Luz and Amity were driving towards the cemetery. Luz had been very frustrated today. 1st the mechanic couldn't get her car ready till 7 then 3 flower shops were closed due to illness and then a traffic accident forced her to take a detour to the cemetery. "Finally we are here." Luz said as they pulled up to the gates of the cemetery. It was at this moment a flock of birds flew overhead in formation and headed south. "That's odd, it's the middle of summer." Luz said as she waited for the caretaker to open the gates. "
Cemetery closes at 8 with no exceptions." The caretaker said as he opened the gate. The two drove by not seeing the caretaker collapse to the ground. As they drove up the narrow cemetery road Luz pulled the jeep to a stop. "Alright it's on foot from here. Amity, thanks again for coming with me." Luz said as she grabbed the bouquet of flowers." Of course I'd come. By the way, thanks for loaning me a tshirt after I spilled bleach on mine, but I've got to ask who is papa Duarte?" Amity said looking down to her shirt featuring
a black and white picture of an old latino man." Oh, that's Juan Pablo Duarte, the father of Dominican independence. I wear that shirt on Dominican independence day and other Dominican cultural events." Luz said as they passed by several rows of graves. "Oh, that's cool." Amity said before she was stopped by Luz. "We're here." Luz said as she placed the flowers before a tombstone that read "Manny Noceda, Loving Husband and Father ,1978-2017, Gone but not forgotten." It was at this moment Luz rested her head upon the
tombstone." Hi Dad. Sorry I'm late but I made it. Mom would have been here but she had to take care of abuela in the DR. So much has changed. I can't thank you enough for getting me that Good witch Azura book. It changed my life. It brought me love and introduced me to a world you could only dream of." Luz said as she wiped tears from her eyes and looked over to Amity." Dad let me introduce you to my girlfriend Amity Blight." Luz said as she pulled Amity over, unsure of what to say, she just went with "Hello Mr.
Noceda." Luz looking at her watch saw the cemetery was soon to close. " Well Dad, I have to go. I will see you. Bendición Papi." Luz said as she then placed a slight kiss on the tombstone before walking away. As the two began to walk back Luz said "You know I've never been here this late, it's kinda creepy."Amity looking at her girlfriend was stunned. "Wait you're telling me the good witch Luz, the vanquisher of Belos who survived the demon realm is scared of being in a cemetery after dark." Amity said as she started to laugh much to the annoyance of Luz."Hey, that's not funny." Luz said as she was frustrated. "Actually it kinda is." Amity said as she continued to tease her
girlfriend. "Look, let's just get home ok." Luz said as the two were nearing the car. "What's the matter, afraid the dead will get you." Amity said as Luz stopped for a second. "Can you knock it off." Luz said to which Amity replied. "They're coming to get you Noceda." Amity said, causing Luz to reply "Knock it off Amity."They're coming. Look there's one of them now." Amity said going to hide behind a nearby tree. Luz looked and it was the caretaker but something was off. He was slouching with his head down. Instead of
walking he was shuffling forward as if it was all his body could muster. Luz realized something had to be wrong so she went to check on him. " Are you okay..Ahhh." was all Luz had time to say before he lunged at her and that's when she got a good look at him his skin reeked as if something had died and his eyes glowed yellow. The caretaker had managed to pin Luz down as he attempted to take a bite out of her. Luz did her best to hold him back but the man was stronger than her. It was at this moment Amity
pulled him off and shouted"Hey leave my girlfriend alone." The caretaker then decided to make Amity his target and the two got locked in a struggle till he pushed her back causing her to fall and hit her head on a grave knocking her out. 'Amity!" Luz shouted as she went for a 2nd round with the caretaker pushing him with all her might she knocked him down causing him to fall and hit his neck on a rock breaking it as he went limp. "Oh my titan, I just killed a man." Luz said as she went to check on Amity. Taking
a good look at the young witch Luz was relieved to find she still had a pulse though she had a serious cut on her forehead. It was then she heard movement and groaning and turned to see the caretaker was up and moving back toward them, his neck clearly broken. "What the hell is going on?" Luz said as she quickly picked up Amity and made her way back to the car. Once at the car she put Amity in the back as she had no time to take her to the passenger side and buckled her up. As she closed the door she could see
the caretaker in the reflection so she dodged as he lunged for her causing him to fall to the ground. Unfortunately for Luz he was blocking her path to the driver's seat so she went toward the trunk when she got an idea. Opening the back she was quick to find the tire iron and with perfect timing as the caretaker had pulled her to the ground. Kicking herself free she bashed his head in 3 times until the body no longer moved. Stopping to take a deep breath she muttered. "I hope I don't run into any more of them."
Just then she could make out several figures in the distance. All had glowing yellow eyes. "Okay time to go." Luz said as she hopped in the front seat and drove off. Aproaching the front gate she found it locked. " You've gotta be kidding me ." She muttered as she put the jeep in reverse trying to gain enough speed to break through the
front gate. After a minute she felt confident that she had enough speed to smash the front gate. She had to hurry as a group of them were closing in on the jeep. Some had grabbed the rear bumper. "Get the fuck off my car." Luz said as she floored it sending the dead flying as the jeep picked up speed until it smashed through the gate doing some serious damage to the car front. Luz breathed a sigh of relief but in the back of her head she knew this night was far from over.
