"Pleeease, Marinette? I don't want the tickets to be wasted," Alya said, with a stuffy nose over the phone. Alya had gotten two tickets to a mystery house and was going to go with Nino till a wicked cold came over. "Fine. Send 'em over. But I don't know what Adrien's going to say."
A day later, Marinette and Adrien were on a date, walking to the mystery house. "Do you think she meant mystery as in mystery? Or haunted house?" Marinette gulped, reaching for her boyfriend's hand. "I don't mind being scared a little, but if I see anything floating, I'm outta there." "Since when you do you watch scary movies?" Adrien teased her lightly. "You were hiding under the blanket during the last one." "Says the boy that cried during the Lion King." "Hey, it might be a cartoon, but that's still my fellow kitty out there. You would cry too!"
Marinette's phone told her they had arrived, and she gulped looking up at the sky. Why were there three crows sitting on the roof and cawing? "Let's get in quickly," she said.
The ticket-taker scans their tickets as Adrien responded. "At least its warm and cozy in here." Not my idea of cozy, Marinette thought to herself. "Your only saying that, because you hate taking baths if you get stuck out in the rain." "I can't control the weather, Bugaboo. And you hate it when I smell like wet cat."
The first room was a long dark hallway with mirrors, and Marinette clutched Adrien's arm. Adrien, at least for the moment, seemed to be having fun. "Hey, there handsome! Claws Out!" "Be careful! Don't reveal our secret!" "Chill, Bugaboo. And now you have double Cat Noir, which means double fun!" "Or double trouble," she muttered, looking around and quickly transformed herself.
They continued, the mirrors making them tall and short, but one particular mirror had Cat hissing at himself. "What is your problem, oh my!" Ladybug clapped a hand to her mouth. Instead of her spotted suit, she was a red and black spotted butterfly. Cat was a black frog with green eyes and a long tongue. "Yikes, and I thought akuma looked scary," Ladybug giggled. "At least I'm pretty." "Speak for yourself!" Cat wailed. "No one will want this ugly frog. Croak."
"Oh, come here. I know how to break the curse," Ladybug said, turning to kiss a surprised Cat on the lips. "Meow," Cat meowed, then meowed in surprise as a poof of smoke appeared and once again two Cats stood in the mirror.
"Come on, we had our fun at our vanity, now let's go," Ladybug moved on to the next room. "How did you do that though?" Ladybug giggled. "You might be my shining knight in leather, but I can tell you don't read many fairy tales." Cat's eyes narrowed and his tail swished. "That's what you think."
They went from room to room, bantering and joking with each other, but the couple grew silent as they entered the last room. "Ooooooh!" a voice moaned, and Ladybug smiled. "Cat, stop playing tricks, its not Halloween!" "Love, it wasn't me." Ladybug's face paled. "Then who was it?" "I'm not sticking around to find out," Cat said, and they ran down the set of stairs.
"So, how was it?" Alya asked a week later for her cold was all better. "It was um, fun," Adrien told her, his voice cracking with nerves. "Yeah, such a great date. Ha-ha," Marinette grinned weakly. "Oh, was it to scary for you?" "No, of course not! Now, are we getting hot chocolate or what?"
To this day, Ladybug or Cat Noir couldn't tell if what they heard was real or a prop, but one thing's for sure, it will always remain a mystery at the mystery house!
