Karai's P.O.V
The humans and I walked through a creepy looking lair that was built inside the mountain. We walked down a path and my eyes widened when I saw mutant rats throwing stuff in a fire and building some kind of machine. I also wince a little when I saw them getting whipped.
We went down the path until we reached the last floor. The soldiers took the cuffs off us and put us in a line. They then brought out a wheelbarrow full of cloaks. "All of you put these on!" One of them ordered.
We all immediately put on the cloaks. The cloaks covered us from head to toe, the only part of us that was not covered were our eyes. "Ah, my shipment has finally arrived! Welcome to your new home, my children!"
A voice said and I looked to see a tall man wearing a black robe and a weird looking hat. His face and arms were also covered in bandages. This must be the RatKing. 'Wow, Raph was right, he does look like he's wearing a sad Halloween costume.'
"Hmm?" He rubbed his chin. "I had only asked for 15 humans. Why do I see 16?"
"We found this one on the mountain, she spotted us, we didn't know what else to do with her." One of the soldiers responded while pointing at me.
RatKing came closer to me. "Well, the more the merrier! What was a little girl like you doing all alone on the mountain in the middle of the night?"
Who does he think he's calling 'little girl'! I'll turn in my snake form and show him how little I am! "Camping. Family tradition. You should try doing some outdoor activities, your pale skin can certainly use it."
I insulted but I couldn't resist mocking Shinigami's voice when I did. I smiled at myself as I thought about what she would say to a messing and dirty place like this. She probably would have a heart attack.
RatKing growled. "Watch your mouth girl! You wouldn't want to upset your new king, would you?"
I looked up and down at him. "King? The only thing you will ever be king of is king of the brainless."
A soldier laughed a little but immediately stopped when the RatKing looked at him. He then looked back at me and I glared at him. His brows seemed to raise in interest. "Your eyes...they look an awful lot like-
"AHHH!!" The RatKing was interrupted when a woman screamed. I followed her eyes to see two uncloaked mutant rats walk by. She ran to the RatKing and gripped his robe. "Is that what you're going to do to us?! Turn us into rats?! Please, sir, spare me, please! I-I'll do anything, I'll give you money!"
The RatKing pushed her to the ground. "I don't want your money, I want to build a rat kingdom! Soon the whole world will be rats!"
All the humans were now shivering in fear, I, however, rolled my eyes. Not only do I have to find a way to get father and myself out of here, I have to find a way to stop a rat apocalypse from happening. 'I really should have brought my phone!'
"Now, all of you line up and follow me, I'll be showing you your teacher. He will teach you how to be a rat citizen before your mutation." He ordered and started leading the way.
"Ah!" The woman screamed as one of the rat soldiers whipped her to move forward.
...
The RatKing took us to a room that almost looked like a school classroom. Everyone walked in and lined up while the RatKing stood in front of us. "Now your teacher is very talented in every respect and he will be treated with respect! After all, he is the first out of all of us who has seen the world through the eyes of rats! That is why I picked him to be your teacher."
'First to see through the eyes of rats?' That can only be one person and my eyes widened when he walked in. There he was, standing in front of me, covered in dirt and scars. My father, Hamato Yoshi.
My eyes watered, it was hard to contain my emotions, every emotion you can think of was hitting me at once. I wanted to jump up and hug him but knew I couldn't reveal myself yet. He can't know I'm here or it will risk us getting out of here and stopping this craziness.
"This is Splinter, he is the best around. I can assure you that you'll all be in good hands. I'll leave you all to it, the sooner you start, the sooner we can start your transformation." RatKing said, leaving all the humans in fear as he left.
Splinter looked at all of us, at least...I think he was. He looked so exhausted and run out, he couldn't even keep his eyes fully open. He sighed. "Why don't you all just find your seats for now then we'll get started."
We all took a seat as Splinter explained how the rat body worked. How the tail can be used as a weapon, how the nose and ears can help detect unwanted strangers. When he opened his mouth to speak again he was interrupted by the girl next to me crying. He stopped and his ears went down slightly.
"Are you alright?"
The girl looked at him. "Does it look like I'm alright! That crazy man is going to turn us into rodents! I just want to go back home to my parents! What if I never see them again?! What if when I turn into a rat they will disown me?!"
Both me and Splinter looked at the girl sadly. Splinter walked up and kneeled next to her. "What is your name?" He asked.
The girl sniffed before answering. "T-Tiana."
"How old are you?"
"15." She answered and Splinter smiled kindly at her. "I have a daughter who was about your age when she got mutated."
The girl looked at him in interest and I listened closely to see where he was going with this. How will talking about my mutation help?
"An evil man locked her in a cage above a tank of mutation and accidentally dropped her in. It was hard to watch her turn into a mutant. I remember how I felt losing my humanity and knowing my daughter was going to go through that same pain at such a young age broke my heart. When she came out, she was a giant mutant viper and she wasn't in her right mind at the time." Splinter then chuckled a little. "She even tried to eat me."
The girl laughed a little and I smirked a little amused but frowned at the memory of me, squeezing him until he could barely even breath.
"But no matter what she looked like and no matter what she did, I still loved her...even if she did almost eat me alive." He joked. "All I cared about was her safety and happiness. It took a while but eventually she grew happy with her new form and was her old self again."
Tiana looked away doubtful and Splinter put a hand on top of her's. "Tiana, I wish there was something I could do to prevent this from happening to you but I can't, all I can do is prepare you. I can't promise that everything will be alright in the end but I can promise if your parents truly love you then they will accept you and still love you no matter what you turn into."
Tiana nodded and wiped away her tears. "Where is your daughter now?" Splinter sighed sadly. "Hopefully, somewhere safe. It's been a while since I've seen her, so I don't really know."
"What was her name?"
Splinter gazed away, almost looking unsure. "Miwa but she likes to be called Karai."
'No, I don't like to be called that! I never said I did! It's just who I am right now but I'm trying to change and be better, father, I promise you I'm trying!' I wanted to say to him, there was so much I wanted to say and tell him but now is not the time or place.
"Will the RatKing h-hurt us?" Tiana asked and Splinter looked down, not sure how to answer.
"Of course, he will! Are you an idiot!" A man stood up and said. "Why are you trusting anything this rat says, he's one of them!"
Right after those words came out of his mouth, I stood up and grabbed scissors off a desk and threw it at him. The man gasped and held his arms up to cover his face. When he opened his eyes, he looked to see the scissors stuck to the wall, only an inch away from his face.
"Shut up!" I yelled. "You're the idiot here! Don't you get it?! All these rat people were human victims just like you! They're only doing what they have to to survive! If he were one of them do you honestly think he would be kind to this girl?!"
The man gulped, obviously frightened of me. "W-Well..I-I-
I sighed in annoyance. "Just shut up and sit down." I ordered and the man immediately obeyed.
I sat back down and my eyes widened a little in worry when Splinter and Tiana were looking at me. 'Oh no, did I blow my cover?'
"Thank you." Tiana said and I flinched in surprise. I was not used to being thanked. "Uh...sure, no problem."
"You have quit the aim. What is your name?" Splinter asked and I tensed. "My name? Oh, it's...A-Armonia."
(I wanted to try something different for Karai's names other than Miwa or Harmony. Armonia is Harmony in Italian and since the turtles all have Italian names, I thought it was perfect.)
Splinter smiled. "That is a very lovely name. It's nice to meet you."
"Yeah...you too." I answered, almost with a stutter.
Splinter then returned to the lessons and after almost 9 hours we were all escorted in cells. I sighed, tiredly and took my hood down for a second. "How am I going to do this?"
"Karai?" I jumped when I heard my name being called, I turned to see who it was and my body froze in shock.
"Raphael?"
