"Ladies and gentleman, this is looking like a close game between the Brazil and Spain." The International Soccer Championship is underway with it taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A lot of people were gathered for this. They even had the cup with a large ruby shown. The Brazil team had the ball and was going for the goal, but that was when something happened as something broke through to the field.

"RRRRAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!" It looked like a fellow soccer player in a blue uniform, but his body looked like it was made of ice with spikey white hair. This strange monster attacked everything he could until it reached the case. It smashed the case opened with the monster stealing the cup. Looks like it's about to get cold in Brazil.

...

The Gang

"I can't believe we're really in Rio de Janeiro for the International Soccer Finals!" Erza said as she was really excited. "Lucy, I love you for pulling this off!"

"I never knew you were such a soccer fan, Erza." Gray said.

"Are you kidding? When we played soccer in gym, it was more like pinball for her...and she beat the ball against us." Natsu said. "Although, Happy loves we're near a beach and a beach means fish." He said as Happy was really excited about that. As they reached the entrance, they noticed security was really tight.

"Next!" The head of security said as they all went in one at a time.

"Security sure seems tight around here." Lucy said.

"Your jail cell will be even tighter if I find a ruby on you." The head of security said. Sounds like something big is going on other than a soccer game. Once they cleared security, all of them headed straight for the stands. Erza couldn't contain her excitement and wanted to get as close to the field as possible with her friends following. She ran down as she saw the American team out on the field.

"This is awesome!" Erza said.

"Hey, fans. Nice to see some fellow home visitors." Both of them looked to meet two players, one with short blonde hair and another with a brown scissor-cut style.

"Oh my gosh! You're Bradly Heater, the captain!" Erza said.

"That would be me." The blonde one said. "And this here is Brody Keller."

"Hi there. Thanks for coming. Since we're on Brazil's homefield, we need all the support we can get." Brody said. This was an amazing opportunity until Lucy spotted one part of the field being cutoff by security.

"What's that all about?" Lucy asked.

"That's where the trophy was stolen." Bradly said as they were shocked to hear that. "It contained the ruby that once belonged to Pedro Sonmar, once one of the wealthiest man in all of Mexico. It was stolen by the Frozen Freak."

"Frozen Freak?!" Natsu said.

"An ice monster. It just showed up and stole the trophy." Brody said.

"How can there be an ice monster in Brazil?" Gray questioned.

"Well, legend says that the Frozen Freak was once a fellow soccer player." Bradly claimed. "He ended up becoming a victim of a cruel prank where he ended up locked in a freezer. By the time someone found him, it was too late. Now his ghost seems to have returned, but that's not going to stop us from playing the game we love." Sounds like there's a mystery unfolding right before them during a big event. Just then, the game was underway with it being the American team vs. the Brazilian team. The gang were making their way up the stands, but someone had other ideas.

"U.S.A.! U.S.A.!" Someone who was clearly one of the biggest U.S.A. fan they've seen. He even stood on the stairs and waved his own personal flag around.

"I'm guessing you're a big fan for the American team." Natsu humored.

"You got that right. The name is Bobby, and I do anything to help the American team win." That's a little interesting to say given the circumstances. The game was underway with the teams going at each other.

"Get it! Get it!" Erza cheered as loud as she could barely contain her excitement. The finals were starting out good, but they were quickly ruined. The Frozen Freak returned as it entered the field and was causing as much havoc as it could.

"What is that?!" Natsu said.

"That must be the Frozen Freak! We better get down there and help!" Gray said as the gang tried to hurry down to help, but the arrival of the Frozen Fiend has caused a panic. People were running out as fast as they could with the gang practically being shoved out of the stadium.

...

Outside

Everyone hurried out of the stadium when the Frozen Fiend showed up. When the gang got out there, they saw Bradly arguing with someone from the Brazil team.

"You are the reason that this monster is here!"

"How is it my fault?" Bradly questioned.

"You know you could never defeat my team, so you brought this monster to cheat, but all you've done is postpone the inevitable."

"That is ludicrous, but I've heard you were always a sore loser!" Bradly claimed.

"You will never have the trophy, and I will see to it!" The soccer player said before he just stormed off.

"Who was that?" Lucy questioned.

"Emilio Hernandez from right here in Brazil." Erza said. "What he just said is rather interesting. I say we follow him." That sounded good to the gang as they snuck after Emilio.

...

Emilio

The gang followed Emilio to a museum for historians. He went on inside with the gang following after him. What they witnessed was him placing a flower over the painting of someone. When he walked away, the gang went to see who he was paying his respects to.

"Pedro Sonmar. This the man that the ruby in the cup once belonged to." Lucy said.

"He looks kind of like Emilio." Erza said. "Pedro could be his great-grandfather. Emilio must want the ruby that once belonged to his family back."

"But what about our super fan, Bobby? He did say he would do anything to help the American team win." Gray said.

"But weren't they both at the stadium when the Frozen Freak attacked?" Natsu questioned.

"Maybe, but in a large crowd with everyone focused on the game, it's easy to sneak away." Gray said. "I say we split-up and look at our different suspects. Natsu, you and Happy follow Emilio while the rest of us checkout Bobby." They've got another mystery, and this one as big as the athletes.

...

Gray and the Girls

Gray and the girls were checking out the big U.S.A. fan they saw earlier. They were able to find his trailer and went in to investigate. Lucky for them, no one was home. Once they went in, it was certainly the lifestyle of a super fan.

"Eew." Lucy said. "What is it with guys like this not picking up after themselves? Pizza boxes and dirty laundry are everywhere. How can anyone live like this?"

"You should have seen my old man during football season." Gray said. "This might make things a little difficult to a clue."

"Maybe not. I already found something." Erza said as she had a canister of body paint. "Icy blue paint. That's the wrong shade of blue for supporting the American team, but it is the right shade if you support the Frozen Freak."

...

Natsu and Happy

As for Natsu and Happy, they followed Emilio down to the beach and saw him going for a jog. They tried their best to keep up with him, but keeping up with a soccer athlete during a run is really difficult. Natsu and Happy did their best, but they were already out of breath.

"Next time...Gray follows the athlete." Natsu said as he tried and Happy tried to catch their breath. They were going to keep going after him, but they already lost sight of him. "How did we lose him already?" They looked around to see where he could have gone, but that's when trouble started.

"RRRRRAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!" The Frozen Freak showed up again and went straight for the two of them. Natsu and Happy ran in the opposite direction, but they were out of breath and couldn't run anymore. It seemed like the Frozen Fiend was about to catch them, but someone saved them as a soccer ball flew at the Frozen Fiend and hit him right in the head.

"Back off, freak of nature!" Natsu and Happy were saved by Bradly as he kicked another ball at him and was able to chase away the monster. "Are you two okay?" Bradly asked as he tried to help both of them.

"Yeah. Thanks. Weird thing is, after this, I want a frozen treat." Natsu joked.

...

The Gang

"Sounds like it could be either of our suspects." Gray said as the gang regrouped and compared notes back near the entrance of the stadium. "That means we're not any closer as to who the Frozen Freak is."

"Maybe we missed something inside in all that confusion." Erza said. "I say we go back in and see if we can find anything in there." They all liked the sound of that. All five of them headed back into the stadium and tried to find something that could be tied to the monster on the field, but it looks like they were coming up with nothing.

"Anyone find anything?" Gray asked.

"This place is huge that held thousands of people. It's hard to say if we could find anything." Lucy said. Happy looked around himself until he spotted something. It looked like a pair of soccer cleats. When Happy looked up and saw the Frozen Freak standing right there. The monster reached down for him, but Happy asked to wait a moment. He only asked for that so he could let out a sound that alerted the others.

"The Frozen Freak!" Natsu shouted.

"Run for it!" Erza said as they all tried to run for their lives. The Frozen Freak chased after them with them running into the stands. The gang kept on running with them diving into the concession stand. The Frozen Freak came after them, but Natsu and Happy came out and acted like they worked there.

"Can we help you?" Natsu questioned, but the monster could only grunt and groan. "You've got to try some of this stuff. Hot dogs! Hot pretzels! Hot sauce! Hot cheese! Hot pizza!" They kept stuffing that stuff right in the monster's mouth with the monster's mouth burning. He spat all of it out and was really mad now. "I thought all that hot food would melt him."

"He's an ice monster that lives in Brazil! I don't think he melts easily!" Gray said as all of them kept running for it. The gang kept running with the Frozen Freak after them. They all ducked inside one of the locker rooms and shut the door on it with them trying to keep him out.

"Isn't there a penalty box or something we could send him to?" Lucy questioned.

"That's hockey." Erza said. "Thought, I do think he deserves a red card."

"Quick, hide!" Gray said as they all dived aside and tried hiding from the Frozen Freak right when he busted the door down and searched around for them. He tried searching around for the gang, but that was when security showed up.

"We have him now!" The head of security said as they tried to trap him, but the Frozen Freak forced his way through and pushed all of them away with him making a run for it.

"That was close." Natsu said as they all came out of hiding.

"You're telling me." Lucy said as she actually dived in dirty laundry. "I'm going to need a serious shower. You have no idea how many filthy jockstraps are in here." They were all safe now, but Happy found something and was trying to get everyone's attention.

"You find something, Happy?" Natsu said. Security checked it out and it was the cup. "It's the trophy!"

"But look!" Lucy said as she noticed a piece missing. "The ruby is missing!"

"Whose locker is this?" Security asked. Happy pulled out a jersey with the name of the culprit. "Arrest Bradly Heater!"

"Bradly?! This can't be right." Erza said, but the evidence appeared to be against him. "It makes no sense. Why would Bradly do it?"

"Bradly can't be the monster. He saved me and Happy on the beach." Natsu said.

"That must mean someone is framing him." Gray said.

"So, it was Heater the whole time." All of them looked and saw Emilio coming out from hiding. "I knew it. It is too bad because now the American team has no chance of winning." He said doing a lousy job of hiding his joy of it.

"Hmm... What was Emilio doing in here? This room is for the American team." Lucy said.

"Hey... When Happy and I were attacked by the monster, Emilio disappeared." Natsu said.

"I think this is all starting to come together." Erza said as she was putting the pieces together. "We still need to catch that nasty piece of frostbite."

"The finals are going to restart soon, but I think I know a way we can use that to our advantage." Gray said as he had a plan.

...

The Finals

"The finals is starting up again with Bradly Heater still in the game!" The game was starting up again, but that's only what the gang wanted the monster to believe. Bradly wasn't even in the game, but Gray disguised as Bradly was. He just needed it to make it look the game was going on until the Frozen Freak showed up. It sure looked convincing as the fan were there including Bobby being a fanatic for his favorite team.

"Keep your eyes open for the Frozen Freak." Lucy said as the others looked around the entrances for the Frozen Freak to show. They didn't have to wait long as the Frozen Freak came out and charged straight for Gray thinking he was Bradly.

"Now!" Gray called as he tossed off the wig. Erza, Natsu, and Lucy tried using shirt cannons and fired some ammo right at him to try and distract him. While they were doing that, Happy was trying to get the basket of soccer balls open, but it was locked down nice and tight. "Happy, hurry!" Gray called as they were running out of ammo. Happy kept trying to get the lock open, but lost his grip and ended falling on the soccer ball. Happy rolled around on it and tried balancing himself. As the Frozen Freak tried running around on the stage, he knocked Happy off and lost his balance as the Frozen Freak crashed against the ground. Once that happened, they all gathered around him.

"Not our plan, but it worked." Natsu said.

"And look. They're letting Bradly go." Lucy said as they saw the authorities were releasing Bradly since he couldn't have been the one that stole the trophy. "Now, who is the Frozen Freak?"

"It's got to be Emilio." Natsu said.

"Que?! You think it was me?!" Emilio showed himself and showed he wasn't the monster either.

"What?! If it's not him, who is it?" Natsu said. That was when Erza showed up with a barrel of sports drink.

"I know this is typically done in celebration, but it works." Erza said as she dumped the barrel right on the monster with the body paint washing away to show his real face.

"Brody?!" Everyone said in shock. Lucy took a look at something else and found something in his costume.

"Look! He's got the ruby!" Lucy said as she pulled it out.

"But why would a member of my own team frame me?!" Bradly asked.

"I knew the American team were afraid to lose to us!" Emilio said.

"Not quite. The ruby just nice added bonus." Erza said. "What Brody really wanted was to get Bradly kicked off the team so he could become the captain himself. He placed the trophy in Bradly's locker to make it look like he did it. Stealing the ruby was just him being greedy."

"But what about the paint we found in Bobby's trailer?" Gray questioned.

"A devoted fan like Bobby probably bought that because Brody asked him to without question, and a superstar using it meant there was some value on it now." Erza said.

"And Emilio would have been the perfect guy to throw us off the trail." Lucy said. "Emilio obviously despised Bradly and he wanted to win back the ruby that belonged to his family. That still doesn't explain what you were doing in the locker room in the first place, Emilio."

"Well, you are right about a couple things. I was doing the same as you: investigating." Emilio claimed. "I was sure the American team had something to do with this. I was looking for proof. You were right for I did want to get that ruby back, but I would never resort to such tactics like this."

"If it weren't for you meddling fans, I could have had it all." Brody said as the authorities were taking him away. That means there was only one thing left. It was game time.

...

The Real Game

Now that the Frozen Freak was caught, the game could resume. It looked like it was going to be a close one, but Bradly was back in the game and had the ball. Emilio tried to swipe it, but Bradly kicked the ball in the air and was still going. Bradly gave it one good kick and it was...

"Goal!"

"It's over and done! The American team has won the International Soccer Finals!" The gang and the rest of the audience cheered. Erza even joined Bobby in the celebration the best way super fans could. There were fireworks and confetti. "Bradly managed to get back in the game and make the winning shot fair and square! All thanks to those meddling kids!" Bradly kicked the ball in celebration and it was heading right to where the gang was. Happy caught it with him taking the winning ball. How about that? A cat stopped an athletic kick. Either way, it was one heck of a game.
