Character Guide:
Orin: Snowtuft
Orin's mom: Snowtuft's mentor
Ronette: Ivypool
Crystal: Blossomfall
Chiffon: Minnowtail
Snowtuft tells the story of why he was sent to the Dark Forest to a few trainees. He has always enjoyed causing other cats pain, and the medicine cat of Windclan decided that he could minimize the damage Snowtuft could cause by making him his apprentice. He would fight much too viciously if he was a warrior, he would have too much time on his paws if he was immediately sent to the elders' den, he would terrorize kittypets if he was sent away from the clan, and if he was killed before becoming an adult, Starclan would have to let him in. Snowtuft loved being a medicine cat, and he slowly progressed towards having less and less pretense before attacking cats. One day, he forcefully fed an apprentice deathberries with no medical pretense whatsoever, and his mentor finally killed him, sending him to the Dark Forest.
Part 1
When I was younger, just a bad little kid,
Snowtuft confidently walks towards the right of the screen, looking slightly smug. When his line starts, he comes across Ivypool, Blossomfall, Minnowtail, and Breezepelt. Breezepelt is cocky, while the others are steadfastly aloof.
Part 2
My mama noticed funny things I did,
Like shootin' puppies wit gun
I'd poison guppies, and when I was done
Snowtuft walks up to Breezepelt, innocently looking away from him. When he reaches him, he quickly raises a front paw with unsheathed claws very close to his chest and face, so that if his paw connected, Breezepelt would acquire a similar wound to his. He grins at him while doing this. The eyes of all the trainees widen, and Breezepelt stumbles backwards and falls head-first into a river. The shot switches to a close-up of his head, and we can see Snowtuft put a front paw with sheathed claws on his throat. He whispers the last part of the last line into his ear while looking delighted.
Part 3
I'd find a pussycat and bash in its head
That's when my mama said
What did she say?
Snowtuft takes his paw off of Breezepelt and walks a few paces away, and Breezepelt scrambles up. The other trainees look fearfully at him for a second. During the second line, Snowtuft touches his scar with a neutral and contemplative look. He looks at the other trainees, and they quickly switch to looking interested and say the third line. During the pause before the next line, Snowtuft falls onto his side without moving any part of his body. The ensemble cats are confused by this. Snowtuft phases through the ground, and the shot switches to Windclan camp. He rises from the ground in a smooth transition, as if Windclan camp is on the opposite side of the Dark Forest's floor and he swung between them. Snowtuft is now a kit. He has a little bit of blood on his chin, and gray fur stuck between his front claws. The ensemble cats are standing in the background of the Windclan camp, looking around confusedly.
Part 4
She said, "My boy, I think someday
You'll find a way
To make your natural tendencies pay
You'll be a dentist
Snowtuft's mentor comes into the shot from the right, looking apprehensive. Snowtuft looks at him cheerfully, and his mentor quickly pretends to be enthusiastic. He faces towards the medicine cat den, gestures towards it with his tail, and leads Snowtuft towards it. At the end of the part, Snowtuft's mentor shoves the vines that are blocking the entrance to the medicine cat den aside, and he and Snowtuft walk in, going out of frame. Snowtuft is eager, and the ensemble cats look in curiously. The inside of the den isn't visible yet.
Part 5
You have a talent for causin' things pain
Son, be a dentist
People will pay you to be inhumane
Snowtuft is now an apprentice. The ensemble cats walk into the den and watch as Snowtuft's mentor shows him how to put a poultice on a wound, demonstrating on a cat with a shoulder wound. He stands back, and Snowtuft eagerly pounces towards the cat with unsheathed claws, shoving his front paws onto the poultice as hard as he can and digging his claws in. The cat and the ensemble cats gasp. Snowtuft's mentor is scared and proud of him. During the last line, Snowtuft looks like he's thought of a great idea and then starts twisting his claws around in the wound.
Part 6
Your temperament's wrong for the priesthood
And teaching would suit you still less
Son, be a dentist
You'll be a success
Snowtuft's mentor starts walking towards another cat, who is younger and has a large thorn in the pad of a front paw. Snowtuft triumphantly follows him. His mentor looks apologetically at a crystal on one of the shelves in the den at 'the priesthood,' then at the young cat during the second line. Snowtuft gleefully runs to the cat, then steps on his paw with the thorn with as much force as he can muster. His paw is turned sideways, so the thorn is still exposed. The cat gasps. This part ends right after the last line.
Part 7
(No lyrics)
Snowtuft twists the thorn around in the cat's paw, and the cat squirms around in pain. His mentor's pride grows more hesitant, and the ensemble cats look progressively more horrified. Snowtuft stops twisting the thorn for a second and looks at the ensemble cats with false sympathy for the cat. He and Snowtuft's mentor look hopeful for a second. Snowtuft suddenly turns back to the cat and shoves the thorn deep into his paw, so that it can't be seen. The cat screams, and the ensemble cats and his mentor grimace.
Part 8
Here he is, folks, the leader of the plaque!
Watch him suck up that gas!
Oh, my god!
He's a dentist and he'll never ever be any good
The ensemble cats suddenly look into the camera, and Ivypool grandly gestures towards Snowtuft as his mentor leaves the den. He looks over his shoulder fearfully before exiting. Snowtuft scoops several poppy seeds into a front paw from a pile, raises his paw above his mouth, and gleefully drops them in with his eyes closed. Ivypool puts a front paw to her forehead in response, shocked. Snowtuft laughs maniacally, then turns to a cat behind the one he just 'treated,' who is terrified. He grabs a single poppy seed with his front paw and then walks towards the cat. Blossomfall looks disgustedly into the camera while saying her line.
Part 9
Who wants their teeth done by the Marquis de Sade?
Oh that hurts! I'm not numb!
Oh, shut up. Open wide. Here I come!
The ensemble cats sit down and then shrug, still looking into the camera. Snowtuft stabs the poppy seed into the cat's shoulder. He looks relieved for a second, then realizes that the poppy seed isn't working and looks scared again during the second part of his line. Snowtuft smiles slyly at him, then looks enthusiastic at the end of the last line. The cat hesitantly opens his mouth, and Snowtuft faces it.
Part 10
I am your dentist
Goodness gracious!
And I enjoy the career that I picked
Really love it
I am your dentist
Fitting braces
And I get off on the pain I inflict
Snowtuft suddenly stabs the poppy seed deep into his tongue. The ensemble cats are unphased at this point, but this causes the cat immense pain. Snowtuft grins at the ensemble cats during the third line, and they fake grins back. He grins into the camera during the fifth line, and the ensemble cats go back to looking unphased and neutral and follow his gaze. During the last line, Snowtuft leaves the poppy seed in the cat's tongue, hooks a few deathberries out of a pile onto his front claws, and triumphantly walks towards the den entrance. The ensemble cats subtly move out of his way. He shoves his way through the entrance, but the outside of the den isn't shown yet.
Part 11
Really love it
I thrill when I drill a bicuspid
Bicuspid
It's swell though they tell me I'm maladjusted
This part takes place outside the medicine cat den. Snowtuft is now an adult, and it is revealed that he ran into a cat while exiting the den. The cat falls over, and Snowtuft triumphantly steps on her with unsheathed claws while moving towards the fresh kill pile. The ensemble cats follow him, curious about what he'll do next. He flings a mouse off of the fresh kill pile, then aggressively stuffs the death berries into it. Snowtuft slowly turns around and sees that an apprentice has come out of the apprentice den. The apprentice sees him and is terrified. Snowtuft starts confidently walking towards him, holding the mouse in his jaws by its tail, and the ensemble cats watch with anticipation.
Part 12
And though it may cause my patients distress,
Somewhere, somewhere in heaven above me
I know, I know, that my mama's proud of me
Snowtuft reaches the apprentice, and he digs his claws into the ground. Snowtuft hooks the mouse with his front claws, then enthusiastically shoves it deep into the apprentice's throat. He hears something, turns around, and then smiles at the cat that he sees. This cat turns out to be his mentor, who furiously walks towards him. He reaches him at the end of the part.
Part 13
Oh, mama
'Cause I'm a dentist and a success
Snowtuft looks up at his mentor proudly, and his mentor lifts a front paw slightly off the ground, hesitates for a second, and then slashes his claws across his chest and face, giving him his death wound. Snowtuft and the ensemble are shocked, and he smoothly falls towards the ground and comes out the other side into the Dark Forest, similarly to Part 3. He switches to looking smug and triumphant when in the Dark Forest. The ensemble cats are back where they were previously. This part ends when the last line does.
Part 14
Say ah!
Ah!
Say ah!
Snowtuft slowly turns towards Breezepelt, who is terrified. The ensemble cats get far out of the way of the path between him and Breezepelt, and Snowtuft starts slowly and menacingly walking towards him. After the first line, Breezepelt starts backing away. Snowtuft grins and moves his tail back and forth aggressively during the last line.
Part 15
Ah!
Say ah!
Ah!
Now spit!
Snowtuft continues pacing towards Breezepelt, who is becoming progressively more terrified. At the third line, he backs up into a tree. Snowtuft reaches him and looms over him. He shouts the last line, then pounces on Breezepelt as forcefully as he can. His front paws, which have unsheathed claws, land on his stomach, and Breezepelt coughs up a lot of blood, which hits and covers the screen.
