Chapter Four: Picking up the Puzzle Pieces
As Anne ate her breakfast she thought of the Dreams she had, she still denied it even though she felt giddiness inside her as she thought of them, finally she shoved Gilbert out of her thoughts, well she thought she did, but really to the back of her head. ready to retaliate soon.
'After all!' Anne thought 'It's Roy who I truly-' Anne Paused in her thinking 'Love? have I ever said I loved him? have I ever thought I loved him? I know I like him, but do I love him-but of course there is Gilbert too, I said I would never love him-' suddenly For a Split second, Anne was brought back to the horrible day wh-when he proposed to Her.
'I could Never Ever Love you Gilbert, you must never speak of this to me Again!' Annes sharp words, Gilberts Horrified and Near teared eyes staring at her, The words that Girl, that Redhead Girl said to him 'Never Love you.' the Horrible words Now no longer Haunted Just Gilbert Alone, Anne Put her Hands to her face trying not to cry- They now haunted her! "Stop" she moaned "No I won't!" A voice in her head just like hers. "We shall suffer for our folly!"
Phil saw Anne sobbing, she rushed over: "Anne, Anne!" Phil Cried. "are you alright?" Anne quickly stopped crying 'It is nothing' she thought to herself. "I-I I'm fine, I just was-well-I mean-I-I didn't mean to, It-It's nothing." she said stuttering wildly.
"Well It must be something." said Phil concerned. "Would you like to tell me about it?"
Anne stared at her she didn't want to tell Phil about it. "No, I'm fine." she said
Phil nodded "Okay Anne, whatever you say."
Later that day After Class was over, Anne felt tired, She still had One hour of rest before she had to get ready for convocation.
"Well" Anne mumbled. "I'll just go to sleep, there I won't be too tired for the event."
with that Anne called Phil to wake her up in case she slept too long, after Phil reassured Her that she would, Anne went to bed.
As she closed her Eyes she saw Hazel ones in the dark parts, and suddenly she was In the green field with Gilbert, they were both leaning in for a kiss, just like last dream like a Resumed Movie after it was Paused.
"Carrots" He mumbled
Anne smiled in her sleep. She felt warm in his Embrace, she was exited, they could feel each other's breath.
Until-
Gilbert seemed to melt away, then there was darkness. Anne stood alone until she heard a noise behind her. She turned around to see Gilbert Once again in the middle of a dim light, but instead of a warm smiling face looking at her, he was sitting on the Ground, face in his arms crying.
"Gil!" Anne exclaimed
Gilbert heard her, they were both sharing a dream.
he looked up tears in his eyes. he gave a smile until he heard: "I could never ever love you Gilbert, You must never speak of this to me again!"
Gilbert put his face in his hands, and continued crying.
Anne walked over, then she saw a screen, she looked up at it, it showed that horrible day when she rejected him.
Anne watched herself say: "I can never Love you!"
Her Horrible words, His Horrified Eyes. "Gil" Anne said as she walked over. she hugged him, Neither of them knew they were sharing a dream, but neither of them cared.
"Anne-" Gilbert choked out
"It's alright Gil." Anne said as she stroked his hair, she never knew how much she hurt him.
As Anne did this, her dream was cut short by a certain Phil in the real world saying: Anne! wake up it's time to get ready!"
Anne woke with a start, she tried to brush off the feeling but, to tell you the truth she was disappointed that the dream had ended.
She got up from the sofa. "Alright, Alright! I'm coming!" she called back, and got ready for convocation, the thought of Gilbert was slowly retreating to the back of her head, waiting to come back into her main thoughts.
She's a stubborn Redhead isn't she? Anne is just beginning to doubt Roy but still doesn't realize her "Real Feelings for Gilbert" that is locked secretly in her heart.
