"Are you sure you want to go by yourself?" Adrien asks, putting the tea table in the back of my car. I nod. "This is something I need to do alone, but I'll call when I'm heading back." "Okay. Have fun today. I'm helping Papa in the bakery today." I smile. "Good. The more bonding time you can get the better."
Giving him a quick kiss, I slide into the car and drive off, classical music playing. "So, where are we going, Marinette? You were really mysterious with Adrien," Tikki asks. "Remember how each week I would go to the museum during my depression state and I had my Kwagamata?" Nikki nods. "Well, I did my research and apparently there's a statue of a past Ladybug hero out in Eternal Woods. I started going there to talk to her and to ask for advice, and she helped a lot. I may not want a party, but I'll gladly talk to her." I pull into the Starbucks driveway, and enter the queue of cars in the drive-through. "Remember, Marinette, its only her memories. Its not a real person," Tikki reminds me. "I know," I clutch my locket as I order a coffee.
Then its off to the forest and for half the ride, Tikki and I are jamming out to pop music, my top down, hair blowing in the wind. As we get closer to the destination, I switch to classical.
Finally, I turn to the small park and climb out of the car, walking a bit into the forest. I set up the table and chairs and set out a plate of sandwiches and tea. I don't want loud music of a party, but I love the sound of bubbling water just before the tea kettle shrieks. When everything is ready, I unfasten my Kwagamata from my neck and taking a deep breath I place it on the symbol.
"Ahhh," A see-through girl stretches and yawns, and she kinda reminds of Cat after he's had a long snooze. "That was a nice nap. Oh." She catches sight of me, smiling at her. "Your another Ladybug holder. What your name?" "Marinette. This is going to sound silly, but at a low time in my life I would look at your picture and pour out my problems." Instead of thinking I'm crazy, or calling me weird, the girl walks forward, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I haven't known a Miraculous holder, Ladybug or otherwise, to not have problems in their life. Even if I couldn't answer, I'm glad I could help. I'm Bo rua, by the way." "Nice to meet you. Will sit with me?"
Bo rua does, taking in the fancy spread and tablecloth. "Are we celebrating something?" A glow of happiness lights my face. "I'm marrying Cat Noir tomorrow." "Oh, how wonderful! What's your Cat like? Is he sweet, handsome? Please tell me!" I laugh at her excitement. "He's wonderful, even if he can be extremely naughty. Even if I didn't know yet, I think, Adrien, Cat, was the one for me from day one."
Bo rua's face softens. "So, you know each other idenites? Did you defeat your enemy?" "Yes, though it took me a long time to find the courage. And Hawkmoth is behind bars, though Cat did forgive him." "I've never heard of a Cat Noir doing that." "Cat could have not forgiven him. But he has a kind heart, showing mercy and forgiveness to his dad."
We chat as I eat my lunch, and the mood is very pleasant. In once sense I feel as if I'm talking to myself, but it feels so normal. "So, after you are married what are your plans?" "Move to an island and have a family." I sigh, stirring around my tea. "I was thinking of waiting awhile to start a family, but I know Adrien wants kids."
I pour out our story, and Bo rua listens. Though she is a spirit form, she places a hand on mine when I finish. "Whatever you and Adrien decide, Marinette, I'm sure it will be the right one."
"This was nice," I tell her, "Thank you for this reunion." She gives me a playful bow. "If ever you need to talk, you know where to find me." "End reunion."
She slowly fades from sight, and I feel a ache creeping up in my chest. Tikki flies up and cuddles my cheek. "Come on, Tikki. Let's get you back to Plagg, and Adrien."
My hands sweat as I begin the long drive back home, thinking of everyone watching me, all those eyes staring. And then I get idea, and get excited, and suddenly I can't wait to tell Adrien.
I tell him as soon as I get back, but then I have to go. I may be Lady Luck, but I don't want to cause bad luck on the night before my wedding.
Up in my room, I realize that this is my last night sleeping here as Marinette Dupain-Cheng, and tomorrow I'll be Marinette Agreste.
Though I am nervous, I'm ready to be Adrien's, and we will no longer be separated. Nikki suggests to calm my nerves we make warm chocolate and watch Netflix, which I happily oblige.
After we settle down for the night, I look through my scrapbook of photos, smiling. All this time the love of my life was right in front of me, wearing a mask.
I may be changing my name tomorrow, and moving to the new place. But one thing will never change, whenever I go. I will always be Ladybug.
