"Cat, follow me!" Ladybug yelled above the pounding rain. Cat did as he was told, using his baton to pry up the manhole cover and followed Ladybug down into the sewers. "Wow, the rain came out of nowhere!" she exclaimed, trying wring out her pigtails.
Up above on the surface, little pellets of ice bounced down from the sky. "Looks like we're in for a ice storm, M'lady," Cat told her. The lighting was dim and eerie this far down the passageway, but Ladybug wasn't worried. "Don't worry, I'll have us home in a jiffy and drinking hot cocoa. Lucky Charm!" Ladybug nearly didn't catch the matchstick that was no bigger then a toothpick. "Huh. I was hoping for a lantern or a flashlight. How is a matchstick going to help us?"
Cat used his night vision, and spotted a small oil lamp and canister above in a small crevice. "M'lady, up there!" Ladybug smiled at him, sending his heart thudding. "Here, I'll give you a boost."
Slowly and carefully, Ladybug stepped onto her partner's shoulders, leaning over to the get the lamp. It took a good five minutes, but if they could get the lamp lit, they'd be golden! "It looks like we pour the oil in here, love," Cat muttered, pouring a small amount in. "Now use your match." Ladybug did so carefully and the light caught.
"Great! Now we can see around down here!" Cat played with his leather-belt tail. "Or we could kiss for a bit?" "Later, we can't stay down here forever."
The pair held hands as they walked, and whenever they found a manhole cover try as hard as they might to open it, all of them were frozen shut.
Ladybug came back down, her hands tight on the rungs. It was cold, and the cold made her clumsy, and she tumbled off the ladder, right into the arms of Cat Noir. "Sorry!" she squeaked, as they lay sprawled out. "No worries, love. I'm used to flying through the air at me. But I do think we need to take a break to warm up, and fill our tummies."
Ladybug stared open-mouthed as Cat pushed in a rock, revealing two thermos of hot chocolate plus some cheese and crackers. "Hm, my favorite snack," Ladybug said, snuggling up to her partner. "Shh, Ladybug, listen."
They could faintly hear the rain pattering on the streets up above, while here down below was quiet. Despite them being stuck, it was quite peaceful. "Maybe we got stuck down here for a reason," Ladybug whispered, laying her head on Cat's shoulder and he slipped his hand into hers. "The holiday hustle and bustle will soon be upon us after all." "Kitty?" Cat turned towards her, and she rested her forehead against his. "I'd rather spend everyday with you, then on material things." Cat coughed, covering up a laugh. "I can think of one exception, my love, that being your morning coffee." "Okay, maybe that." She looked up, seeing another cover.
"Cat! This one isn't frozen!" Grinning delightedly, the two friends climbed onto the city streets. But instead of hurrying home, they walked slowly, arms linked under Cat's umbrella.
Being together and loving each other didn't need to be rushed, so they simply took their time.
