"Cat, are we almost home? I thought we would have been there by now," Ladybug said, holding her partner's arm tightly. She didn't mind being out after dark for patrol, but there had been a false alarm on the darker side of town, where there weren't as many streetlights.

"Don't worry, Bugaboo. Your fearless partner has night vision," Cat told her. "Yeah, my fur-less partner," Ladybug grumbled. "Next thing I know, you'll be hiding under a park bench and I'll have to comfort you." "What was that, love?" "Oh, nothing. What was that?"

Ladybug clutched Cat's arm as a twigged snapped under her foot, and she heard a distant sound in the trees. "Probably just the wind. Meow!"

The sound hooted again! "Cat, this is why we don't take shortcuts!" Ladybug hissed, but Cat was quaking like a leaf. "Come on, we'll hide behind that rock." "Think mouse, think yarn ball, my comfy box…" "What are you doing?" Ladybug whispered. "I'm in my happy place, because this place is very frightening!"

The moon came out behind a cloud, its yellow face staring down towards earth. Normally, Ladybug would have said it was romantic, but not tonight.

"Achoo!" Ladybug jumped about a mile. "Cat, are you trying to scare me out my suit?!" "Sorry," Cat sniffed, wiping at his nose. "I think there's feathers around here. Can ladybugs molt?"

Hoot. Hoot. "Kitty!" "What? Do you have a hankie?" "Love, look in that tree and tell me what you see!" Cat peered upwards into the branches, locking eyes with the owl. "Dinner?" "No, you ball of floof! Its a owl!"

"So, we got scared by a owl. Huh. We've seen a lot of scary things, M'lady, but I think this owl takes the cake!" "No, its my Medusa style hair in the morning, that could turn you to stone. Hm…" "Don't you think about it. You'd miss my charm-meowing presence!"

"Ha! I'd bet on that!" So, the two heroes bantered back the rest of the way back home, embarrassed that they had been scared by an owl!
