Disclaimer: Naruto belongs to Masashi Kishimoto.
A/N: I decided to give Sasunaru month a try in English this year, so here you have it. This is a collection of individual and mostly unrelated drabbles. Both Sasunaru and Narusasu tropes will be included and each chapter will have its own warnings, as well as a tag to specify if it's SN or NS.

Prompt #29: I know your heart and you, mine (-)
Warnings: Break-up, kinda, and mentions long distance relationships.
This is a prelude to days 15 and 25.

"I'm leaving," those words, though pretty much unwavering, were filled with many kinds of emotions.
Sasuke just blinked, unaware of the actual meaning behind them.
"Okay, where are you going? You spending the whole summer there?" the raven had asked, arching an eyebrow so elegantly it was unfair.
Naruto let out a shaking breath, trying to compose himself. This was even harder than he'd thought it'd be. And for the first time in his life, Sasuke seemed genuinely oblivious.
"No, Sas- You don't get it," the blond shook his head and then plopped down on the bench. They were currently in the park just across from Naruto's house, about to graduate from high school. They had agreed to go to the same city, although different universities, so they could share an apartment and start living together. And now all of those plans were about to be thrown out of the window.
"Naruto?" this time, Sasuke's voice sounded stiff, concern coloring it lightly.
He sat down next to him, but the blond wasn't feeling brave enough to look into those two beautiful onyx eyes.
"Jiraiya got a job proposal in America," he said, trying to keep his voice from cracking. "We're moving after I graduate."
"You're moving… to America?"
Naruto lifted his eyes to look at his boyfriend, but Sasuke wasn't looking at him anymore. His gaze was fixated on the grass, hand intertwined on his lap.
"I tried to convince him to let me stay here, but since I'm still a minor, he can't leave me on my own…"
Sasuke was very quiet, but in such an unusual way Naruto started fearing what his reaction would be.
They had been together since they were fourteen, and now, at seventeen, they were always attached by the hip. Feeling hadn't weavered through the years, they had only become stronger, and Naruto didn't know how he'd be able to leave all that behind.
"We're graduating in two months," Sasuke suddenly spoke, voice low.
"Yeah, we are," Naruto said.
And then, Sasuke sighed, a very deep defeated breath escaping his mouth.
"So, are we breaking up then?"
The question was so direct it felt as if someone had punched him in the gut. It made Naruto go pale, stomach filled with dread and panic at the upcoming conversation.
"Wha- No! I… Do you wanna break up with me?" he asked in a small voice, clearly distressed.
"Of course not, you idiot."
Naruto breathed in and let it out, immensely relieved.
"Then why are you even bringing that up?" he spat out, upset at the situation as a whole.
This time, Sasuke did look at him, an unreadable gleam in his eyes.
"You're moving away half across the world, Naruto. How would that work out for us?"
Naruto didn't immediately reply to that.
Yes, it would be difficult. Long distance relationships were doomed to fail, people said, but that wasn't always the case. They loved each other, and distance wouldn't change that, right? They could make it work until they were old enough to make their own decisions about their lives, or until they finished college and could move together. This didn't have to be the end.
"We know each other's hearts, don't we, Sasuke?" Naruto spoke, taking one of his boyfriends hands between his. "I know your heart and you, mine. That won't change. As long as we still care for each other, we'll make it work."
Looking at Sasuke's eyes was like looking into the deepest part of a starless night. It was almost impossible to look away, and Naruto could spend the rest of his life staring at them. But this time, the sad look reflected in those orbs made his stomach churn.
"You think so?"
"I know so. Just trust me on this, alright? I'll find a way to come visit you, or maybe you could visit me there, too. We'll be okay, I promise."
And it was okay, at least for a while, until Sasuke noticed it had been weeks since the last time they spoke. Then weeks turned into months without texting or video calling. They were both busy with their lives, and time kept moving forwards.
It wasn't working anymore, and they were too young or too stupid to try harder. But those feelings, they never wavered. Once they finally realized that, it was too late. They weren't brave enough to be the one who reached out first, thinking the other had already moved one.
Sasuke finished college and started working soon after that, and Naruto's passion and dedication to music made him grow to become one of the most famous stars of the moment. But maybe it was meant to be that way, maybe they needed that time to grow up on their own. Fate would bring them together again, one day.
Their hearts hadn't changed, after all.

A/N: So, I'm already working on a long version of this story. Probably either a single chapter story or a two-shot, but not much longer than that.
