Tried Our Best
Chapter 5
Authors note : Brooke and Lucas are 33 years old.
Their combined clothing covered various areas of the bedroom floor. Their skin sweat soaked.
Brooke ran her hands through her sweat soaked hair. Tying it up in a messy ponytail.
She felt his gaze on her. His hand rubbing her back. Then leaning over to kiss it. Her neck. Her lips.
Brooke broke the kiss. Gazing back at him.
"This can't happen again." Brooke announced.
Lucas smiled up at her. "We don't plan for this to happen. It's a little late to put a stop to this now."
"There is nothing wrong with what we're doing. And given how many rounds that end up happening when we get together like this."
"You aren't complaining. And neither am i." Lucas replied.
"We arent' a couple Lucas. This is wrong. We're divorced." Brooke stated matter of fact.
"I don't care about what anyone else thinks but you." Lucas replied.
"Tell me that you don't love me. And i'll leave. I'll let this go. You." Lucas added in.
Brooke swallowed hard. And untied her ponytail.
She caressed his face and kissed him.
Lucas kissed her back. Pulling her closer.
As she cried out his name. Feeling him begin to move inside her again.
They couldn't resist each other really. But eventually their secret encounters came to an end. Because they had too.
The divorced couple agreed long ago. That their kids would come first. Them being shuffled from home to home was something they wanted to avoid.
Which is why. Lucas had the boys full time and Brooke had their daughter full time.
But their children were close despite them not all living together.
Brooke and Lucas had close relationships with all their kids.
That was something they prided themselves on.
"So you didn't just invite me to lunch to talk about Keith."
"What else do you want to talk about.?" Brooke asked.
Seated across from them at the table.
At one of their favorite resturants.
"Nathan and Haley's wedding anniversary party?"
"Are you going?" Lucas asked.
"Of course. I wouldn't miss a Naley event like this. Everyone is going to be there. Are you not going.?" Brooke replied.
Truthfully Lucas was having second thoughts about attending.
His younger brother had done what he couldn't.
Nathan and Haley were happily married all these years later.
And as much as he was happy and overjoyed for them.
He was jealous that his life lacked that stability. He would never say that out loud though.
"I've cleared my schedule for it weeks ago." Lucas replied.
"Great. We'll run into each other at some point. During it. As always. I'm sure." Brooke said.
"Save me a dance. That is if you aren't bringing a date." Lucas replied.
"I'm not bringing anyone. But if i did that wouldn't mean anything to you right.?" Brooke asked.
