Chapter three: Convocation

As you all know from L.M Montgomery's Anne of the Island, before Anne left for Convocation she found a pair of Lilies from Gilbert on the counter, soo, believing it was their night and not Roy's (And also expressing sympathy for his sadness [and Deep down In love with him though she doesn't know that!]).

Anne Also put on the Gold string hear necklace with the Pendant as well.

As she Joined Phil and Stella, Stella Blurted out: "Anne! why are you taking those Lilies? I thought you were going to bring Roy's Violets." "And-" Phil Added "What is that Necklace you are wearing?"

"Oh" Anne said "Well, Me and Gilbert have been dreaming of this moment for years, sharing our thoughts with each other of our futures, soo I decided, This was our night and Gilbert sent the Lilies from home, And this Necklace was a Gift from him a few years ago." Anne didn't know she was blushing.

Phil gave a suspicious smile. "sooo are you saying you like Gilbert?" Anne looked at Phil horror-struck: "No! you know as well as I do that I am expecting a Marriage Proposal with Roy! I'm just bringing these because I feel like it's mine and Gilbert's night, we've been dreaming About this moment for years!" "But-" Stella was cut off "No buts, I do not like Gilbert and that is final!" Anne was flustered by then

'Why do they always think I'm right for Gilbert?' Anne spoke in her head, however she was now begging to doubt: 'Did I make the right decision?' Anne's mind wandered to her dreams of rejecting Gilbert, they were Painful but she almost was relieved to regret what she did.

Anne walked into the hall and saw Gilbert with Christine Stuart, and Gilbert had his Right Arm Hooked to her Left!

Anne suddenly felt Anger, hot Anger and maybe a twinge of Jealousy, but she didn't know why, I mean she had Roy, and Gilbert had Christine, there was nothing wrong with that right?

But whatever the case, Anne went to the corner, and she broke off the necklace and put it in her pocket.

After they were all awarded, Anne and Roy came onto the dance floor. Anne talked and talked as usual while Roy listened. soon the dance ended, Roy said: "I'll be right back, I need to go to the erm, Outhouse real quick, and I want to walk alone for a while if you don't mind?" Anne smiled "Sure thing Roy." and with a smile, Roy left.

Anne was at the Punch table sipping out of her glass when Gilbert walked over, who was also eyeing the Lilies in Anne's hand.

Gilbert looked at her again, he said: "Hello Anne!" he smiled, and Anne smiled back, just a little icely while she was thinking of Christine, and it made her angry.

Gilbert continued: "I was wondering if you would like a dance?" Anne looked up at him coldly now: "No Gil, My card is full." Gilbert's Smile faded: "I see." As he was walking away, Anne could have sworn she saw Hurt in his eyes, As he walked Anne thought of her Previous dreams of Gilbert being heartbroken by her.

She couldn't bare to see him like that forever, Anne made her decision and walked over: "Gil!" Anne said, Gilbert stopped and turned around, he was putting on a pained smile but Anne could see the hurt in his eyes.

Anne stared into his eyes and said: "Gil, I-I can Dance with you this one time." Gilbert's Eyes brightened. "You mean it?" He was Grinning now.

"Yes" Anne said. "Roy is not here right now so I have some time for you right now."

Gilbert nodded, Smiling still: "Alright Anne-Girl." Anne and Gilbert touched fingertips and Slowly Wrapped them around each other's hand, Gilbert Put his Right arm under her waist while Anne Put her Hand on his shoulder.

Anne couldn't help but feel a growing sensation, She felt really warm at his touch, very comfortable.

they danced Automatically with everyone else, however They had their eyes locked, Nothing mattered, not the dancers, not the musicians, not even Roy, who now had come back to the Punch table, Eyeing them suspiciously.

As the Dance ended, the spell was broken, Gilbert Guided Anne off the floor, Anne saw Roy and immediately Freaked out!

"Oh Roy!" Anne smiled .

"Hello Anne." Roy Said back who now looked at Gilbert. "Mr. Blythe."

the two men shook hands, A little harder than Supposed though.

"Mr. Gardener." Gilbert said back very flatly.

Anne noticing the mood said quickly: "Gilbert was just Doing a dance with me while you were gone Roy! He was just keeping an eye on me while you were absent." Gilbert nodded. "Yes that was true, Nothing to Upset you Roy."

Roy gave a Relieved (Yet Still worried) face: "Oh, okay then." Roy gave Gilbert a smile: "Thank you for keeping Anne company while I was taking a walk." Gilbert nodded smiling back halfheartedly, "Sure thing Gardene-" "Gilbert!" a Female voice rang out.

Anne suddenly grew very Angry at the sight of the Black haired Woman.

She Stopped and said: "Why Anne Shirley, Mr. Gardener! how wonderful to see you both."

Roy Smiled and shook Christine's hand While Anne gave a halfhearted Smile.

After a while of talking, Anne was pink in the face, she couldn't help but look at Gilbert, besides having Roy's Arm hooked with her's, she felt out of place.

Finally Gilbert noticed Anne's Crestfallen face: "Anne, are you alright?" Christine and Roy followed suit looking at Anne.

Anne, Realizing she was making a scene for the three people she was talking to, quickly said: "I'm fine, I just need some time to think." and with that, she began to walk away.

"Anne!" Roy called: "Do you want me to come with you?" Anne didn't look back. "No I'm fine, I just need to-to get some time alone.

with that she walked into the hall and one of the rooms and sat on the Sofa.

Gilbert and Roy looked at each other, finally at last Christine Spoke up: "You boys have a good time I'll be right back." "Alright" Gilbert said reluctantly.

Christine set off to rhe room Anne went into, She was going to get Answers.
