they're the strongest creatures here, then this island isn't that dangerous. But I need to check everything out first." Ben said.
The brown lizards felt Ben's presence, but they didn't do anything. These lizards aren't aggressive, even though they're really strong.
Ben left the brown lizards alone and resumed his exploration. He went deeper into the forest again to search for anything unusual. But Ben didn't find anything before the sky turned dark.
He decided to stop his exploration for the day and rest. Ben lit a fire and set up a camp besides his car and roasted a big piece of meat he brought with him. He gave Bella her milk before they ate together.
They sleep in the car and activate it's defense systems. The car was the safest place for them to sleep in the wilderness like this. There might be some dangerous creatures that are active at night, so they need to be careful.
His hunch was correct because some creatures approached the car. They were drawn to the smell of the meat Ben roasted before. They lurk around Ben's car and try to find the roasted meat.
The creatures start to come out of their hiding place one by one. 5 big, black wolves with a drill horn, a lion-like creature with a black mane and red scales, a dark blue bear with a pair of long fangs, and finally a big bird like an owl with metal wings, a beak and claws.
Ben felt these creature's presence. But he kept silent and only used his lacrima camera to take their pictures. He can sense there individually stronger than the lizards, but they're still no threat to him.
'Low level S-Class creatures. These strong creatures seem to be more active at night than during the day. It seems the competition on this island is fiercer at night.' Ben thought while trying to sense if there are other creatures nearby.
The creatures look at each other and try to intimidate their competitors. Ben just looked at them with amusement and pondered who would win. He had never seen wild beasts like them fight before, so he was curious.
Surprisingly, these creatures aren't fighting, but they attacked Ben's car together. It seems they wanted the meat instead of starting a fight that would kill them. They prioritized their stomachs over domination.
However, Ben's car was protected by several layers of magic shields. The shields were strong because Roubaul was the one who made them. These creatures won't be able to break in even if they worked together.
"Hmm? Morning already?" A sleepy Bella asked. The sounds woke her up from her sleep.
"No, it's still night. That is just the sound of some creatures that are active at night." Ben said while rubbing her head.
Bella nodded and closed her eyes again. Ben activated the soundproof systems of the car to give Bella a chance to sleep. He continued watching the creatures try to break the car's shields.
"You won't be able to break anything, even the first layer. Even I exerted a lot of effort to do that. Gramps' magic item is just that strong." Ben smirked.
As Ben predicted, the creatures can't do anything to the shields. Even after they used their magic, they still couldn't make a dent in the shielding. They just tired themselves out and wasted their energy.
Ben decided to get some sleep and let the creatures do what they want. He just let his lacrima camera record the situation. It would be a good report for his job later.
Ben and Bella sleep while the creatures still try to break in. There was no sound heard from the car because of the soundproof systems. So they can sleep peacefully without any disturbance.
Time passed and morning came. Ben woke up and didn't see any creatures outside. Obviously, they had given up. He forgot about that and stepped out of his car. But the sight around it surprised him.
"What the hell? What happened here?" Ben asked, shocked.
What he saw around the car were patches of flesh and pools of blood. They were scattered on the ground and in the trees around his car. Something happened while he was asleep, but what?
