Waking was a pain in the ass. Especially when it came with an incessant beeping in the ear and a clinical smell that aggravated a sensitive nose. Limbs twitching, Inuyasha opened his eyes, cursing lowly when his amber irises were burned by bright light. Blinking, he sat up and found himself inside an unfamiliar room.

It reminded him of a healers hut for some reason. His nose picking up medicines under the chemical smell and to his horror, his fire rat had been removed. All he wore was a modern type of top and pants that he was pretty sure Kagome called a long sleeved tee and sweatpants, the one and only time she attempted to get him into modern clothing.

Noticing wires, and of all things a needle in his arm, Inuyasha swiftly disconnected everything and climbed from bed. From the scent, humans weren't far, including the one called Izuku Midoriya. Strangely he smelled familiar, although he wasn't sure how.

Eyes on the nearby window, he opted for that as an escape route. Less likely to risk running in to anyone and from the beeping the machines made when he detached them, he probably wouldn't be waiting long.

Darting across the room, he shoved open the window and leapt. From the aroma filling his nose, he knew he was still near the forest Kagome had trapped him in and landing with a grunt, Inuyasha aimed for the opposite direction.

Silver hair flying behind him with every jump, his amber eyes locked on what looked like a walled off town. Figuring it would at least be the better option for hiding, until he got everything figured out, the dog demon made his way for it, landing neatly in the centre of several large buildings.

Silence met his ears. There were no cars, no bustling humans, there was nothing. Inuyasha had never seen such a city this empty before and everything just smelled like concrete, dust and chemicals.

Where was everyone?

Picking a random direction, Inuyasha sniffed along the way, but could find nothing living. No humans was a good thing, but this was strange. Whenever a village was empty like this back home, it was either due to a mass wipeout or... a trap.

Speak of the devil, at a sudden noise, Inuyasha spun and gaped at the metal monstrosity that had appeared. A robot...isn't that what Sota had called them, when he'd watched the movie thing on the TV...but this one was huge! Green metal creaked ominously, glowing red eyes latching on Inuyasha.

Target acquired!

"Okay," Aizawa called out his functioning eye roving over his 1-A students. "Since our survival training got interrupted, we're going to do a typical strength test for today. Your objective is to locate and destroy the training robots we have placed throughout the training grounds."

"Aw yeah!" Mina cheers, pumping her fist. "Time to see how far we've come, plus ultra style!"

"PLUS, ULTRA!"

"AIZAWA!"

Heads whipping around, Aizawa and his students watched in confusion as Toshinori hurried toward them. The retired number one hero looking positively rattled.

"I'm in the middle of a class, All Might," Aizawa scolded, "this better be good."

Clutching his chest, sucking down sharp breaths, Toshinori set an irate gaze on Aizawa. "If your phone was on, I wouldn't be here! Our unexpected guest disappeared from the infirmary and went wandering...he's in your active training zone!"

"What?! Shit! Bakugo, Deku! Get in there! I'll shut it down, but it'll take a minute!"

"On it!"

In unison the pair took to the sky and over the wall. Staying airborne, they saw a robot in the distance and headed straight for it. Heart in his throat, Izuku hoped they weren't too late. The robots could kill a civilian easily! Quirk strength meant very little if you weren't trained. Coming in for a landing, they had barely touched down when to their shock something ripped clean through the robot, shattering it to pieces.

"IRON REAVER, SOUL STEALER!"

From the bellow, Izuku and Katsuki realised the blur was Inuyasha! Landing next to them, panting heavily, Inuyasha gripped his left shoulder, blood seeping out between his fingers. Catching sight of his audience, he growled irritably.

"What the hell is this shit?!"

"A training arena, idiot!" Katsuki snarked. "How the hell did you take that thing out! That usually takes three attacking all at once!"

Growling, Inuyasha took a step toward him. Grunting in annoyance when Izuku blocked him. "Enough!" The green haired teen admonished. "Kacchan, we have to get him out of here."

Inuyasha didn't want to go with them, but like he had a choice. He was in a time he didn't fully understand, and they hadn't done anything as such that could be considered a danger. If anything, this whole Quirk thing protected him, they didn't even act like there was something strange about him like humans would have at one time.

"We won't hurt you," Izuku promised him, noticing his reluctance.

"Feh! As if you could!" Inuyasha barked, going for bravado. "Fine…lead the way."

Resisting the urge to blast him, Katsuki stomped off, Izuku and Inuyasha right behind him. Since they didn't encounter any other training robots, Aizawa clearly shut them down. The entirety of 1-A were around them the minute they stepped out.

"He's hurt!"

"Someone get Recovery Girl!"

"Contain yourselves Class 1-A!"

"Would you stop!" Inuyasha bellowed stumbling away from them, ears flat to his head. "I'm fine!"

"You're bleeding," Aizawa argued, nudging between his frantic students. "Quite badly too."

"I don't need healing or any such shit," Inuyasha griped.

"Don't be so disrespectful!"

"Ida, it's fine," Aizawa urged, stopping in front of the fiery teenager. "You need that shoulder looked at. You're lucky my students rescued you."

"Rescued me?!" Inuyasha blustered, utterly insulted. "I took out that tin can monstrosity on my own!"

"You? You took it out?!"

Setting his gaze on the most starved human Inuyasha had ever seen, he wrinkled his nose at his scent and had to wonder did he know just how ill he was. "Yeah, I did. Not hard really. Stupid thing caught me off guard, but I got it after."

"Now is not the time to be impressed Toshinori!" Aizawa scolded. "The boy is bleeding!"

"Was bleeding," Inuyasha corrected, rolling his eyes. Tugging down his collar, he showed them the injury that had already sealed and would be faded completely within a few hours. "See…"

"Rapid regeneration!" Izuku gushed, eyes bright. "Y-You've more than one Quirk!"

"Like All For One," Katsuki grunted irritably.

Who the hell was All For One? The sudden aggression was enough to have his hackles up. The students suddenly very wary.

"Oh, don't look so scared. He is nothing to All For One." All attention turned to Nezu, the small animal making his way toward them, a smile upon his face. "In fact, our guest here, doesn't possess a Quirk."

Inuyasha blinked, eyes narrowing. "You know what I am?"

Nezu smiled. "It's been some time since I've seen one of your kind. There's very few of you left. Inuyasha here, my dear students, is a Yōkai…"

No horror, no disbelief, in fact, to Inuyasha's surprise, the students immediately lit up with wonder. They weren't afraid of him! It was such a peculiar thing.

"A real life Yōkai?!" Izuku exclaimed, eyes alight. "There's been long time speculation that our Quirks might have adapted from human and Yōkai bloodlines mixing years ago! This is amazing!"

Inuyasha blinked in shock. "You...You think it's a good thing?"

Izuku tilted his head, realising he said something wrong. "You don't?"

Inuyasha's ears drooped, thinking of the years he suffered at the hands of humans. Tortured, beaten, hated for merely existing. "I'm a Hanyō. Born in a time where my existence was considered an insult. I can't even remember how many have tried to kill me for it...including my own family... or people I thought were friends."

Horrified gasps moved through those gathered. Frowning, Katsuki stepped up next to Izuku.

"You blathered on about someone trapping you." The brash teen began. "Who?"

"Someone I thought cared about me. We were friends, but she wanted more, and I didn't. So, she trapped me with a reiki infused arrow until..." Frowning, Inuyasha set his gaze on Izuku. "You freed me...how?"

Izuku blinked at the mild aggression. "I just removed the arrow.."

"How?!"

"Who cares?!" Katsuki barked, stepping in front of Izuku protectively. "What's your damage? Would you rather he left you trapped?"

"Only a powerful Miko of her blood could have freed me!" Inuyasha snarled back. "Kagome Higurashi...That name mean anything to you?!"

Izuku's green eyes widened in shock. "Yeah...actually...that was my great-great-grandmother."

Holy hell! Kagome had bound him where only she knew where, no doubt with a barrier since not even a random demon had found his sorry carcass, and then went back to her time to just live her life? She could have done that without betraying him so brutally!

"She trapped me under that God damn tree then went and lived a full happy life?!" The whites of his eyes tinting red, Inuyasha let loose a menacing growl. The amber bled ice blue and his canines elongated to even deadlier points.

Sensing danger, Aizawa, Toshinori and Nezu made the students take a step back. Inuyasha's snarls grew, the Hanyō clearly extremely agitated, ears flattened and hair standing on end. But just as quickly as the rage washed over him, it bled away and with a choked sob, Inuyasha fell to his knees, curling in as small as he could get himself, he gave in to the misery choking him.

No matter what humans did, or his brother, or that damnable wench Kikyo, he had let it all slide off his back…but this…it had finally broken him. Why was the Universe hell bent on tearing him to pieces? He hadn't asked to be born…hadn't done anything to deserve the derision of others…yet no matter what he did, or what slice of happiness he coveted, someone always came along and took it away.

Lost in his pitiful wails, Inuyasha didn't notice anyone approach, but the next he knew, arms encircled him. He went rigid briefly, before sagging against a broad chest, the mixed aroma of burning embers and a winter's night tickling his nose.

"It's okay," rumbled a gentle voice against his ear. "It's okay Inuyasha…you're safe now."

Fresh tears spilling, he clung to the boy and let everything come free until he hadn't the energy to stay awake.

"He's asleep," Izuku commented after a while. "I'm surprised he didn't attack you, Shoto."

The teenager shrugged. "I couldn't just ignore his pain. I understand what it feels like to be deeply betrayed by those who are supposed to care. I guess everyone went inside."

Izuku looked about at the only ones who had stayed behind, Aizawa and Toshinori keeping a respectable distance. Katsuki his usual grumbling self next to them. "Aizawa sent them back in, Nezu is keeping an eye. Do you want to try moving him?"

Nodding, Shoto moved carefully, until he was on his feet, Inuyasha slumbering in his arms. "He's underweight." He commented idly.

"Recovery girl said as such," Izuku said with a sigh. "She wants him to gain at least ten pounds to put him in healthy territory."

Shoto would make sure he got his weight back up again. He didn't know why he felt the need to help, but there was just something about Inuyasha that drew him in. Careful of his cargo, he headed back inside, Aizawa, Izuku, Katsuki and Toshinori falling into step behind him.

Once again Inuyasha found himself waking in the healer's room, but this time, he realised he wasn't alone. He could smell embers and snow. The boy who had held him sat in a chair by his bed, bicoloured eyes locked on a book. At the end of the bed, Izuku paced, engaging in a whispered conversation with the gaunt blonde and when his amber eyes found the guy with the eyepatch, he startled when he found him watching him.

"You're awake."

Instantly all attention was on him and Inuyasha wasn't sure he liked it. With an affirmative grunt, he sat up and flushed when he remembered how he'd ended up back here. Sweet hellish hell, had he seriously bawled like a pup in a stranger's arms and passed out?! Cheeks flaming, he stole a glance toward the boy with a scarred face.

"Sorry about leaking all over you."

"It's fine…Everyone has bad days." The teenager smiled gently. "I'm Shoto Todoroki."

"And you're Kagome's descendent," Inuyasha grunted eyes locking on Izuku. "You know any of the stories about her…or the bone eaters well?"

"Those are real?" Izuku spluttered. "I thought they were just fairytales! My Great-Great-Grandmother really travelled back in time and…and fought Demons?!"

"Yeah and betrayed one just because I couldn't love her." Gripping the subjugation beads about his throat, Inuyasha grunted when he felt the powerful reiki spark against his fingers. "Even dead and she still has me leashed."

"Leashed?"

Looking at Shoto, Inuyasha nodded, lifting the beads a little. "These are spelled with reiki to keep me in line. They're tied directly to Kagome...and a powerful Miko can keep it up even when they're dead. Kagome used the term 'sit boy' and it would force me into submission."

"That's horrible!" Shoto ground out, suddenly furious. She treated you no different to an actual dog."

"There has to be a way to remove those beads," Izuku said, just as irate as Shoto.

"You could remove it," Inuyasha blurted out. "If you could remove Kagome's arrow, then you must possess Miko abilities…maybe it'll be the same."

"Go ahead, young Midoriya," Toshinori urged.

Stepping toward Inuyasha's bed, Izuku hesitated only a moment before reaching out and grasping the beads. With a tug, the string snapped, the beads disintegrating with a flash that lit up the room. When the light dissipated, Inuyasha was sat in awe, hand at his throat. Laughing, he grinned up at Izuku in delight.

"They're gone! They're finally gone!"
