Jacklynn groaned as they went into the hallway.
"Sorry about that, he's...protective of me."
Zim smirked and shook his head.
"No apology Jack lynn...He is...gaurdian of you? Good to see that you have people be look out to you."
Jacklynn smiled.
"Yeah, him and his kids and grandkids are the closest thing to family that I have. And Gaz and her dad of course." She said as she lead the way to the parking lot.
"You have no family?"
"Nope." She said as Zim opened the door for her. "Im an emancipated minor. Have been since I was 15. That means I legally left my parents and could be considered an adult as well as live on my own. The Morris's look after me here and there though, and I look after Gramps...speaking of which...Excuse me a sec, I have to call his daughter."
She dialed a number on her phone as they got into the vehicle.
Jacklynn got in and reached over to open Zim's door. Putting her phone on speaker, and sticking it in the holster on the dashboard, she plugged it in as it rang. She signaled Zim to buckle up, which he did after observing her do it.
Anias picked up after the third ring as Jacklynn was backing out of her space and out of the lot.
"Jackie, I was just about to call you...is everything ok?"
"Yeah, great in fact. Just wanted to check in with you and get some details. Gramps says you're staying with him til Wednesday?"
"Ugh...No, that's when i have court. Nate and I are getting a divorce- don't apologize. I swear if i hear one more apology Ill implode. I'm so sorry I haven't reached out yet. There's just been so much going on."
"Jesus An I'm s-. Well dont you apologize, I get it, I can't imagine what all is going on...but why are you moving in with Gramps? Shouldn't you and the boys get the house?"
"Heh, you'd think. But he inherited it, so that's legally left out. You'd think he'd do the noble thing and leave so the boys and I can stay, but we're gojng 50/50 with the custody so he's keeping it."
"Damn chick Im so- that sucks."
"*Sigh*...Yeah. it's been a long time coming though, so its whatever. You should come have wine and ice cream with me sometime...Oh! and not anytime soon, but do you think we could discuss you watching the littles here and there? I've got ben, hes 15 so he usually babysits, but I cant use him all the time."
" Id be happy to, Im getting the Benson's kids right now though. We'll talk later."
"Ok, sounds good. Thanks sis."
" Anytime."
Jacklynn sighed as she hung up. She grabbed her phone and chose an application before handing it over to Zim.
"you can put music on if you like. I have some playlists on there or you can search. Damn that sucks though. I cant believe they're getting divorced."
Zim peered up from the phone...it looked like he just chose a random playlist before putting the phone on it's dock.
" what is divorce?"
"well...its when two people who are married decide they want to separate permenantly."
"They do not mate for life?"
"Some people do, but that's pretty rare anymore unfortunately."
" Does Jack Lynn want mate for life?"
She smiled a little wistfully as she parked the car along the curb where the bus would drop the kids off.
" A girl can dream. Maybe someday. But I havent even had a legitimate boyfriend yet."
" What is boy friend?"
" Heh... iiiits what you call a guy that you're dating." She said as she unscrewwed a bottle of tea she had keft in the cupholder yesterday.
" Ah, so Zim is boyfriend of Jack Lynn."
Jacklynn did a spit take at that...spraying tea all over the steering wheel.
