A/N: Happy early Halloween.
"Markus, this place is creeping me out." North responded as they searched the warehouse with a ghost detector and flashlight, having seen what they thought was a ghost earlier in the week.
"Yeah, we should've brought Simon and Josh as backup. Or had checked on Leah and…" Markus replied before he trailed off after shining his flashlight towards a body and he and North turned pale.
"There's definitely a ghost here…" North responded before Markus put his right index and middle fingers to where his LED used to be.
"Leah, we need you to meet us at the warehouse in Ferndale. We found a body and we know it's not a ghost that killed her." Markus explained.
"Damn... hang on, I'll call Captain Fowler." Leah responded before they hung up.
At the Anderson house, Leah stood up and walked down the hallway with her phone... and Hank and Elena looked at each other in concern.
"Something's wrong…" Elena replied softly.
"It is. I've only seen that look on her face a few times." Hank explained as Leah got through to Fowler.
"Leah, what's wrong, kiddo?" Fowler asked.
"Markus and North called, they just found a body." Leah explained, startling the others.
"Just got a similar call from one of the dock workers. Cops are on the way there." Fowler responded.
"We'll meet them there." Leah replied before they hung up and she walked back to the others.
"Babe, what happened?" Connor asked as he stood up.
"There's been a murder, Markus and North found the body." Leah explained before she turned to Elena and Tyler. "Mom, Uncle Tyler, you're gonna have to stay here until we get back. Don't unlock that door for anyone, okay?" She responded before they hugged.
"Sumo, if anyone tries to get into the house and you don't know them, bite them." Leah responded.
The massive dog let out an understanding bark before Leah petted him and she, Hank, Connor, Gavin and Nines left… and Tyler locked the door behind them before he turned to Elena.
"She won't say it but…" Elena replied, Tyler nodding.
"It was going to happen sooner rather than later." Tyler responded.
At the warehouse, Leah found Markus and North.
"I can't even imagine why she was here… she was definitely out of place." North replied before Leah saw Valerie's body… and Markus saw the rattled look on Leah's face.
"You know her… we should've dialed 911." Markus explained.
"No, you did the right thing by calling me." Leah responded as Avery and Dianne walked to her.
"It's definitely her. You sure you can handle this, kid?" Avery replied as Leah saw Valerie's driver's license.
"Valerie Hendricks, 70 years old… looks like she was strangled and her neck was snapped." Leah responded, Markus looking at the license.
"Hendricks, isn't that… your mom's maiden last name, Leah?" Markus asked.
"I meant to call you earlier but I completely lost track of time. A lot happened today." Leah responded.
At the precinct, Leah and Markus were in an interrogation room and Markus went wide eyed as Leah explained everything.
"Holy shit… so your mom has been alive this entire time and your grandmother kept her in a facility?" Markus replied after he had a chance to process everything.
"I wouldn't have known any of this had I not gone out on a call this morning. Leo had gotten stabbed, he accused me of stabbing him. My mom had picked up the knife but she was already injured and was desperate to defend herself. From what a witness had said earlier, a hooded man had attacked Leo so they assumed it was a dealer that Leo hadn't paid." Leah explained before the door opened and they saw Tina.
"Drug test results from this morning finally got faxed to us." Tina responded as she handed the file to Leah, who opened it… and Markus saw her turn confused.
"No red ice in his system, no evidence of any drugs… so he didn't get a good look at his attacker and thought it was my mom when he saw her running off after she dropped the knife." Leah explained, closing the folder before Tina handed her the second one and she opened it.
"The prints we did lift that aren't Elena's are a paternal genetic match for her." Tina responded.
"That's impossible, hers and Tyler's father died when she was 16 and he was 12." Leah replied.
"When the hospital did blood work on Elena, they sent it to the lab to compare it to the blood found on her hospital gown… it's a genetic match to Victor Kamski." Tina responded.
"Elijah's father…" Markus replied as he remembered meeting the elder Kamski after first being activated in 2028.
"Kamski family was beyond rich at the time Valerie and Victor were together. I did my research, Victor was a textile tycoon and retired with more than enough to be well off for the rest of his life. Why did Valerie claim that my mom is someone else's child?" Leah asked before they heard multiple footsteps and saw Elijah, Connor and Hank.
"He claims there's information that can help our case." Hank explained before Elijah saw the DNA test results.
"Not surprised, the old man did fool around in his younger days." Elijah responded.
"Did he ever try to claim my mom as his daughter?" Leah asked.
"He tried but was locked out of his bank accounts by my mom for a while. She took control of his assets and told him she'd leave him penniless if he ever tried to claim one of his illegitimate children." Elijah explained.
"Wait, one of his illegitimate children?! I don't even want to know how many children the old bastard has but he's a suspect in a murder investigation." Leah responded.
"Yes, the murder is all over the news unfortunately. I remember nights when my parents argued that my mom would always throw my dad's affairs in his face. In 2014, they got a divorce and he left and went looking for Valerie to claim Elena as his own but she told him not to bother because she wouldn't tell her husband the truth and was unfazed by my father's threats." Elijah replied.
"My mom was 20 and had grown up believing that Mark Hendricks was her biological father. She wouldn't have listened to anything that Victor would have to say, especially since he hadn't tried to claim her as his daughter before then." Leah responded once she realized it. "Valerie was always looking for another man with deep pockets, Mark was a lawyer from a well off family…" She explained.
"We have to lure this son of a bitch out into the open." Hank replied.
And I know just the night to do it too." Elijah explained before he grabbed his phone and sent a message.
It wasn't long before he got a text that read 'Halloween has always been my favorite day. Of course I'll be there.' and Elijah turned to the others.
"All set and you'll all need to be in costumes, of course. To avoid suspicion." Elijah responded.
"That's easy enough." Hank replied.
Halloween Night...
The party had been underway for about 10 minutes when from the corner of his left eye, Hank saw him and saw Leah following him from a distance.
Dressed as Vanny from Five Nights At Freddy's, Leah kept her composure as she followed Victor, who was dressed as Freddy Fazbear until Victor took the Freddy mask off and turned around, pulling a knife on Leah, who had her gun aimed at him.
"Put it on the floor." Leah responded, Victor doing so.
"The safe is in the third room down the hall." Victor explained.
"I'm not here to rob you." Leah responded before she pulled her mask off and showed her badge before Victor saw the doors open one by one and saw the entire homicide division aiming guns at him. "Victor Kamski, you're under arrest for the murder of Valerie Hendricks. You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you." She explained before she continued to read his rights to him and handcuffed him.
Seeing Elena walk into the hallway, Victor turned startled.
"Elena… my little girl." Victor responded.
"You don't get to claim me now, Victor." Elena replied before Leah led Victor to a squad car.
At the DPD, Victor was fingerprinted and booked into a cell… and Elena pulled Leah into a hug before they let go as Fowler walked to them.
"So I did some digging into Victor's past… he's dodging 5 murder charges from different states. California, New York, Connecticut, North Carolina and Arizona." Fowler explained before he handed the case files to Leah and she sat down and opened them one by one as the others sat down.
"The victims were women he had been sleeping with… they tried to go after him for child support but the cases indicate that…." Leah responded once she realized it.
She looked at Victor and knew he couldn't have committed the five murders by himself.
