Chapter 6

With still no sign of the snake's lair, and the sun lowering into the horizon, the four decided to set up camp for the night. Once more Naruto faced the dilemma of either being a heartless monster or sharing a tent with Sasuke. This time the Uchiha didn't offer to sleep outside, he simply looked at him, waiting for Naruto to make up his mind.

The fire's flame calmed to burning embers, and Naruto finally met his gaze. He cleared his throat. "Are you.. umm.. are you ready to go back to the tent..?"

For a brief moment Sasuke let his imagination run wild with images of all the things he could do to him in that tiny shared space. He craved the opportunity to make it a reality. To mount the blonde, to force is way into him, to fuck him hard and fast while he trembled and screamed his name..

Enough. You know that's not going to happen, why get yourself excited for nothing.

Forcing back his pulsing desires, Sasuke nodded. "Yeah."

Naruto noticed the spark in the raven's dark eyes, and shivered. Don't even think about it, Teme.

The two put out the flames, once again the last ones outside, and made their way to the tent. Once they were inside, the memory of what they did last time they crawled into this tent together filled the air.

Naruto found it to be suffocating, while Sasuke relished in it.

He looked over at the nervous blonde. "Naruto..?"

"No."

Sasuke gritted his teeth. "I didn't even say anything."

Naruto laid down on his sleeping bag and turned to face the raven as he did the same. "I know what you're going to say."

Sasuke eyed him, his expression dark and unreadable. "Do you now.."

" I still.. I still don't know how I feel about.. all of this. You can't just-"

Sasuke shifted closer and dropped a hand on the blonde's hip, holding him still. Naruto flinched back at the contact. "Sasuke, I just fucking told you-"

"Please," he whispered in a completely un-Uchiha way, "just one kiss."

Naruto studied him for a moment, but he was difficult to read. I probably shouldn't trust this, but.. He sighed. "Fine. Just one."

Sasuke moved closer, pressing his body flush against the blonde's. Naruto inhaled sharply at the heat radiating from his core, quickly warming his own. Sasuke's grip on him tightened, and he jerked his hip towards him, lining up their pelvises.

"Sa-"

He leaned in and kissed him, cutting off any protest he would have made. His kiss was firm, determined, his lips moving sensually against him. Naruto trembled with a rush of.. something. Something he didn't understand. Something that made him reach out and bury his hand in soft ebony strands, pulling the Uchiha in to deepen the kiss.

Sasuke growled into his mouth and rolled his hips against him, letting the blonde feel his hardening want.

"Hmmmphh!" Naruto tried to pull free of his embrace, alarmed by how fast he was moving, but Sasuke wasn't ready to stop. He rolled on top of him, propping himself up on a forearm. He thrust against the blonde again, fingers digging into his hips as he raised them to meet his own. Naruto jerked his head to the side and gasped.

"Sa-Sasuke, stop!"

He ignored him and kissed his way down the blonde's neck, moving against him. Naruto was alarmed to find that his body was reacting to the contact, his length hardening against Sasuke's.

"Ahhh! Wa-wait.."

"I don't think that's what you really want.." he mumbled against his neck, pressing firmly against him.

Naruto pushed against his chest, trying to put space between them. "Sa-Sasuke.. I-"

"Mmmm.." he raised his head to look down into the blonde's pink-tinged face. "Say my name again."

"Sasuke."

But it wasn't Naruto's voice that said it.

The two froze, horror quickly replacing desire. Naruto stared up at the raven with huge terrified eyes. "Is that-?"

A kunai stabbed through the top of their tent, revealing a thoroughly amused sage, his venomous grin stretching taut across his eerily pale face. "Sasuke.." he purred, "this is quite surprising."

Sasuke quickly moved off the blonde and spun around to face the snake. He activated his sharingan and narrowed blood-red eyes onto his target.

Orochimaru merely smiled at him. "There's no need for that.." he said smoothly, "after all, we are old friends."

Naruto flinched at that, and Orochimaru noticed. "Jinchuriki, you have been quite busy lately. Between training to become a sage and seducing Uchiha, it's any wonder that you'd have time to come looking for me."

Sasuke growled and leapt to his feet, tearing through the opening to face off against the snake. "Leave him out of this."

Orochimaru's eyes shined as he slid his gaze from his once favored body to his newest interest- watching him leap free from the tent to join them. "I can't help it, Sasuke. I find I'm rather curious about the Nine Tails host now. Especially after seeing how you.. respond to him."

Sasuke's mouth curled with disgust. "You won't lay a finger on him."

Orochimaru's tongue slithered out of his mouth and slid across his lips, as he stared at the horrified blonde. "My fingers were not what I had in mind.."

Revulsion rushed through Naruto as rage filled Sasuke's mind. "You sick bastard!!" He lunged at the snake, and struck out at him. I'll kill him. I'll fucking kill him!!

As Sasuke raced into the fight, Naruto dropped to a knee and focused. He could feel life all around him- deep in the soil, in the trees towering above them, in the people near him. He could sense that Kakashi and Sakura were unconscious, but alive, and he borrowed some of their energy as well.

When he rose to his feet again his eyes had taken on an orange hue, the markings on his face dark. Sage mode.

He looked up and found Sasuke and Orochimaru lashing out, blocking blow after blow, jutsus being fired and avoided. He knew Orochimaru was a difficult opponent. He wouldn't leave Sasuke to face him alone.

"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"

The two paused in their fight as a dozen sage Narutos surrounded them. "Ahh- so you have mastered it" Orochimaru's tongue slithered out as he scanned the blondes around him. "How.. enticing."

Sasuke jerked his head over to the original, eye burning with rage. "Stay out of this, Naruto!"

"Shut up, Teme. I'm not leaving you alone with this psycho."

The snake grinned.

"I'd hoped you'd say that." He lunged towards the blonde, cutting down clones as he made his way to the original. Naruto moved fast, avoiding the snake as he pulled two clones to his side. Their hands moved fast and he spun around, a Rasengan Shuriken spinning above him.

"Rasengan!"

Golden eyes widened as fierce chakra curved towards him. He managed to avoid it, but not the clone coming up from beneath his feet. A kunai sliced across his arm, staining his shirt with deep crimson. His eyes narrowed, his grin curdling into something fearsome and cruel.

"Clever."

He opened his mouth wide, revealing a snake lodged deep inside. Naruto couldn't help but stare in horror at his grotesque form before the sage rushed towards him. Sasuke jumped between the two before he could land his mark, his hand raised in front of him.

"Chidori!" Electric chakra flashed in his deep red eyes, his power stronger than it had ever been. Orochimaru redirected his attack towards the raven, ready to meet him head on.

It was also the perfect distraction.

Naruto's concern for Sasuke, and Sasuke's determination to keep him safe from Orochimaru, had led them to make a grave error.

They had forgotten about Kabuto.
