Adrien narrowed his eyes as he watched Marinette ponder her next move on the chessboard. First, Felix had beaten him this morning, and now it looked like Marinette was going to win.
Until Adrien's phone went off that is. "Hey, Nino. No, we're together but just playing a game. Yeah, cool. We'll be over in a bit. Thanks!" "What's up?" "Nino and Alya asked if we could help set up and clean the haunted house party their having this weekend." "While I think this is a sneaky way to get out of losing," Marinette teased playfully, "it sounds like fun."
"Are you sure this is the right address?" Adrien gulped. "Yep, this is the address Alya texted me. Why?" "I didn't think it would be this spooky." Marinette rolled her eyes. "Love, its a haunted house. Its supposed to be spooky." "I like your pink bedroom better." "Come on."
"Thanks for coming, guys. Nino and I have been working on cleaning and decorating down here, but we still need someone to do upstairs." "What needs to be done?" Marinette asked. "The windows in the big room are filthy and then we need to stick stickers on the windows and set up the tables and chairs." "We're on it," Marinette said, taking the list.
"Why did we agree to this?" Adrien moaned as they climbed the stairs to the second level. "Because Nino and Alya are our friends, and this will be a awesome party. Ugh, your hand is sweaty!" "That's because I'm scared!" "Your scared of the vacuum! You do your the reason for getting the floor vacuum right? Mom and Dad got tired of you cataylsming the vacuum!"
"Hey, you'd be scared too if you thought your tail was going to be sucked up in the Vacuum of Doom." "I still don't understand why you didn't take theater last semester. You are so dramatic!"
Marinette took charge of the room quickly. "I'll wash the windows and you can dry. Then we'll both work on stickers."
Adrien settled down as he followed Marinette around the room, carrying the pail of water and rags. "I like how the sunlight streams in. Its warm enough you could even take a snooze-Eek!"
"What is it now?" Adrien pointed with a shaky finger. "S-spider! Run!" "Aw, its kinda cute!" Marinette let into her hands. "How could you handle that monster?" "I'm Ladybug, its a distant cousin!" "Peace, I'm out, and Claws Out!"
"Wait, I thought this was just a rubber spider. Oh my Kwamis, its real! Retreat" Marinette tossed the spider and grabbed Adrien's hand and they thundered down the stairs. "Dudes! What's up?" Nino asked as he set the apples on the table. "S-spider! Scary!"
"Okay, you two. You can set up for apple bobbing down here while we take care of the spider." "Finally, a safer job," Adrien said, when he had gotten his breath back. "But aren't apples a little boring? They should bob for rubber ducks!"
"No, no ducks! Behave!" Adrien sighed. "Yes, Bugaboo."
After around three hours, even Adrien had to admit the place looked great! "You two coming this weekend?" Alya asked as the four friends went for hot chocolate. "Of course," Marinette told her. "Just keep us away from the spiders!"
